US Iran Deal: In January 2020, Donald Trump had said something, which is in discussion again today. Trump had said that Iran might not win any war, but it would not be easy to defeat it in negotiations. After six years, the new agreement between America and Iran has again brought this statement into the headlines.

In fact, in the fierce war that lasted for months, America and Israel carried out thousands of air strikes on Iran, destroyed its military bases and killed many big leaders. At first glance it seemed that Iran had become completely weak. But after this, Iran made such a move that oil prices started skyrocketing, pressure on the world economy increased and ultimately America had to return to the negotiating table. Now the question is arising whether Iran won the talks despite suffering losses on the battlefield?

War started due to America-Israel attack

On February 28, America and Israel carried out about 900 coordinated air strikes on Iran. Many senior military commanders including the then supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were killed in these attacks. After the initial shock, the Iranian leadership regrouped itself and elected Khamenei’s son Mojtaba Khamenei as the new supreme leader.

How did Iran create pressure?

It was difficult to compete with the military power of America and Israel, so Iran adopted a different strategy. Along with Israel, it carried out drone attacks on countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. Its purpose was to increase regional and economic pressure. In March, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, affecting about a fifth of global energy supplies. Brent crude, which was at $73 per barrel before the war, reached above $126 per barrel in April. The rise in prices of fuel and essential commodities affected consumers around the world.

America claims, but questions remain

America says that it conducted more than 13 thousand air strikes, targeted more than 50 Iranian military bases and destroyed more than 300 ballistic missile launchers. Apart from this, 155 Iranian naval ships and patrol boats were also sunk. However, many experts believe that the survival of the Iranian regime and its retaliatory capabilities show that the US and Israel did not achieve a decisive military victory.

Pressure for compromise increases on Trump

As the war dragged on, dissatisfaction with it began to increase within America and its allies. The pressure to open the Strait of Hormuz also increased. In such a situation, the Trump administration started looking for a way to reach an agreement with Tehran. Ultimately a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries in Versailles, France.

Who wins in the agreement?

Trump’s main goal was to stop Iran’s nuclear program, but the final framework is yet to be decided after 60 days. On the other hand, Iran has received big benefits like relief in sanctions, $300 billion fund for reconstruction and ceasefire in Lebanon. According to analysts, the biggest strategic victory is regarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to the agreement, Iran will allow ships to pass without duty for 60 days, but the possibility of imposing duty after this could become a big source of revenue for it in the future.

No matter how many claims Pakistan makes about finalizing the deal between Iran and Pakistan, it is not getting anything. Pakistan is trying to prove its role in the deal between the two countries and repair its image of promoting terrorism. Because of this, Pakistan will not shy away from betraying Iran along with America. Regarding this, PAK Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reached America on Friday (29 May 2026).

Iran denies any deal with America

US sources have confirmed Axios’ report that the two sides had agreed to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to extend the ceasefire and begin talks on Iran’s uranium enrichment. Only after this Ishaq Dar has reached America tour. Under the deal, it has been said that ships will pass through the Strait of Hormuz without toll and permission.

However, Iran’s Tasnim news agency, citing a source close to Tehran’s negotiators, said that the draft has not been finalized. It said that if any agreement is reached then Pakistan will be informed.

Trump speaking unilaterally will not lead to agreement: Iran

According to the report, Iranian sources said, ‘Any agreement will be final only when it is announced by Tehran. There will be no compromise if Trump speaks unilaterally. US Vice President JD Vance has said that both sides are close to reaching an agreement, but no agreement has been reached yet.

According to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry, Ishaq Dar and Marco Rubio will meet, in which bilateral relations will be reviewed. Apart from this, views will be exchanged on regional and global developments of mutual interest. Pakistan is not directly saying that Ishaq Dar has gone to America regarding the deal between the two countries, but the timing of his visit tells everything.

America tightened its grip on those who helped Iran

America has imposed many new sanctions, tightening the noose on the network that provides financial support to Iran’s army and IRGC. Under the ambit of these sanctions, those companies, individuals and ships were included, which were sending Iranian oil and petrochemicals to other countries. Apart from this, the US Treasury Department has also taken action against some Hong Kong companies which were involved in illegally selling Iran’s oil worth billions of dollars.

Hours after Iran’s stern warning, US President Donald Trump has said that he is still hopeful of a deal with Tehran. Amid rising tensions and fears of regional conflict, Trump made it clear that America is giving priority to diplomacy, although all options are kept open.

According to Fox News report, while talking to reporters in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Trump reacted to the statement of Iran’s supreme leader. He said that in the current situation such things are natural. Trump further said why would he not say this? This is what he would say in this environment.

Emphasis on diplomacy, but warning also remains

Donald Trump said that his government is paying attention to the negotiations and their goal is to reach an agreement so that Iran does not have nuclear weapons. He also said that if there is no agreement, the future situation will become clear. Trump expressed hope that an acceptable solution can be found through talks. According to him, it is possible to reach an agreement that is without nuclear weapons and is satisfactory to all parties.

Protests and American pressure in Iran

This statement has come at a time when protests have been going on in Iran for the last several weeks. These demonstrations began in late December due to economic troubles and living difficulties, but later became the biggest political challenge since the 1979 revolution. There was a strong crackdown by Iranian security forces on these demonstrations, in which there were reports of deaths and arrests of thousands of people. After this, America increased its naval presence in the Middle East and Trump warned Iran that if the nuclear deal was refused or violence against protesters continued, it could intervene.

Khamenei’s warning increased tension

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Sunday (February 1, 2026) that if America attacks, the entire region could turn into war. He termed the ongoing protests in Iran as a coup supported by America and Israel. Khamenei said that the Iranian people are not afraid of any threat. He also added that Iran will not take the initiative to attack any country, but any attack will be given a strong response.

The path of dialogue is still not clear

There are mixed signals regarding talks from both the countries. Trump said that Iran is talking seriously to America. At the same time, Iranian officials have also indicated that the possibilities of talks are being discussed. Although Iran says it is ready for “fair” talks, it will not accept any restrictions on its defense capabilities.
