Now the environment of college and university education is going to change in Uttar Pradesh. A big change can now be seen in the freedom that students used to wait for after finishing school. The Governor and Chancellor of all the universities of the state, Anandiben Patel, have given instructions to implement the uniform system in all the universities and colleges of the state. Till now it was not necessary to wear uniform in colleges and universities, but after the new order, students may have to come to the institutions in prescribed dress only.

This decision was taken in the review meeting chaired by the Governor. He says that like schools, implementation of uniform in colleges will also reduce social and economic discrimination among students. Many times, due to clothes and lifestyle, students feel different from others, but uniform will bring a feeling of equality among all the students and the study environment will be better.

Emphasis on making girl students self-reliant

In the meeting, Governor Anandiben Patel laid emphasis not only on uniforms but also on preparing students, especially girls, for employment. He instructed universities and colleges to start new employment based courses.

He said that to make girl students self-reliant, courses like beautician training, mehndi design, GST, accountancy, bindi making and making food items from millets should be started. She believes that such courses will help girl students to get employment and start their own business along with studies.

Along with degree, skill is also important

The Governor also said that good programs which are already running in universities and colleges, should be implemented in other institutions also so that more and more students can benefit from it. He clearly said that in today’s time a degree alone is not enough. Students should also have skills so that they are ready for job or self-employment after completion of studies.

Special attention to the safety of girl students

There was also a special discussion in the meeting regarding the safety of female students. The Governor gave instructions to improve the arrangements of women’s colleges and hostels. He said that girl students should get a safe and respectful environment. For this, it has been asked to form such committees in all colleges and universities where students can express their problems openly and they can be resolved quickly.

Instructions given to teachers also

A strict message was also given to the teachers in the meeting. The Governor said that no teacher should do anything that harms the dignity of the teaching profession. He instructed to hold classes on time, ensure regular attendance of students and pay attention to their overall development along with studies.
