Women Unemployment Rate in India: We all know more or less about the role of women in society. If women become self-reliant, the entire society will develop and equality will also come, but what will happen when the unemployment rate of women in the country reaches its highest level in three months.

The revelations of the Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS) on Wednesday show that the unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above increased marginally in September, but for women it reached its highest level in three months.

PLFS data shows that the unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above increased from 5.1 percent in August to 5.2 percent in September after declining in the last two months. At the same time, for all age groups this rate increased from 5.1 percent in August to a three-month high level of 5.3 percent.

How is the situation in the villages?

The unemployment rate for people aged 15 years and above in rural areas increased from 4.3 percent in August to a three-month high of 4.6 percent in September. At the same time, in urban areas this rate increased from 6.7 percent in August to 6.8 percent. In rural areas, the unemployment rate for men increased from 4.5 percent in August to 4.7 percent in September, while for women it increased from 4 percent in August to 4.3 percent. In urban areas, the unemployment rate for women increased from 8.9 percent in August to 9.3 percent in September, while for men it increased from 5.9 percent to 6 percent.

Improvement visible in labor participation

The data showed that the overall labor force participation rate (LFPR) for people aged 15 years and above continued to increase for the third consecutive month, from 54.2 percent in June 2025 to 55.3 percent in September, which is a five-month high. LFPR in rural areas increased from 56.1 percent in June 2025 to 57.4 percent in September. LFPR in urban areas remained unchanged at 50.9 percent compared to August. In September, the LFPR for women aged 15 years and above was 34.1 percent, which is the highest level since May 2025.

Out of which about 16.7 percent people believe that the reconstruction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh is the biggest achievement of the Modi government in the last 11 years. Subsequently, the second biggest achievement of the government on 7 May is Operation Sindoor, which got a total of 12.2 percent votes in the survey. About 10 percent of the people admitted that the development of infrastructure in the country under the leadership of the Modi government is the biggest achievement of the NDA. Whereas, 9.3 percent of the people said that the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir was the most important achievement of the last 11 years of the Modi government.

What is the biggest failure of Modi government?

According to a survey by India Today-C voter, the greatest failure of the NDA government in the tenure of 11 years since 2014 has been considered as unemployment spread in the country. In the survey, 27.1 percent people expressed their opinion on this matter. Apart from unemployment, people also described many other problems as the failure of the Modi government. In the survey, 6.5 percent of the people have given slow economic growth, 5.8 percent of people, communal violence and an atmosphere of fear in minorities, 5.3 percent of women safety and 4.8 percent people have considered failure to control terrorism as NDA’s biggest failures.
