An earthquake of 6.2 magnitude occurred in the western part of Japan on Tuesday. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the eastern region of Shimane Prefecture. At present, no immediate information about loss of life or property has been received. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation.

no danger of tsunami
The Japan Meteorological Agency said that no tsunami warning was issued immediately after the earthquake. The administration has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors and keep an eye on official information.

Different estimates regarding the intensity of the earthquake
While the Japan Meteorological Agency has reported the earthquake’s intensity as 6.2, the US Geological Survey (USGS) has recorded its intensity as slightly less, i.e. 5.8. There is a slight difference in the estimates of both the agencies regarding the earthquake data.

Military forces started aerial survey
Japan’s Defense Ministry has said that aerial inspections are being conducted by military aircraft to assess possible damage. At present no major loss has been confirmed.

Strong tremors felt in Yasugi city
The earthquake in Yasugi city of Shimane Prefecture was recorded as upper level 5 on Japan’s Shindo scale. At this stage, unsecured furniture may fall and drivers may have difficulty controlling the vehicle. After the earthquake, local administration and disaster management agencies have become alert. People have been asked to remain alert and prepared for any emergency.

On Thursday (4 September 2025) in Afghanistan, the earthquake tremors were felt once again. According to the National Center for Sisamology (NCS), this shock was of 4.8 intensity on the Richter scale and its depth was measured 135 kilometers. The earthquake occurred when the country felt another shock late on Wednesday night. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 4.3 on the Richter scale and its depth was only 10 kilometers.

Constant tremors have further increased the anxiety and fear of the people in the affected areas. Experts say that earthquakes that occur in such a short interval can be a sign of afterchox (post -earthquake shock). The effect of the earthquake depends not only on its intensity, but also on its depth. Wednesday’s earthquake was close to the surface with a 10 -km depth, so its effect was felt more. The 135 -kilometer depth earthquake was deep than before, so its effect may decrease on the surface, but such shocks reflect the severity of seismic activity.

Regional impact and apprehension
Afghanistan is a sensitive area in terms of seismic activity. Small and big shocks keep coming here from time to time. The earthquake increases cracks in houses, panic and security concerns in local population. Experts believe that such frequent activity may also be a sign of the possibility of large earthquake.

Death toll beyond 1 thousand
The death toll in the most devastating earthquake in Afghanistan has reached beyond thousand. A spokesperson of the Taliban government said on Tuesday that the death toll in the fierce earthquake in East Afghanistan has exceeded 1,400.

Earthquake in tajikistan: According to the National Earthquake Science Center (NCS), on Sunday (April 13), a 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Tajikistan. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 km above the ground.

The NCS reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was 38.98 degrees north latitude and 70.61 degrees pre -longitude. Posting on X (first Twitter), NCS wrote, “Earthquake intensity: 4.5, date: 13 April 2025, time: 8:04 pm (IST), location: Tajikistan, Depth: 10 km.”

Two more earthquakes in Tajikistan

According to the National Earthquake Science Center, two more earthquakes were recorded in Tajikistan on Sunday. The intensity of the first earthquake was 6.1 on the Richter scale, while the intensity of the second was 3.9. Both earthquakes came at a depth of 10 km from the ground.

The United Nations Development Coordination Office says that the areas of Tajikistan and the weak communities living there are constantly in danger of natural disasters like earthquakes, floods and landslides. These disasters are becoming even more dangerous due to climate change. Every year thousands of people become homeless due to these disasters and also damage the country’s economy. This affects about 1.3% of Tajikistan’s GDP (GDP).

Earthquake tremors were felt in many countries on Saturday too

Fast earthquake tremors were felt in India and its neighboring countries on Saturday afternoon. Along with the Kashmir region of India, there was an earthquake in Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tonga and Papua New Guinea. The intensity of these earthquakes was between 4.0 and 6.0 on the Richter scale. The tremors in Tajikistan and Pakistan were quite strong, while the intensity of the earthquake was also measured in Tonga and Papua New Guinea.

There was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Pakistan on Saturday afternoon. Its center was in Rawalpindi near the capital Islamabad. People felt shocks in many parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). There were strong tremors in Islamabad, stuck, Chakwal and other cities of Punjab as well as in areas like Peshawar, Mardan, Mohammad and Shabakdar.

The earth is constantly trembling

In the last few days, frequent earthquake tremors are being felt in many countries of Asia. On March 28, a major earthquake in Myanmar caused heavy havoc. This earthquake was 7.7 intensity and its effect was seen in Myanmar as well as in many surrounding countries. Due to this powerful earthquake, there was a big loss of life and property. Since then, the earth has been shaken many times and continuous earthquake tremors are being felt.

Earthquake News: Earthquake tremors were felt in the morning in the Union Territory of Ladakh on Monday (24 March). The intensity of this earthquake on the Richter scale was measured 3.6. According to the National Sismology Center (NCS), the earthquake struck at 4.22 am 58 in the morning. As soon as earthquake tremors were felt, people came out of their homes.

In the morning, the epicenter of this earthquake was at 34.35 northern latitude in Ladakh’s capital Leh and 10 km deep on 78.06 Eastern longitude. Local people said that they woke up with the earthquake and then they came out of the houses. However, no loss of life and property of this earthquake has been reported. The team of administration and disaster management is monitoring the situation.

Ladakh is considered sensitive in terms of earthquake

Ladakh is located near the Himalayan Mountains, which is why it is considered a sensitive area in terms of earthquake. Experts say that it is common for small earthquakes to come here, but there is also a risk of major earthquakes. This time the earthquake that has occurred is normal. This time too, the earthquake has measured 3.6 intensity on its Richter scale. Such earthquakes are less likely to damage.

Why do earthquakes come?

There is always upheaval under the surface of the Earth. The plates inside the earth are constantly colliding or moving away. For this reason, earthquakes keep coming. Before understanding the earthquake, we should understand the structure of the plates below the earth. According to experts, there are 12 tactoneic plates in the earth. The energy that comes out when these plates collide, are called earthquakes.
