Kuldeep Singh Sengar, former BJP MLA from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is serving life imprisonment on rape charges. His daughter Aishwarya Sengar has written an emotional letter to Home Minister Amit Shah demanding protection of the victim and her family in the rape case. The logic behind which is that the victim is constantly publicly expressing fear of suicide or murder.

Expressing concern in the letter, Aishwarya wrote that the victim is repeatedly threatening in the media and social media that if Kuldeep Singh Sengar is granted bail or released, she will commit suicide. Aishwarya has expressed doubt that if any untoward incident or accident happens to the victim or the victim’s family, the entire blame will be put on her father.

Mention of old events in the letter

Aishwarya mentioned in the letter to the Home Minister that in 2018, the victim had attempted self-immolation in front of the CM residence, against which a case was registered under media pressure and her father (Kuldeep Sengar) was arrested. Aishwarya also mentioned in the letter the 2019 road accident in which the victim was injured and her relatives died. Aishwarya told that CBI, IIT Delhi, CFSL and CRRI had clearly considered this incident to be an accident. Delhi Court acquitted him and there was no appeal. But the media and the victim’s side still accuse her father of attempted murder.

Media accused of creating narrative

Aishwarya further wrote in the letter that the media’s coverage of this case created a narrative due to which the right to a fair trial was taken away. As soon as any relief decision comes, protests and movements start. Or worse a shock to the family.

Aishwarya demanded that the victim be given constant protection and the media should not be misused. The letter made it clear that it is only for justice and human sympathy and not for any sympathy for oneself.

Supreme Court had canceled the bail

The Kuldeep Singh Sengar controversy erupted when on December 23, the Delhi High Court granted him bail and suspended his sentence. After which the Supreme Court canceled the decision of the High Court on 29 December.

The Supreme Court on Monday (29 December 2025) stayed the order of the Delhi High Court, in which the life sentence of Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the 2017 Unnao rape case was suspended. The bench of CJI Surya Kant, Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Augustine George Masih issued a notice to Sengar and sought his reply on the CBI petition in which the High Court order has been challenged. Mahmood Pracha said that CBI is still not cooperating. Speaking to news agency ANI, the victim’s lawyer said, ‘We felt that the CBI would hide things from us and they did so. They (CBI) withheld the copy till last night. This has been a strategy not only in this case, but also in the Hathras case.

Kuldeep Sengar got death sentence: Victim

The victim’s family has expressed happiness over the stay order of the Supreme Court. The victim said, ‘I am very happy with the court’s decision. I got justice from the Supreme Court and am confident that I will continue to get it in future too. I will continue to fight this battle and ensure that he gets death sentence, only then our family will get true justice. I am grateful to all those who stood by me and helped me get justice. My father’s soul will rest in peace only when Kuldeep Singh Sengar is hanged.

Law should work without pressure: Kuldeep Sengar’s sister

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Sengar’s younger daughter Ishita Sengar wrote a post on X that her family has been quietly waiting for justice for the last eight years and has maintained its faith in the law and institutions. She wrote that her identity has been limited to just the daughter of a BJP MLA and she has had to face constant hatred, abuse and threats on social media. He said, ‘My family neither wants any concession nor sympathy, but only wants the law to work without any pressure or fear and the evidence to be investigated impartially.’

Victim’s mother’s demand and questions on justice

The victim’s mother has also expressed deep displeasure over the court’s decision. He said that it does not matter whether the accused lives at home or 500 kilometers away, what matters is that he has committed a crime and he should be punished. He agreed that both parties have the right to appeal, but the court should conduct a fair hearing keeping in mind the victim and the incidents that happened to him. He clearly says that in such a serious case the accused should not get bail at all. This statement shows that the victim’s family is still holding out hope for justice, but the recent verdict has dealt a deep blow to their faith.

Delhi High Court granted bail to former BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case. This relief has been given on the bond of Rs 15 lakh. Sengar will not threaten the victim and she will have to submit her passport to the trial court. The High Court ordered that if any condition is violated the bail will be cancelled. Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted by the lower court and sentenced to life imprisonment.

It is noteworthy that the Unnao rape case took place in the year 2017, in which Sengar was the main accused. The case took a serious turn when Sengar’s brother allegedly beat the victim’s father to death in police custody. Sengar was convicted in this case and is currently lodged in Delhi jail.

Kuldeep Singh Sengar was arrested by CBI in April 2018. In July 2028, a charge sheet was filed in this case in which Sengar was also named. In December 2019, Sengar was sentenced to life imprisonment in this case. After the announcement of the punishment, Sengar lost his MLA membership and was also suspended by BJP from the party.
