Because Himachal government has increased the entry fees for outside vehicles. This means that now vehicles will have to pay new rates for toll which will be applicable from April 1, 2026. This decision has been taken under the Himachal Pradesh Toll Act 1975. The government says that this step was necessary in view of the increasing infrastructure expenditure and revenue needs. How much has the charge increased on small and medium vehicles?

According to the new rate decided by the Himachal Government, private cars, jeeps, vans and light motor vehicles will now have to pay entry fee of Rs 170 instead of Rs 70. That means a direct increase of Rs 100. The fee for 12 plus 1 seater passenger vehicles has been increased from Rs 110 to Rs 170. Toll for 32 seater mini bus has increased from Rs 180 to Rs 320.

This will affect those families and group travelers who travel together. However, the state government has exempted local Himachali vehicles from entry fees as before. Due to which there will be no extra burden on the local people. Only external tourists coming to the state will have to pay the increased rates.

New rates for large and commercial vehicles

The entry fee for commercial buses has been increased from Rs 320 to Rs 600. The charge for construction machinery has increased from Rs 570 to Rs 800. Big goods vehicles will now have to pay Rs 900 instead of Rs 720. Tractor drivers will have to pay Rs 100 instead of Rs 70.

However, the rate of double axle bus truck has been kept at Rs 570 only. No change has been made in it. Overall, if you are heading towards Himachal by your car. So now add extra expenses to the trip budget. If you plan in advance then the journey will be easier later.
