A big and important decision regarding Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) has been taken in the first meeting chaired by the newly appointed Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, Dr. Prashant Kumar. It was told in the meeting that before determining the examination dates, the examination calendar of other commissions and recruitment institutions will be studied in depth. Only after this a new timetable will be decided, so that the examinations do not clash with each other and they can be conducted in a transparent and smooth manner. It is clear from this decision that the TET exam to be held on 29 and 30 January 2026 will also be postponed.

15 lakh candidates will be affected due to postponement of UP Tet

Due to the postponement of TET exam, about 15 lakh competitive candidates of the state will be affected. The Commission says that this decision has been taken with the aim of avoiding haste and maintaining complete purity in the examination process. It was also decided in the meeting that an internal vigilance system would be established to bring transparency in the functioning of the Commission. Under this, a Vigilance Officer will also be appointed in the Commission soon, so that the work related to examination and recruitment can be effectively monitored.

Detailed calendar will be released soon

The Commission has assured that a detailed examination calendar will be released soon to conduct the recruitment examinations in a timely, fair and transparent manner. In this regard, Commission’s Deputy Secretary and Public Relations Officer Sanjay Kumar Singh has issued a press release giving information about the decisions taken in the meeting.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has ensured various rights and concessions for disabled candidates. To provide equal opportunities in government jobs, the Commission has reserved 4% vacancies for candidates with benchmark disability (with at least 40% disability). Apart from this, the Commission has also given concessions like relaxation in age limit, extra efforts and special facilities in the examination.

Reservation and eligibility in vacancies

A total of 4% reservation has been fixed for disabled candidates in UPSC. This reservation has been distributed among various disability categories. 1% reservation for those candidates who have complete or partial blindness (Low Vision). 1% reservation for candidates with hearing impairment. Apart from this, a separate category has been created for candidates with multiple disabilities. Candidates of this category are not eligible for reservation in other individual categories.

What is the eligibility?

To avail the benefit of any reservation, it is mandatory for the candidate to have a valid disability certificate. This certificate should be issued by the Medical Board of the Central or State Government.

Relaxation in age limit and efforts

Disabled candidates are given special relaxation in age limit in UPSC. Along with this, more attempts are also allowed in Civil Services Examination (CSE). Its objective is to provide adequate opportunity to those candidates who, due to disability, may take time to prepare and perform as compared to the general candidates.

Special facilities and help in examination

Choice of Scribe: Candidates can change the name of their scribe up to 7 days before the examination. This facility is for candidates who are visually impaired or unable to write.
Screen Reader Software: UPSC has been directed to prepare a complete plan for the use of screen reader software for visually impaired candidates.
The objective of these facilities is to ensure level playing field for candidates with disabilities in the examination and to enable them to answer independently through technical assistance.

Legal framework and rights

The rights of disabled candidates are protected under the Constitution and Civil Service Rules. Taking steps in this direction, UPSC has also implemented the guidelines of the Supreme Court and the Ministry. The Commission aims to ensure that the examination process is fair and inclusive for all candidates.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has taken a big step for the convenience of the candidates and launched a new application portal from 28 May 2025. Now, to participate in all the UPSC examinations, candidates will have to apply through this new portal. Its purpose is to make the application process more simple, faster and transparent.

Till now the one time registration (OTR) system used to run has been closed. Now the candidates will have to apply directly by visiting https://upsconline.nic.in and uploading their documents here. This change has been implemented by the Commission especially from exams like CDS Exam-II, 2025 and NDA & NA-II, 2025, whose notification has also been issued on May 28.

What is the specialty of the new portal?

UPSC has informed that this new portal is divided into four parts, so that students do not face any problem while applying …

Account Creation – Candidates can first make their profiles.

Registration – Through this, the profile will be prepared by filling the basic information.

Common Application Form – General details will have to be filled here for all examinations.

Exam Specific Section – For a particular examination, the necessary information will have to be filled as per the notification.

Relief from time and trouble

UPSC says that this new system will save students from the last time. Now candidates can fill the first three parts whenever they want and as soon as no examination notification comes, they can complete the application by going to the fourth part. This will also save time and the experience of applying will be better than before.

Aadhaar card required for identity

The Commission has also suggested that all the candidates should use Aadhaar card as proof while applying. This will easily confirm their identity and there will be no possibility of disturbance in any document. Also, information related to Aadhaar will be in the form of a permanent record in all examinations.
