India First Malaria Vaccine: India has achieved another major achievement in the health sector. The country, which has been struggling with a deadly disease like malaria for a long time, has now found a cure for it. India has first prepared a vaccine of malaria itself, which is named Adfalcivax. This vaccine is especially designed to prevent Plasmodium Falciparum, the most dangerous form of malaria.

This is also a historical step in India because now the country has become self -sufficient against malaria and can show the way to the world in this direction. This new vaccine will not only prevent diseases, but the mission of making India malaria -free will also accelerate. So let’s know how effective this malaria vaccine is.

How effective malaria vaccine?

Edfalciax is a vaccine that scientists have specially designed in such a way that it stops the parasite of malaria before reaching the blood in the body. This means that this vaccine saves the body at a time when the disease has not started spreading, another big advantage is that this vaccine also prevents malaria infection from spreading from one person to another. In this way, it not only treats, but also breaks the chain of the disease.

Who is making this vaccine?

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has licensed this vaccine to 5 Indian companies of the country. These companies are Indian Immunologicals Limited, Techness Lifecare Private Limited, Panesia Biotech Limited, Biological E Limited and Zidas LifeSians. Now these companies will produce this vaccine on a large scale of vaccine and after the trial on humans it will be made available across the country. Edfalciax vaccine is very important because it stops the dangerous parasites of malaria before it spreads to the body. Doctors and scientists hope that after its trial on humans, when this vaccine will be largely, India can be made malaria free before 2030.

Medicines for viral infections: 36 -year -old IT Consultant Rajneesh Kumar was a victim of 103 degree Fahrenheit fever this month. He was advised to take Dolo-650 three times a day for five days a day. But even after two days, there was no improvement in fever. On the third day, he was given additional medication to reduce information and pain with Dolo-650, when the temperature started falling slowly on the fourth day. Like Rajneesh, in hospitals across the country, such patients have increased in this season, whose fever is not being cured by medicines like paracetamol or dolo-650. For a long time, these drugs were considered the first line security against seasonal infections. Let us tell you why this is happening.

Viral infection

Dr. Amit Rastogi, a specialist at PSRI Hospital, New Delhi, says, “Some viral infections are becoming more intense and frequent in this season, so the same drug cannot control fever in all cases.” They further stated that dehydration, nutritional deficiency, low dosage or not following a gap of six hours can also reduce the effect of paracetamol. “Not just every fever is viral. Diseases like dengue, flu, bacterial infections or typhoid can also occur, in which only paracetamol is not enough.”

When to contact a doctor?

Dr. Rastogi says, “If the fever exceeds 48 hours despite the correct dose and interval, or the temperature goes above 102–103 degrees Fahrenheit, seek medical help immediately.” Warning signs for caution are sharp headache, chest pain, difficulty in breathing, vomiting, rash on the skin, abdominal pain or excessive weakness. People with young children, elderly and heart diseases, diabetes or low immunity should also be checked on moderate fever.

What can be the real reason?

Dr. Santosh Kumar, Director, Sanjeevani Clinic explains that changing viral strain is a reason for long fever, but not alone. “Diseases like pneumonia, urinary tract infection or typhoid also do not react to paracetamol.” According to doctors, the problem should not be limited to symptoms only. Investigations like blood count, dengue/flu test, or chest X-ray can be necessary so that the real cause of fever can be known.

Treatment and care

Supporting measures such as adequate hydration, rest, and temperature and oxygen monitoring are still very important. If bacterial causes are found, doctors can prescribe antibiotics. Stubborn viral fever may require other entepieratics or hospital monitoring. Dr. Rastogi says, “Every patient’s condition is different. Quickly diagnosis and correct treatment are the most important.” Paracetamol works in mild fever, but if the thermometer is continuously increasing, it is not enough to take medicines. Find out the real region and seek help from the doctor.

Delhi has seen a tremendous increase in malaria cases this year. A total of 264 malaria cases were registered in the capital till 6 September, which is the highest figure from January to September in the last five years. Last year, 237 cases were registered during the same season, while 138 cases were registered in 2023, 34 in 2022 and 37 cases were registered in 2021. In the last five years, compared to total malaria cases, 792 cases have been registered in 2024, 426 in 2023, 263 in 2022 and 167 in 2021. There were only two deaths in these years in one 2022 and one in 2023.

Due to increase in malaria cases

According to senior MCD officials, a major reason for increasing the case this year is more testing and monitoring. Earlier there was only blood slide test and there was no facility to test many hospitals, dispensaries and labs. Now widely testing is being done through rapid diagnostic kits. However, all matters cannot be considered as local malaria in Delhi. There are some migratory cases, that is, when people from the surrounding areas come to hospitals in Delhi or someone comes to a relative in Delhi and becomes infected, then its cases are added to the figures of Delhi. A total of 54 migratory cases were registered in Delhi this year.

Malaria again

Some patients do not complete the medicine, due to which malaria can be re -resurrected. When the patients do not take full medicine, the symptoms disappear but the parasites live in the body and can grow again. In addition, a mosquito can cut the infected person and spread malaria in others. According to Dr. Jugal Kishore, Vardhman Medical College and former chief, Community Medical Department, Safdarjung Hospital, many times local doctors prescribe medicines without correct diagnosis. The drugs used in the treatment of malaria should be taken for 15 days, chlorocwin and pimchalin, but often it does not happen.

Why are mosquitoes growing?

Open drains, congestion and dirt create an ideal atmosphere for mosquitoes. MCD says that there is no shortage of staff anymore and transfer has been stopped so that after the monsoon, there can be adequate monitoring at the time of spreading malaria.

Rescue and treatment

Malaria specialist Dr. J.M. According to Dua, malaria is caused by plasmodium parasites, which spreads from the bite of anophyllis mosquitoes. Symptoms of malaria appear 9–14 days after mosquito bites and may include high fever, headache, chills, vomiting and fainting in severe cases. People are advised to go to the nearest health center and take the medicine. Destroy mosquito breeding sites, keep closed with tanks, drums and utensils and maintain cleanliness.

The Central Government has prepared the National Strategic Plan: Malaria Elimination 2023-27, which aims to completely eliminate zero local malaria cases by 2027 and malaria by 2030. The scheme includes district -wise scheme, surveillance and treatment measures.

Malaria vs dengue: Today is Malaria Day on 25 April. The aim of this day is to aware of people about malaria and take necessary steps to eliminate it. Malaria is a major problem in India. Every year a large number of people are vulnerable to it. This disease spread by mosquitoes spreads more in summer, especially when it rains.

Similarly, there are symptoms of dengue. Therefore, most people are confused about malaria and dengue. Like malaria, dengue also spreads through mosquitoes, but there is a big difference. Let’s know who is more dangerous in malaria and dengue …
