An important update has come out for lakhs of students associated with Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council (UP Board). UP Board has released the official schedule of experimental examinations of Intermediate (12th) class for the year 2026. These examinations will be conducted by the board in two phases, so that evaluation can be done in a smooth and systematic manner in all the divisions. With this decision, not only will students and teachers get a chance to prepare in advance, but the examination system will also be managed in a better way.

The examination will be held in two phases, the first from January 24, 2026.

Let us tell you that the intermediate practical examinations of the first phase will be conducted from 24 January 2026 to 1 February 2026. In this phase, 10 divisions of the state have been included, which include Agra, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Lucknow, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Devipatan and Basti divisions. However, practical examinations will not be conducted during this period on 29 January and 30 January 2026. The reason for this is that the written examination of UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) is to be conducted on both these days. Due to UPTET examination, there will be educational holidays in many schools of the state, due to which it has been decided to postpone the practical examinations on these dates.

8 divisions included in the second phase

Whereas, the second phase intermediate practical examinations will be conducted from 2 February 2026 to 9 February 2026. 8 divisions of the state have been included in this phase. In these, experimental examinations of students will be conducted in schools of Aligarh, Meerut, Moradabad, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Gorakhpur divisions. The aim of the board is that evaluation should be done equally in all the boards and no student should face inconvenience.

UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh gave information

UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh has given information in this regard by issuing an official release. He clarified that the practical examinations will be conducted as per the scheduled dates and schools have been instructed to complete all the necessary preparations in time. The board has also appealed to the students to stay in touch with their schools, complete experimental files and records on time and ensure their preparation keeping the exam dates in mind. After the release of this schedule, students and parents will now find it easier to plan for the examination.

UP Board has created history this time. It has been more than 100 years since the establishment of the board, but for the first time the layout of the high school and intermediate answer sheets i.e. copies has been completely changed. This change has been made not just for show, but to stop copying, stop swapping of copies and to provide better facilities to the students in writing.

The UP Board exam of 2026 will be conducted between 18 February and 12 March. This time the number of students appearing for the board exams is more than 52 lakh 30 thousand 297. These include 27.5 lakh students of class 10th and about 25 lakh students of class 12th. For such a large number, about 2 crore 60 lakh new copies are being printed, which will be distributed in all the districts by January.

Why is the layout of the copies being changed?

Till now, UP Board copies were made in wide format. This format was in use for a long time, but this time the board has completely changed it. Candidates are going to get longer copies in 2026. With this, students will get more space while writing and their writing will also look clean and organized according to the page.

Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh says that the biggest benefit of changing the layout will be that exchanging copies will now become almost impossible. This is a big blow to the copying mafia, because with the new layout the identity of the copy will change and any kind of discrepancy will be detected.

Special color coding in copies

• A copy of 12th – 24 pages, in which information will be printed in magenta color on the first page.
• B copy of 12th – 12 pages, in green color
• A copy of 10th – 18 pages, brown color
• B copy of 10th – 12 pages, green color

There will be the monogram of the Secondary Education Council on every page of every copy. This will leave no scope for duplication of the copy i.e. making a fake copy. Identification of the copy will be ensured at every level and attempts to replace the wrong copy will fail. Printing of new copies is being done in government presses of Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi and Rampur, so that security and quality can be fully monitored.

UP Board’s biggest step so far to stop cheating

UP Board, Asia’s largest examination body, has been working on the mission of making the examination cheating-free for the last several years. Hi-tech centres, CCTV cameras, checking of scanned copies – many such improvements have been made. But changing the layout of the copy in the 2026 examination is considered to be the biggest and most effective step taken so far. After this decision, it will be very difficult for the copying mafia to change the copy. Board officials claim that this will further increase transparency in the examinations, and will also strengthen the confidence of the students.

This historical change came after 100 years

The history of UP Board is very old. It was established in 1921 and the board examination was conducted for the first time in 1923. From then till now there has never been any major change in the layout of the copies. This is going to happen for the first time in 2026, which the board is considering as a historic step. Currently the board has released the provisional list of 7448 examination centres. The final list will be released on 30 December 2025. Whereas, the practical examinations of 2026 will be held in January.
