UPI i.e. Unified Payments Interface has made people’s lives very easy. Now there is no need to carry ATM everywhere. Nor is there any need to go anywhere with big cash. Just took the mobile in hand and set out. This is the miracle of UPI and this miracle has been working for 10 years in India now. UPI has made India a digital India, not only this, it has given India a unique position in the world of digital payments.

Share in global real-time digital payments
On completion of 10 years of UPI, the government has released some figures, along with this it has told what has been the global share in the world of digital payments. According to the government, India has a 49% share in global real-time digital payments. This shows how fast our country is progressing and moving forward.

Transactions done in January 2026
At present everyone is dependent on digital payments. In January 2026 alone, 21.70 billion transactions took place through UPI. Whose total value was Rs 28.33 lakh crore. UPI’s share in total retail digital transactions in India has reached 81 percent, which tells about its popularity and necessity. International Monetary Fund IMF has described UPI as the world’s largest real-time payment system. The special thing is that it was developed in less than 10 years, and during this period it has recorded an increase of more than 12,000 times in transaction volume and more than 4,000 times in value.

From vegetable vendors to rickshaw pullers.
The real strength of UPI is not only its data but also its usage by the people. Vegetable and fruit vendors, auto rickshaws, shopkeepers, big showroom owners as well as common people who go shopping also use UPI. Be it cities or rural areas, it is being used everywhere. It has made people’s lives much easier. That’s why everyone has encouraged it.

international scope
UPI has made its mark not only in India but also abroad. This system has also reached countries like Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France, Mauritius and Qatar. Due to which cross-border transactions and remittances have become easier. The government believes that UPI is no longer just a payment system, but it is becoming a comprehensive financial platform.
