Passing UPSC, one of the most difficult and prestigious examinations in the country, is the dream of millions of students every year. But this journey is not so easy. Similar is the story of a daughter of IAS Divya Tanwar, who despite limited resources, set a new example of success by winning the most difficult examination of the country.

The life of Divya Tanwar, resident of Mahendragarh district of Haryana, was full of struggles. He did his early education from a government school and later completed his studies from Navodaya Vidyalaya Mahendragarh. Divya was always a bright student. His interest in studies was so deep that he started preparing for UPSC as soon as he completed his graduation in Science.

Achieved great success without coaching

Divya passed the UPSC exam in her first attempt in the year 2021 and achieved All India Rank 438. At that time his age was only 21 years. This success was even more special because he achieved this position on his own, without taking the help of any coaching institute.

But Divya did not stop here. He took the exam again in the very next year i.e. 2022 and this time he performed even better and achieved All India Rank 105. With this rank he fulfilled his dreams and got the honor of becoming an IAS officer.

Courage did not waver despite financial constraints

Along with her hard work, her mother also had a big contribution in Divya’s success. His father left him early and the entire responsibility of the house fell on his mother. The mother raised three children by working as a laborer and never let Divya’s studies get interrupted. Divya often says that if my mother had not shown courage, I would not have been able to reach here today.

Dream of becoming IAS since childhood

Divya got the inspiration to become an IAS during her school days. Once an IAS officer came to his school as the chief guest. His uniform, his personality and his responsibility towards the society deeply influenced Divya. From that very day he decided that he too had to become an IAS and work for the country.

Tanu Sri was married in 2015, but he never left his dreams behind. She is an officer of the 2017 batch of Agmut cadre and has served as SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. He is currently posted as SP in the State Investigation Agency (SIA) in Kashmir.

Was smart in studies since childhood

Tanu Sri was born on 24 April 1987 in Motihari, Bihar. He completed his schooling from Dav Public School, Bokaro. His father has been DIG in CRPF, due to which he got discipline and inspiration for the service of the country since childhood. He graduated in History (Honors) from Miranda House College, Delhi University and started preparing for competitive examinations from then.

First became Assistant Commandant, then the path of selected IPS

Tanu Sri started his career as Assistant Commandant in CRPF in 2014. He also passed the Income Tax Department examination, but did not appear in it. His real dream was to become an IPS officer, which he fulfilled with hard work and dedication.

Elder sister became inspiration

He got the inspiration to become IPS from his elder sister Manu Sri, who is a commandant in CRPF. Manu Shri encouraged Tanu Shri and guided him at every step.
