Why Period Pain Should Not Be Ignored: Period pain, PMOS and frequent urinary tract infections are among the health problems of women, which are often ignored as normal. For generations, women have been taught that pain during periods, irregular periods or a burning sensation during urination are normal. Gradually many women learn to live with these problems and start planning their daily routine according to these symptoms. But the fact that a problem is common does not prove that it is normal.

It may not be known for many years

According to Divya Balaji Kamerkar, CEO and co-founder of Pinky Promise, this thinking of accepting women’s health problems as normal becomes the biggest obstacle in timely treatment. She says that many women do not realize for years that there is something wrong with their body, because people around them keep telling them that this happens with every woman.

Lakhs of women in India suffer from this

Lakhs of women in India are affected by period related problems, PMOS and UTI. Research published in JAMA Network has underlined the increasing burden of polycystic ovarian disease in Indian women. Many national studies have also revealed that this problem is increasing rapidly and a large number of women are not able to get treatment for it for a long time. Despite this, there is very little open discussion on these topics. Women often take advice from friends, search for home remedies on the internet or adapt themselves according to the circumstances.

Read this also – Summer Fatigue: Feeling tired again and again in summer, know which disease is this a sign of?

Every year one in five women becomes a victim

Divya Balaji Kamerkar says that according to estimates, almost one in five women may be affected by PMOS. UTI is one of the most common reasons for women to reach hospital or clinic. Almost every woman experiences problems related to periods at some level or the other. This is the reason why these symptoms are often not taken seriously.

When should period pain not be considered normal?

Experts say that if the pain of periods is so much that it starts affecting daily activities, then it should not be considered normal. Problems like excessive bleeding, dizziness, persistent fatigue, nausea or unbearable cramps may be a sign of conditions like endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, thyroid disorders or PMOS. Similarly, frequent UTI is also not just a temporary problem, rather it can indicate some deep problem in the body. However, now facilities like tele-consultation, digital health platforms and online communities have made it easier than ever to seek help. Still, the biggest change needs to come in thinking.

Back Pain And Kidney Connections: Often people ignore back pain considering it normal. But this does not happen every time, in many cases this pain can also be a sign of kidney related problems. Kidney is an important organ of the body, which works to filter dirt and toxins from the blood. In such a situation, if there is any kind of problem in it, its effect can be felt in the form of pain. So let us tell you today that back pain may not be normal every time, sometimes it can also be kidney pain.

What is kidney pain?

Kidney pain is usually felt below the ribs, on either side of the back or on one side. This pain occurs deep inside and sometimes can spread to the stomach or groin. This pain can be mild and constant or it can be severe and come in waves, especially when there is a problem of stones.

How to understand that it is kidney pain?

It is not easy to differentiate between kidney pain and normal stomach pain, but there are some symptoms which help in identifying it. Actually, kidney pain usually occurs in the side of the back, whereas normal back pain occurs in the middle part. This pain is deep and persistent while the muscle pain subsides with rest or changing position. Sometimes kidney related pain can also spread towards the thigh or stomach. If pain is accompanied by problems like burning sensation during urination, frequent urination, bleeding, fever or nausea, then it can be a kidney-related sign.

What causes kidney pain?

Kidney pain can occur due to many reasons. The most common causes include kidney stones and infection. Apart from this, urinary retention, reverse flow of urine, blockage in the urinary tract, swelling in the kidney, cyst or injury can also cause pain. In some cases, serious diseases like kidney cancer can also be behind it. However, its symptoms are less visible in the initial stage.

Read this also-Explained: Death due to eating watermelon in Mumbai and Golgappa in Jharkhand! Which foods cause food poisoning, what to eat after all?

Which symptoms are seen together?

Some other symptoms may also be seen along with kidney pain. Such symptoms as pain or burning sensation while urinating, frequent urination, blood or cloudiness in urine, fever and chills, vomiting or nausea, weakness or fatigue in the body, may indicate that the problem is not just related to the muscles but to the kidney or urinary system.

How is the treatment done?

Treatment of kidney pain depends on its cause. Antibiotics are given in case of infection, whereas stones may require everything from medicines to procedures or surgery. In severe cases where the kidneys are not functioning properly, procedures like dialysis may also have to be done.

In today’s busy life, we all sometimes ignore the needs of our body. Be it an office meeting, school or college class, long journey or lack of washroom nearby, there are many such situations when we hold back urine. Many times we even deliberately postpone urination, thinking that we will wait for a little longer. But have you ever wondered what effect this habit of repeatedly and for a long time holding urine can have on your health?

The body repeatedly signals us when it is necessary to urinate, but when we ignore these signals, this habit can gradually lead to serious diseases. This can be very harmful especially for the kidneys, bladder and the entire urinary system. So let us know how stopping urination for a long time can damage the kidneys and what diseases it can cause.

How can stopping urination for a long time cause kidney damage?

According to experts, the kidney continuously cleans the blood and produces urine. When we stop urination, urine gets accumulated in the bladder. If this pressure continues for a long time, then this pressure starts going towards the kidneys in the opposite direction, which puts pressure on the kidneys and their efficiency may gradually reduce. Toxins, bacteria and excess salt come out of the body through urine. When urination is stopped, these dirty elements are unable to come out and start getting accumulated in the body. Due to this, the kidneys have to work harder and the kidney cells gradually become weak.

What diseases can it cause?

1. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) – When we stop urination, the bacteria present in the urine are not able to come out, these bacteria start growing in the urinary tract and urinary tract infection can occur. Symptoms of UTI are burning sensation during urination, frequent urge to urinate, less urination, foul smell from urine, pain in stomach or waist. Women are more at risk of UTI, but men can also be affected by it.

2. Kidney Stone – When you drink less water and stop urination, urine becomes more concentrated. Due to this, minerals start accumulating and kidney stones can be formed. Kidney stones can cause problems like severe unbearable pain, vomiting, blood in urine. In many cases, even surgery is required.

3. Weakness of bladder muscles – Constantly stopping urination puts more stress on the bladder muscles. This can cause difficulty in controlling urination, urinary incontinence, and frequent urination. This is also called bladder dysfunction.

4. Higher risk for already ill people – Some people should not stop urination at all. Like men suffering from enlarged prostate, diabetic patients, people with pre-existing kidney disease, people with urinary retention problem, the risk of kidney damage is very high.

Recurrent UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) is not a common problem in women. In the medical world it is also called a ‘silent epidemic’. According to statistics, one out of every two women becomes a victim of this infection at least once in her lifetime and about 25 percent of the women get this infection again and again. Let us tell you Ayurvedic ways to avoid this.

Why does UTI happen?

Bacteria are not the only cause of UTI in women, but the body structure and lifestyle of women also play an important role in it. The urethra in women is shorter than that of men, so bacteria do not have to travel much distance to reach the urinary bladder.

This reason is also responsible

Apart from this, the presence of urethra near the anus also makes infection easier. Due to reduction in estrogen hormone during menopause, the protective bacteria of the vagina are destroyed, which further increases the risk of infection. Besides, drinking less water, stopping urination for a long time, using public toilets and not taking care of hygiene during menstruation also make this problem common.

What is the meaning of UTI in Ayurveda?

In Ayurveda, UTI is not just considered to be a bacterial attack, but it is also called Utricchhatra or enuresis and is linked to the imbalance of Pitta dosha in the body. Too hot, spicy, salty or sour food and indigestion increases pitta, which causes problems like burning sensation in the bladder, frequent urination, pain in the stomach or waist.

This treatment mentioned in Ayurveda

Its permanent and safe solution has been described in Ayurveda. Chandraprabha Vati strengthens the bladder muscles and reduces irritation. Gokshuradi Guggul expels bacteria by increasing the amount of urine. Neeri provides immediate relief and prevents the infection from reaching the kidneys. Apart from this, Chandanasay calms down body heat and completely eliminates burning sensation during urination. Herbs like Punarnava, Varun and Giloy also increase the body’s defense. Also, Ayurveda recommends drinking coriander and sugar candy water in the morning for instant relief. Drinking enough water, taking care of hygiene and avoiding spicy or heavy food also helps in preventing UTI.

Whenever a child is born in a house, diapers are definitely there in the shopping list for that new born child. In today’s time, wearing diapers to small children has become necessary for every parent, especially when there is a lot of work at home or diapers are needed during travel. But along with this, a fear has also increased among the parents. Does wearing a diaper for a long time really have a bad effect on the child’s kidneys? This question and the wrong information related to it are going viral on all social media platforms, after hearing or reading which every parent is worried as to what is the truth of this claim.

Do diapers really harm baby’s kidneys?

Recently, this claim going viral on social media platforms states that wearing diapers has an adverse effect on the kidneys of the child. This claim is absolutely false. According to doctors, the kidney is located deep inside our body, in front of which there is a layer of muscles. If we wear a diaper or any other cloth on the child, it cannot reach the kidneys under any circumstances. Therefore this claim is completely baseless.

How can kidneys get damaged?

Diaper Rash: Having a wet diaper for a long time can make the baby’s skin red, irritated and cause skin damage. But this is a skin problem, not a kidney problem.

Urinary tract infection (UTI): An infection caused by bacteria in the urinary tract, most commonly affecting the bladder. This is a completely bacteria based infection and its symptoms also change according to age in children.

How to use diapers properly so that there is no harm?

Change diaper every 3–4 hours.

If the baby is very small then it is better to change it every 2 hours.

Super-absorbent diaper at night, cloth nappy during the day.

Due to this, the skin keeps getting air continuously.

Allow the skin to dry before wearing a diaper every time.

Wetness is the biggest root of any problem.

Use diaper rash cream or coconut oil.

It forms a protective layer of the baby’s skin.

If you have mild symptoms like headache, cough, fever or cold and you take medicine again and again without consulting the doctor, then be careful now. Health experts say that such self-medication and repeated use of antibiotics is creating such a condition in the body in which the medicine stops being effective. This is called antibiotic resistance which is being considered a big health problem in the coming times.

Shocking revelation in WHO report

According to a new report by the World Health Organization, in the year 2023, one out of every 6 bacterial infections has been found to be resistant to antibiotics. This means that common medicines were not working on so many bacterial infections. WHO said that this problem is most seen in bacteria causing infections in the urinary tract and blood flow. According to the Global Antibiotic Resistance Surveillance Report 2025, the rate of antibiotic resistance is highest in the region of South East Asia including India. According to the report, 70 percent of blood flow infection and more than 78 percent of E. coli infection cases in India have been found to be resistant to antibiotics. This means that common medicines are no longer working and treatment is becoming difficult.

Why is the danger increasing?

Experts say that people buy antibiotics without doctor’s advice and leave the course of medicine incomplete. Due to this, not only the harmful bacteria of the body but also the beneficial bacteria are killed. Due to which gradually such bacteria start growing in the body which cannot be eliminated by any medicine. This condition is called antibiotic resistance. According to doctors, if this condition continues like this then even normal viral can take a serious form. In such a situation, patients may have to stay in the hospital for a longer time and the cost of treatment will also increase. Regarding this, WHO has also warned that if the right steps are not taken even now, this problem may become more dangerous in the coming years.

What to do and what not to do?

Do not take any antibiotic medicine in every minor illness and if there is no improvement in the disease then take antibiotic medicine only on the advice of the doctor.

Finish the course of medicine, do not leave it midway.

Do not give the medicine that the doctor has prescribed for you to anyone else.

Also, take care of cleanliness and try to avoid infection as much as possible.

If you also have the problem of urinating immediately every time you drink water, then it may be a mistake to take it lightly. This is not just a matter of hydration, but can also be an early sign of some serious disease. Sometimes this problem occurs for some time, but if this habit becomes a daily habit then it indicates some imbalance in the body. Doctors say that if the problem of repeatedly going to the toilet after drinking water persists, then it is necessary to get tested. In such a situation, let us tell you today what problems can occur in the body if you start urinating after drinking water.

Drinking too much water can also be the reason

If you drink more water than required throughout the day, the body tries to expel the extra fluid. In such a situation, if you drink more than 3 liters of water in a day then frequent urination is normal. But if you start urinating after drinking a small amount of water, then it can be a matter of concern. Sometimes the caffeine present in things like tea, coffee or cold drinks acts like a diuretic which speeds up the process of urine formation in the body. Due to this also some people feel the urge to urinate frequently.

Overactive bladder starts with frequent urination

Overactive bladder is a condition that occurs when the bladder muscles become excessively sensitive. Because of this, even a small amount of urine is produced and one feels the urge to go to the toilet. If you too have been feeling like this for several days, then you should definitely get yourself checked by a doctor.

Can also be a sign of diabetes

Frequent urination is a common symptom of diabetes. In case of high blood sugar, the body expels extra glucose through urine, due to which the amount of urine increases. Along with this, if you are feeling excessive thirst or feeling tired then it can be a sign of diabetes.

urinary tract infection

Urinary tract infection is more common in women, in this condition the bladder becomes sensitive due to infection and there is an urge to urinate even under mild pressure. If you have symptoms like burning, pain and foul smell during urination, get yourself checked by a doctor immediately.

Kidney stones can also be a problem

Sometimes kidney stones also become the reason for frequent urination. Especially if you feel a burning sensation or pain in the lower stomach while urinating, then it can be a symptom of stones. Dark color of urine or not getting relief even after urination is also a sign that you should get it checked.

How to get rid of the problem of frequent urination?

-Improve the way of drinking water- If you get troubled again and again, then try to drink 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day. But drink slowly and little by little.
-Stay away from caffeine and spicy food- Consume coffee, tea, alcohol and citrus fruits in limited quantities.
-Do Kegel exercises- Doing Kegel exercises strengthens the pelvic floor muscles and increases control over urination.
-Adopt bladder training- Do not go immediately after urinating. Try to wait a little so that the bladder capacity will increase.
-Control weight and stress- Obesity and stress can also increase the problem of frequent urination. In such a situation, try to keep your weight and stress under control.
