The Chinese Embassy in the US has recently shared two important messages on the social media platform X regarding China-US relations, in which Beijing’s diplomatic priorities and its stance towards Washington have been clearly reiterated. In these messages, on one hand China has mentioned three principles for bilateral relations, while on the other hand it has mentioned four red lines, which have been said not to be challenged under any circumstances.

What do the four red lines of China mean??

According to the post shared by the Chinese Embassy, ​​the first issue is that of Taiwan. China considers Taiwan as its integral part and considers any foreign interference or support of Taiwan’s independence as against its sovereignty.

The second red line is related to democracy and human rights. China says that issues of human rights and democracy should not be used to interfere in its internal affairs.

The third red line is the path of development and political systems. Beijing believes that every country has the right to choose its own political system and development model and it will not accept any external pressure in this.

The fourth and last red line is related to China’s right to development. China has clearly indicated that it views efforts to stop or limit its economic and technological development as a challenge.

At the same time, in another X post, the Chinese Embassy explained about three principles for China-America relations. The first principle in this is mutual respect, that is, both countries should respect each other’s sovereignty, political system and national interests. The second principle is peaceful coexistence. Under which, despite competition between the two powers, emphasis has been laid on avoiding conflict and maintaining stable relations and the third principle is cooperation beneficial to both the parties, which means that cooperation should be increased on issues like trade, economy, climate change and global security, so that both the countries get equal benefit from it.
