Every child in the country dreams of studying in Delhi. For this, they work hard so that their name can appear in the merit list. If it is your desire to take admission in Delhi, then read this news carefully, because thugs are not backing down from playing with the golden dreams of children. Actually, UGC has released a list of 22 universities which are running in a fraudulent manner. Taking admission in these universities will ruin the career of the children, because the degrees of these universities will not be valid. The important thing is that 10 universities in this list are from Delhi only.

What is a fake university?

Under the UGC Act 1956, any university can grant degrees only if it is recognized by the government. But these 22 institutions were calling themselves universities without any permission. People spend lakhs of rupees on these, thinking that they will get a real degree. The truth is that their degree is useless. UGC has clearly said that the degrees of students studying through them will not be valid.

Most rigging in Delhi!

A base of fake university was found in the capital Delhi. A total of 10 fake institutions were caught here. Recently, the Institute of Management and Engineering running in Kotla Mubarakpur also turned out to be fake. Neither the Central Government nor the Delhi Government, no one recognized it. Despite this, these people were distributing degrees like MBA, B.Tech.

These are 10 fake universities of Delhi

All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences (AIIPHS)

What do we do now?

Check your university: Visit the official website of UGC (ugc.gov.in) to see whether your university is recognized or not.

Before enrolling: Always check whether the university is in the UGC list or not.

Already reading?: If you are reading in any of these, get out immediately. The degree will be useless.

UGC gave this advice

UGC Secretary says that we are constantly keeping an eye on fake institutions. Students are advised to take admission only in recognized universities. Every year thousands of children fall into their trap. This not only wastes their money and time, but also ruins their career.

In today’s time, education is very important. An educated person can live independently and without anyone’s help. For this, students take admission in different universities and colleges for further studies. But what if one day you find out that your university is fake?

Recently, the University Grant Commission (UGC) has once again cracked down on an unrecognized engineering college that claims to be legitimate. UGC has issued a public notice regarding the Institute of Management and Engineering, which was found to be fake in the investigation, in which it has alerted the students.

UGC caught many fake colleges

Along with this, UGC has caught 22 fake educational institutions and released their list, which are running in some selected states as recognized universities. Most of them are making money in some educational hubs including Delhi, UP. Out of the list of these 22 universities, 9 are present in Delhi, which in itself is quite high. In such a situation, apart from Delhi being the capital, the use of heavy words like National, Institute of Technology, Management in the brand promotion of these institutes also helps in trapping the students.

There are more fake educational institutions in big cities

There are many reasons for the existence of fake institutions in big cities. The first reason for this is anonymity in numbers, that is, from engineering to medical, there are so many institutes today that it is very difficult to differentiate between real and fake. Also, students keep coming here throughout the year and the line for admission here never ends. Apart from this, the condition of UP is even worse. Here, to earn money, fake universities just have to add Vidyapeeth, Parishad or Open University before their name. In such a situation, this business which provides easy admission process and renowned degree to the students is flourishing.

Don’t fall into the trap of fake universities.

The biggest reason for the running of these fake universities is our carelessness. Often, while taking admission, parents and students blindly believe the university’s brochure and take admission without checking. In such a situation, to save the students from the clutches of these fake universities, UGC has released the list of all recognized and unrecognized universities, which you can easily check by visiting the UGC portal. Apart from this, before admission, please verify all the credentials of the university on DigiLocker or NAD.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned 37 universities to upload all mandatory information on their websites. The Commission has said that if these universities do not do this work within two weeks, then under the UGC rules their recognition, courses and degree programs can be banned.

UGC Secretary Professor Manish Joshi has made public the names of these universities. A total of 37 universities including Agra-based Agravan Heritage University, Dehradun’s Maya Devi University, Bhopal’s Azim Premji University and Jabalpur’s Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic University are included in the defaulter list.

Students suffer loss due to ignoring rules

Senior sources said that despite repeated notices being sent to these universities, they are not following the UGC rules. Due to this, students and parents do not get correct information. Many students have complained that universities take admissions on the basis of misleading information.

UGC says that it is mandatory to regularly check and update the websites of all higher education institutions. This step has been taken to provide correct information to the students and ensure transparency in education.

What details are mandatory to upload?

Detailed information about all courses and degree programs

Admission Process and Fee Structure

academic calendar

Faculty and Staff Information

University recognition and affiliation

UGC’s ultimatum

UGC has clarified that this two-week ultimatum is a final warning. After this, if the university does not update its website, the Commission will take strict action against them. This action includes banning all their courses and degree programs.

This step of UGC is being considered an important initiative towards increasing transparency and credibility in education. The Commission believes that lack of correct information on the website creates confusion for the students and they find it difficult to take the right decision.

A big news has come out for students across the country. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has banned the distance learning of psychology i.e. distance education course. This decision has affected more than 1.3 lakh students. These include students who are currently doing the undergraduate or postgraduate course of psychology and also those who already have a degree in this subject. Now such students have started worrying about the validity of their degree and further studies.

Causes to stop
The UGC took this step because psychology now comes under the National Associate and Healthcare Professional Commission (NCAHP). NCAHP is a government institution monitoring health -related professions, which was established in 2021. Under this, the Destance Education Branch of the UGC withdrew the permission to run the distance course of psychology to the universities that were running it earlier.

Students and teachers increased concern
This decision has created a lot of concern and confusion among students and teachers. Many universities who had been running this course for years, are now upset with this sudden decision. Students are also worried about what will be recognized by their degree and how their career will be affected further.

Dr. US Pandey, former Principal of Delhi University School of Open Learning, says that the syllabus of the distance course is similar to the regular course, so it is not right to close it. At the same time, many experts believe that the distance courses are not completely suitable in healthcare work.

Increasing popularity of distance course
Psychology’s distance courses have become increasingly popular in the last few years. In 2020-21, 17 universities across the country used to offer such courses, which increased to 57 in 2024-25. In Telangana and Tamil Nadu, most of the state universities are offering these courses.

Experts believe that this decision is against the National Education Policy (NEP). The aim of NEP is to make education accessible to everyone, but the facility of students has adversely affected by banning distance learning.

Students’ problems
After this decision, it has become a matter of great concern for students and graduate students currently studying. Students are now worried about whether their degree will be considered valid or not. At the same time, students who have already received degrees in this subject, can face further studies or jobs.

Role of UGC and NCAHP
The purpose of installation of NCAHP is to ensure the quality and standards of health professionals. By bringing psychology under this board, the UGC has banned distance learning. However, instead of giving time to students with this decision, it was immediately implemented, due to which students and teachers are facing confusion.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared 54 private universities in the states as defaulters. Notice was issued to these universities because they did not make public the necessary information on their website. Due to not giving information, it was difficult for students and parents to get the right information about universities.

UGC Secretary Professor Manish Joshi made it clear that students should have complete knowledge of university, college or higher education institute before admission. This includes the university’s recognition, the name of the course, the medium of education, the evaluation system, the number of students in UG, PG and PhD, off-campus placement, dropout rate, qualifications of teachers, sports facilities and reservation.

The UGC has warned that if these universities ignore the instructions, more strict action can be taken against it. Officials say that higher education regulator has been monitoring and tightening private universities in the last few months. In July, 23 other institutions were also warned on violation of rules.

This is the list

Uttar Pradesh:

Amity University, Mohali

NIILM University, Kaithal

ALSO READ: Opportunity to apply for vacancy in RBI today, apply for this recruitment immediately

What does this notice matter to students

The UGC has warned these universities to take corrective steps immediately. If the institutes do not upload the necessary information soon, then the Commission can take more strict action against them.

This notice is very important for those students who are going to enroll in these universities or are already studying. Not having complete information on the university website can cause problems for students in the decision. Therefore, students and parents are advised to check all the information on the website of the institute before admission.

A big news related to the world of higher education has come out. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken a big decision that from the coming academic session July-August 2025, psychology, nutrition and other health related subjects will no longer be in online or distance education (ODL) mode.

The UGC has issued clear instructions to all universities and higher educational institutions that they will now be able to teach these subjects only in regular i.e. offline mode. The Commission says that teaching subjects which are directly related to healthcare and practical training can be harmful for both students and society.

This restriction has been implemented under the National Associate and Health Carestone Commission (NCAHP) Act, 2021. The subjects included in this Act such as psychology, microbiology, food and nutritional science, biotechnology, clinical nutrition and dietary will no longer be allowed to read through remote or online.

What did UGC secretary say?

UGC Secretary Manish Joshi has said that from July-August 2025 and since then these courses will be completely banned from presenting them in online or distance education. Even if an institution is already recognized by these subjects, then it will also be withdrawn. Also, no university will be allowed to admit new students in these courses.

The biggest reason behind this decision is being said to be the quality of education. The Commission believes that subjects like psychology and nutrition cannot be learned only from books. Practical knowledge, laboratory work and field training are necessary in these.

However, this decision will apply only to those subjects which come under the NCAHP Act, 2021. It is worth noting that UGC has already banned many practical and commercial courses online and distance education. These include engineering, medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, architecture, physiotherapy, paramedical, agriculture, horticulture, hotel management, catering technology, visual art and law. Now psychology and nutrition have also been added to this list.

Decision taken in the meeting

This decision was formally approved in the recently held UGC meeting. In fact, it was recommended in the meeting of the 24th Distance Education Bureau of Education Group held in April 2025. It was expressed in that meeting that online studies of practical and health related subjects can drop students’ skills and training levels. The Commission has accepted this recommendation and implemented it.

The college and university campus of India will now be more cautious about shameful events like ragging. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued strict instructions to all higher educational institutions that in cases of ragging, now not only physical or mental harassment, but any comment made on language, field, caste, color, religion, gender, birth place or economic background will also be considered ragging. That is, now it will also be a legal offense to call someone with narrow identity like ‘Bihari’, ‘Jat’, ‘Chinki-Panki’.

Institute on alert mode before new session

Admission process of new session has started in universities across the country. Keeping this in mind, the UGC has asked all institutions whether it is IIT, IIM, NIT, Medical, Law, Engineering or Management College to strictly follow the Anti-Ragging Regulation 2009 and the new revised guidelines.

Strictness will be seen in campus

Now every institute will have to form an anti-coaging committee on its campus. This committee will do surprise inspection of places like canteen, hostels, toilets, bus stands. Apart from this, now CCTV cameras will have to be installed in the dark place i.e. such corners where there is not usually no monitoring. Dialogue and counseling will be done regularly with students, so that the danger can be imposed at the beginning of ragging.

Awareness campaign will be done through video

Earlier, students were made aware only through posters and workshops, now UGC will convey the message of anti-ragging to parents, students and teachers through small videos. The purpose of this step is to strengthen students at emotional and mental level as well.

Changes in online application also

Now it will have to be given information about anti-coagling in college admission form and it will be mandatory to take an affidavit not to ragging from students and their parents. This will be a legal document in which the student will promise in writing that he will not be involved in any kind of ragging.

Information on website for transparency

On the website of every institute, information about the names, mobile numbers, landline, email etc. of the members of the Anti-Ragging Committee will have to be made public. If any kind of complaint comes, immediate action will be taken.

A fake notice went viral on social media after an air strike on terrorist bases in Pakistan and POJK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) by the Indian Air Force. In this notice, it was claimed that there are “war -like conditions” in the country and all examinations have been canceled. Also, students were advised to return home immediately. This rumor spread panic between students and parents.

However, the University Grants Commission (UGC) immediately reacted to this, saying that this notice is completely fake and students should not believe any kind of wrong information.

The exam is not canceled

Posting from its official X account, UGC wrote, “A fake public notice in the name of UGC is going viral, stating that all examinations have been canceled. We clarify that UGC has not made any such announcement. This notice is completely fake.”

UGC confirms this notice is fake. There are no such directions from UGC.

On behalf of the UGC, it was said that all official information is released only on the UGC website and social media handles. Spreading such rumors is a legal offense and strict action can be taken against it.

Rumor spread after Operation Sindoor

This fake notice went viral just after Operation Sindoor, in which the Indian Army made accurate attacks on 9 terrorist bases in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. In these locations, the top terrorists of organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) were present.

Appeal to students

UGC has appealed to all students and parents to rely only on official sources and stay away from rumors. Exams will be according to the scheduled schedule.
