Negotiations are going on between America and Turkey on the deal for 5th generation fighter jet F-35. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed opposition to this deal. Now Donald Trump has reacted on this. The US President said that no outside leader influences US arms sales.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump dismissed Netanyahu’s objections to providing arms to Ankara. Not only this, Trump also called Turkiye a close ally. Trump said, ‘No one tells me what we should sell. Turkiye has been a great ally for me.

Netanyahu reaches America, will hold meeting with Trump

This comment of Trump is also important because Netanyahu reached Washington on Monday. Where a meeting is also to be held between the two leaders, in which the topic of regional security and war with Iran has been kept at the top.

Netanyahu had opposed Trump’s decision
Earlier this month, Netanyahu had opposed the possible sale of America’s F-35 stealth fighter planes to Turkey. He warned that such a move would change the regional balance of power. In an interview with CNN, Netanyahu said he personally urged Trump not to approve the sale because Trump had indicated he was considering reversing sanctions imposed during his first term.

Netanyahu told CNN, ‘The sale of America’s most upgraded fighter planes does not make Turkey America’s friendly country.’ Referring to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Netanyahu said, “Ankara is a regime that is infected with the Muslim Brotherhood, that hates the United States.”

If Turkey gets F-35, the consequences will be dire: Netanyahu

Netanyahu warned that supplying fighter jets to Turkey would have wide-ranging consequences regionally. He said that he directly requested Trump not to sell fighter planes to Turkey because doing so would upset the balance of power in the Middle East.

According to CNN report, this came after Trump said that his administration will soon decide whether to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey despite the sanctions imposed by Congress, and he also announced that the sanctions imposed on Ankara’s purchase of Russian S-400 air defense system will be lifted.

What did Trump say about Turkey?

Trump said, ‘We have a good relationship with Turkey and in many ways Turkey has been more loyal than other countries that we expect to be loyal.’
According to CNN report, Erdogan has indicated that Ankara believes it is close to finalizing a deal to purchase US-made engines for US F-35 fighter jets and Turkey’s indigenous KAAN fighter jets.
