India’s telecom sector has made rapid progress over the years. The scope of the country’s 5G network has increased rapidly. The Central Government launched the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme (TTDF) scheme (TTDF) scheme about three years ago to increase collaboration between research and development (R&D) in 5G and 6G technology.

Minister of State of Communications, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that under the TTDF scheme, 5G and 6G technology have been given R&D and Rs 304 crore funds for innovation. Projects associated with R&D approved under this scheme are from one to five years. These projects are in the initial stage of development. In the TTDF scheme, financial assistance is being provided to government and private institutions as well as various projects related to MSME and Startups.

Along with this, Chandrashekhar said that the Telecom Department (DOT) has developed the financial fraud -based financial fraud risk indicator (FRI) of the risk -based risk indicator (FRI). This can take measures to protect customers if banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and Unified Payment Interface (UPI) service providers such as a mobile number are connected to higher risk. Fri has been made available to stakeholders through Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP).

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued advisory to banks and payment service operators (PSOs) for the integration of FRI with their systems. 34 banks, financial institutions and UPI service providers have freeze 10.02 lakh bank accounts, payments wallets based on the action technology reports (ATR) submitted on DIP. Apart from this, restrictions have been imposed on debit and credit on 3.05 lakh bank accounts and payment wallets. Bharti Airtel, one of the big telecom companies, recently reported that it has blocked 1.80 lakh forged links after launching the advanced fraud-detection system. The company had said that about 3 million users have been protected from fraud by blocking these links.

Digital transactions have increased rapidly in the last few years in the country. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Transactions made a record high of 19.47 billion in July. In terms of value, these transactions have been Rs 25.08 lakh crore last month. This is the second high after Rs 25.14 lakh crore in May.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said that UPI holds 85 percent in digital transactions in the country. Recently, India became the fastest payment country in the world. Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has a major contribution in this achievement. In the country, the use of debit cards and credit cards and other means of payment is decreasing. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said in a Fintech that the use of UPI has increased rapidly in the last few years. However, the use of some means of payment like debit cards and credit cards is decreasing. The IMF had said, “India has become the fastest payment country in the world.”

Inter-bank transactions can be done immediately through smartphones from the UPI developed by NPCI. The scope of UPI has also increased abroad. This payment service has been launched in Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, France and Mauritius. This provides the facility to make payments easily to Indians traveling abroad. UPI’s share in real-time digital payments at international level has also increased to about 50 percent.

Recently, the Central Government had reiterated its commitment to promote payments digitally through UPI. Along with this, the government had clarified that the proposal to impose Goods and Services Tax (GST) on transactions worth more than Rs 2,000 from UPI is not being considered. UPI transactions are placed in two categories-Person-to-Person (P2P) and Person-to-CRINT (P2M). NPCI plans to add 20 to 30 crore new users for UPI. Its retail users have more than 45 crores. NPCI has also prepared to increase UPI features.

Recently a media report states that the government has more value Upi Zero MDR is reviewed again on payments. This report said that MDR is being considered to apply on transactions worth more than Rs 3,000. A report by the NDTV Profit quoted sources who are aware of the case as saying that a proposal is being considered to allow MDR on more value UPI transactions.

A senior official had said that last week, a meeting between the Prime Minister’s Office, Department of Financial Services and Department of Economic Affairs was considered to change the policy. However, sources have said that the government has no plans to implement MDR on low -value transactions. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), which operates UPI, plans to add 20 to 30 crore new users for UPI. Its retail users have exceeded 45 crores.

UPI’s popularity increases rapidly and India’s contribution to digital transactions in the world is also increasing. A recent PWC report reported that in the last 12 years, retail digital payments have increased by about 90 times. NPCI’s plan also includes increasing UPI features. In the second half of the previous year, the value of transactions was increased to Rs 198 lakh crore with the use of mobile phones. This is an increase of about 30 percent on a year-on-year basis. It has an increased stake of UPI transactions. NPCI extended the volume limit for these transactions for two years. Apart from this, it was allowed to provide UPI services for all users of WhatsApp. <!--

The segment of cryptocurrency has increased rapidly over the years. The number of cases related to scam in this market has also increased. To curb this problem, regulations related to crypto are being made in many countries. The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in the country has directed all crypto exchanges to conduct the verification of their users’ No-Aya-Castmer (KYC) data by the end of June.

All crypto exchanges will have to refresh KYC details older than 18 months. A media Report Sources have been quoted as saying that many Crypto exchanges and users are ignoring one percent TDS on crypto transactions. FIU has planned to closely monitor Crypto activities. Independent Crypto Advisory Institution, India Web3 Association (BWA) has said that this instruction is a sign of emphasis on regulatory accountability in the virtual digital assets (VDA) segment. BWA has stated in a post on Linkedin, “FIU has directed all registered VDA exchanges to complete the KYC Compliance by June 30 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It involves updating user data and re -verification of older accounts for 18 months.”

Recently, the International Crypto Exchange Binance informed its users in the country about the process of verification again through email. Binance asked its users to deposit their PAN. Last year, Binance also paid a fine of 22.5 million dollars in the country along with registering with FIU. This exchange had to pay the fine for violating PMLA. After this, access was started on the exchange website for the users of Binance in the country. This was the 19th International License for Binance. It has licenses for business in Sweden, Dubai, Kazakhstan and France.

Binance’s CEO, Richard Teng said that the exchange is aware of the possibility in the country’s virtual digital assets (VDA) market. He had told, “Our registration with FIU is an important achievement in the visit to the exchange. This will allow us to give our services to Indian users.” <!--

The new Income Tax Bill has increased the scope of the definition of virtual digital assets (VDAS). It will now also include crypto assets as it represents that value digitally, then a cryptographic secured distributed laser. VDAS has been included in the scope of the definition of ‘undeclared income’ for searching and seizure of the Income Tax Department.

These changes were announced in this year’s budget. A media Report According to this, innovative digital assets such as utility tookons, security tookons and crypto derivatives will be captured in terms of tax. This year’s Finance Bill has been proposed to make reporting of such crypto assets necessary like a statement of financial transactions. The taxpayer can get notice from the Income Tax Department for hiding the profit from VDAS under the Finance Act, 2022.

In some countries, regulations are being made about this segment. The central government’s stand on cryptocurrency in India is strict. There has also been a demand by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to ban this segment. Recently, the Economic Affairs Secretary, Ajay Seth had said that the government’s stand on cryptocurrency is being reviewed. He had said, “Some countries have changed their attitude in terms of using cryptocurrency, their acceptance and importance. We are reviewing the discussion paper again.” He said that there are no borders for such assets and due to this India’s attitude cannot be unilateral.

Earlier this month, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reported that a task force has been formed with the objective of creating a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency. Trading has increased in Cryptocurrency despite more taxes in India. The country’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) had given show cause notices to some foreign crypto exchanges for not following the rules. In June last year, the binance included in large crypto exchanges was fined more than $ 2 million. After this, Binance also registered with FIU to resume its business in the country. <!--

The popularity of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has increased rapidly over the years. Consciousness fees will have to be paid on paying the bill through credit and debit cards on Google Pay, which provides UPI payments facilities. Earlier, there was a service of three rupees for mobile recharge on Google Pay.

A media Report According to this, for the payment of bills like electricity, water and gas on this platform, besides Goods and Services Tax (GST), you will have to pay the consumers fees. This fee will be from 0.5 percent to 1 percent of the value of transaction. It is being called ‘processing fees’ for credit and debit card transactions. Other UPI platforms like Paytm and PhonePe also charge such fees. This fee on Paytm is between Rs 1 and Rs 40. This fee on PhonePe ranges from 0.5 percent to 1 percent of the value of transaction.

In January this year, about 17 billion UPI payments have been made in the country. The total value of these payments was about Rs 23.48 lakh crore. This is an increase of about one percent as compared to December last year. Transactions reached around 16.73 billion in December through UPI. In December, the total value of transactions through UPI was about Rs 23.25 lakh crore. In the previous month, this figure was about 21.55 lakh crore rupees. In December, the average value of these transactions per day was around Rs 74,990 crore.

Last year, NPCI launched the UPI One World Wallet Service for non-resident Indians (NRI) and the country’s visiting international travelers. This will provide the facility to access the UPI by accessing the UPI who do not have an Indian bank account. NPCI has started this with IDFC First Bank and Transcorp International Limited under the guidance of Service Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The NPCI had said that the visitors of the country will be able to make digital payments safely to merchants with UPI One World Wallet. For this, foreign travelers and NRI will need to download a prepaid payment instrument-UPI app.
<!--
