usa news: The White House on Wednesday welcomed the steps taken by the interim government to ensure the safety of all after the remarks of US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard on the violence against minorities in Bangladesh. The White House said that the US supports efforts by the interim government of the Asian country to implement security measures.

US State Department spokesman Tami Bruce said in a media briefing, "America strongly condemns the incidents of violence or intolerance against minorities in any country."

‘Keeping Nazar’

He said, "We condemn the incidents of violence or intolerance against minority communities in any country and welcome the steps taken by the Interim government to ensure the safety of all in Bangladesh. We are keeping an eye on this situation and hope that these efforts will continue."

Recently controversy has arisen over the statement made by Tulsi Gabbard to an Indian TV channel. In his statement, Gabbard claimed that the threat of violence against minorities in Bangladesh and Islamic terrorists is associated with the ideology and purpose of the rule of an Islamist Khilafat.

‘Recently started conversation’

He further said that the conversation between the interim government of Bangladesh, led by US President Donald Trump and Mohammad Yunus, is still in the early stages, but the issue of Islamic terrorism still remains a matter of serious concern. The Bangladesh government strongly criticized Gabbard’s remarks and called it the country’s reputation to tarnish and misleading.

Bangladesh’s Chief Advisory Office issued a statement saying, ” "Gabbard’s statement has damaged the image of the entire country. This statement is misleading and hurts the image and prestige of Bangladesh, as our country has traditionally followed inclusive and peaceful Islamic practices and has achieved remarkable progress against extremism and terrorism."
