What is the difference between IAS and IPS?

During initial posting, IAS officers get responsibilities like SDM or Assistant Secretary, while IPS officers get ASP or DSP level posts. How does salary increase with promotion?

With time and experience, the salary of both IAS and IPS officers keeps increasing. When IAS officers reach the District Magistrate or Joint Secretary level, their basic salary increases from Rs 78,000 to Rs 1.18 lakh. After this, the salary on posts like Principal Secretary and Additional Secretary can exceed Rs 1.8 lakh. On the other hand, the salary of IPS officers also increases with promotion. Increases from.
