An agreement has been reached between Iran and America in the Middle East, but the month of July 2026 is going to be very important for both the countries from the political point of view. The funeral of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is going to be held in many cities of Iran from 4 to 9 July. To give the last salute to its former leader, Iran chose the day when America would be celebrating the 250th anniversary of its independence with great enthusiasm on July 4. The whole world is going to keep an eye on these two developments.

Iran will mourn Khamenei’s funeral procession

The burial program of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will take place from July 4 to 9. According to the official statement, ceremonies for Khamenei and his family members will be held in Tehran, Qom and Mashhad. His body will be kept in Tehran Mosallah on July 4 and 5, 2026. A ceremony will take place in Qom on July 7, 2026. Ultimately, Ayatollah Ali will be buried at the shrine of the eighth Shia Imam in Mashhad on July 9, 2026. After this, celebrations will be organized in the second largest city of Iran.

Why will US celebrate on the day of Khamenei’s funeral?

On the other hand, 4th July will be America’s independence day, when the entire US will be celebrating it. President Donald Trump said that he will address an event at the National Hall on July 4, 2026. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei assumed this post after the death of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in 1989. On February 28, Khamenei and some of his family members were killed in the attack by America and Israel. Since then, America launched several attacks on Iran one after the other. Khamenei’s funeral was delayed due to such security concerns and lack of preparations for the expected large crowd.

Iran gave a strong message to America

When Iranian students stormed the American Embassy in November 1979 and took 66 US citizens hostage, no one thought that this crisis would drag on for 444 days. The then US President Jimmy Carter had used all his strength to rescue these hostages. He even planned a secret military rescue operation in April 1980, but the mission failed miserably when an American helicopter crashed in the Iranian desert, killing 5 US soldiers.

This failure tarnished Carter’s credibility among the American public. The result was that he lost the presidential election again and the path to Ronald Reagan’s victory was cleared. Iran chose the day of his departure to give Carter the last political wound. On January 20, 1981, just as Carter was leaving the White House, Iran released the hostages so that Carter could not take credit for the biggest victory he faced during his entire presidency.

Trump could not achieve the target

In the current war between Iran and America, Trump could not achieve everything that he had said during or before the war. Iran was weakened to some extent in this, but it made its stance clear by attacking American bases in the Middle East. There was neither a change of power in Iran nor did it abandon its ballistic missile project, regarding which several rounds of meetings were held before the war. On the other hand, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, which disrupted the global oil supply.

Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be buried on July 4, almost 130 days after his death. According to ANI report, Bihar Governor Lieutenant General (retd) Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita will represent India at the funeral and burial rituals of Khamenei. Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian had officially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend these programs.
