After the Alaska Summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, Russia has set the outline of the proposal to end the war. Under the peace proposal, Putin wants Jailonski to leave the eastern part of Ukraine, in return for which Russia will leave the small places that Ukraine has occupied.

According to the Reuters report, the source claimed that Putin’s proposal would be discussed between Trump, Jailonski and European leaders on Monday (August 18, 2025). However, it is not clear whether this is Putin’s last proposal or may be reshuffled. There are some demands of Putin, which will present big challenges in accepting Ukraine’s leadership.

Russia will have to give this area of Donbas

One thing is clear from Putin’s proposal that no ceasefire is happening at the moment, that is, Russia will continue to attack Ukraine. This is a matter of concern for Jailonsky as Russia is attacking with drones and ballistic missiles every day. According to the report, under the proposed Russian agreement, Ukraine will have to give the area of Donnetsk and Lugansk to Moscow, in which Russia will stop attacking in the southern regions of Kherason and Japorijia.

Russia will leave Ukraine land

Jailonsky has already refused to give any land to Russia, including Donnetsk. Ukraine says that this area is very important to respond to Russian attacks to Kiev. According to the report, the land of Russia, North Sumi and North-Eastern Kharkiv region is ready to return to Ukraine, which is currently occupied by Putin’s army.

According to Ukraine’s Deep State Batalfield Mapping Project, Russia has an area of about 440 square kilometers of Sumi and Kharkiv regions. Ukraine controls an area of about 6600 square kilometers of Donbas, which includes Donnetsk and Lugansk region and Russia claims itself.

Ukraine will not be allowed to join NATO

Sources in the report claimed that Ukraine would also be stopped from joining the NATO military alliance. However, Putin is ready to give any kind of security guarantee to Ukraine. It is being told that Russia will demand official status for Russian language in some parts of Ukraine or throughout Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Orthodox Church will also seek the right to function independently.

Ukraine’s security agency has accused the church associated with Moscow of promoting Russia’s war against Ukraine by propagating Russia and sheltering spies. However, the church denied the allegation, saying that it has abolished his legal relations with Moscow.

Democratic leader Chak Shumar described the verdict as a terrible step towards totalitarianism. He feared that it would exclude leaders like Trump from judicial accountability. Democrats believe that Trump is already misusing executive powers and now this decision will give them more open exemption.

Trump’s disputed order attack on birthright citizen

Trump’s effort to end the birthright directly challenges the 14th amendment of the US Constitution, which clearly states that every person born in the US is an American citizen. Trump claims that this policy was made only for the children of slaves, while its scope is much wider than that. It was clarified in his order that if parents are living illegally or in America on visas, then their children will not get citizenship. This policy was already unconstitutional by the courts of states like Maryland, Massachusetts and Washington.
