The top and difficult exam of the country UPSC Civil Services Main Examination (UPSC CSE) is starting from today. Admit cards for candidates have already been issued. This year the main examination will be held in two shifts between 22 August and 31 August. The morning shift is going on from 9 am to 12 noon, while the afternoon session will run from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Who are eligible for this exam?

A total of 14,161 candidates have been successful in this year’s Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 results. These candidates are now eligible to appear in the main examination. UPSC Mains is an important part of the written selection process. Candidates who have passed the main examination will then be called for personality testing or interview.

What to take in the exam and what not?

It is mandatory for the candidates to keep the admit card for admission in the examination hall. The admit card should have a photo of the candidate. Apart from this, ID Proof will also have to be taken along. According to the reporting timing, the morning shift candidates should report till 8:30 pm and the afternoon candidate till 2 pm. After this, no candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall.

UPSC has given clear instructions that no electronic goods have to be taken to the examination hall. It includes mobile, smartwatch, peemer, camera, gadgets and any type of communication device. By doing this, strict action can be taken against the candidate. Candidates have been advised not to bring their bags or expensive items in the exam hall, because the commission does not have the facility to keep it. Only pen, pencil and water bottle are allowed to be carried.

Special instructions for girls

Candidates have been advised to wear light clothes in the examination and not to wear any kind of metal jewelery. This will make the security check and admission process simple and intensified.

UPSC Civil Services Mains is not only written examination, but it is the first important step of selection in top services like Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS). Candidates who score good marks in this exam will be included in the interview round and will be ready for final selection.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the timetable of Joint Defense Services (CDS) II Exam 2025. Those candidates who are going to be part of this prestigious examination, they can now get complete information about the schedule by visiting the official website upsc.gov.in. How many posts will be recruited?

This year, a total of 453 posts will be recruited through CDS II exam. The application process for this has been completed by 20 June 2025. Millions of candidates have registered to participate in this exam.

When will the exam be done?

According to the schedule issued by UPSC, the CDS II exam will be held on 14 September 2025 (Sunday). There will be a total of three shifts in this exam and each shift will be of two hours.

The English paper will be from 9 am to 11 am. General Knowledge (GK) paper will be taken from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The preliminary mathematics examination will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm. Candidates have been advised to reach their examination center ahead of time so that any inconvenience can be avoided. Through this examination, the selected candidates get an opportunity to become an officer in the Indian Armed Forces.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct prelims (prelims) of Civil Services on Sunday, 25 May. Candidates who have registered for this exam can now download their e-admit card from UPSC’s official website-upsconline.gov.in. All the candidates taking the exam will be required to bring with them printed copy of e-admit card and a valid photo identity card (eg Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License etc.). Without these two documents, admission will not be given to the examination center. What is prelims

UPSC Preliminary Examination (Prelims) is a type of screening i.e. retrenchment examination. The numbers found in it are not added to the last merit list. This means that the purpose of prelims is only to decide which candidates are eligible to give main examinations. Only those candidates who pass prelims, will be able to sit in the main examination ahead. In the end, the rank that is made, only the main examination and interview numbers are added, not prelims.

Questions are asked in this way, know the full pattern

In the preliminary examination of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), there are two objective (MCQ based) paper, each of which is of 200 marks. The first paper is General Studies Paper-I, in which topics related to history, geography, politics, economy, science and technology as well as questions related to current developments are asked. The second paper is CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test), which is also known as General Studies Paper-II. In this, the ability of candidates to understand, logical thinking, mathematical skills and analytical abilities is examined.

The main exam will be done on this date

Both papers are in Hindi and English language and every paper gets two hours time. The special thing is that CSAT paper is only qualified, that is, it is necessary to pass in this paper, but its marks are not added to merit. It is mandatory for the candidate to bring at least 33% marks (66 marks) to pass CSAT. Let us tell you that the main exam is likely to start from August 22.

Uday Krishna Reddy, a resident of Vollapalem village in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh, has set an example in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination by achieving 350th All India rank.

State Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu appreciated Reddy through the post on the social media platform and said that this success proves that any goal can be achieved through resolution and hard work. He said that the future who works, the future is his.

In 2013, Reddy found appointment to the post of constable at the age of 19. After the death of his parents, his grandmother Ramanamma and maternal uncle Koti Reddy raised him. Uday Krishna Reddy said that he always wanted to prepare for the UPSC exam. He had a dream since childhood that he should prepare for this exam. But he had to do a job before the mother’s father did not happen.

Selection was done in railway management in 2023

He left the job to prepare for UPSC. In the first attempt in 2019, he reached the interview, but missed the selection. The preparations for the year 2020 were interrupted due to Corona. He said, ‘I could not be selected in the preliminary examinations in the years 2021 and 2022.’ In the year 2023, after getting 780th rank, selection was done in the Railway Management Service. After this, once again tried and achieved 350th rank.

Birdev Siddhappa Dhone: The son of a Dhangarh village of Yamge village of Kagal tehsil of Kolhapur district of Maharashtra has done wonders. In the first time, the name of his family and state has also illuminated the UPSC examination pass. He took the Central Public Service Commission examination in 2024. At the age of 27, this exam has already been cracked in Birudev 551 V rank in Atamt. On Tuesday afternoon, the results of the Central Public Service Commission examination came out and Birudev was celebrated as soon as he got success in Yamge village of his Kagal tehsil.

Birudev’s mobile was missing and when he went to the police station to complain, the police did not help him, while Birudev decided that he would become an IPS officer and Birudev studied hard day and studying for 22 hours daily. He camped in Delhi for UPSC studies and illuminated the name of the parents.

In the tenth and twelfth grade, Birudev passed the top number at the Murgud center of Kagal tehsil and entered the SOEP Engineering College in Pune to study. Birudev’s father Siddhapa has also studied till the twelfth grade, but after that he lived his life while doing traditional business to graze his goats.

Seeing the dream of making Birudev a big officer, when Birudev went for the preparation of UPSC in Delhi, his father would take him a lot of trouble and send 10 to 12 thousand rupees and Birudev would live for the same amount. His father kept advising to do a separate job several times, but the insistence, Birudev finally became an IPS officer and his family members saw the days of happiness. Birudev’s brother is filling in the army.

Birudev’s parents and married sister and brother are such a family. If a son of a Dhangarh, he decided to pass the UPSC exam, he has proved that he has not given up. Now with this success of Birudev, the name of Birudev Dhone is being discussed in Kolhapur district as well as Maharashtra.

This operation was led by Inspector General (IG) of NIA and Ashish Batra, 1997 batch of Jharkhand cadre. Born in Haryana, Batra chose the path of UPSC after studying engineering and in 1996 he was selected in IPS. He has done several operations in Naxal -affected areas and in 2018 he was also appointed IG of Jharkhand Jaguar. Currently he is working in the post of IG in NIA.

IPS made after doing MBBS

The second member of this team is IPS Jaya Roy, whose journey has been from MBBS to civil services. Jaya Roy, originally from West Bengal, studied medical and then passed UPSC and became an IPS in Jharkhand cadre in 2011. Since 2019, he has been working as DIG in NIA. Jaya, who has led the team that clamps down on cyber criminals in Jamtara, is an important face of national security today.

IITIAN’s country protector

IPS Prabhat Kumar, the third member of this operation, has received an engineering degree from IIT Kharagpur. Prabhat, who belongs to Bihar, also worked in the private sector but the dream of service brought him to UPSC. Prabhat, who became IPS in 2018, is currently SP in NIA and was also the coordinator of this operation.
