Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said on Friday (July 08, 2025) that India is not ‘dead economy’, but is the fastest moving economy in the world and is moving towards becoming the third largest economy.

Former CEO Amitabh Kant reacted a strong reaction to US President Donald Trump calling India a dead economy at the BT India summit. He said that whenever a crisis comes, India always helps. This is an opportunity when we can move forward by taking steps to eliminate existing rules, procedures and regulations.

The economy increased due to digitization and infrastructure

Amitabh Kant gave credit for the rapid growth of the Indian economy, digitization and growth in infrastructure, saying that India has digitized its economy in such a way that no country has yet done. We have implemented major reforms like GST (GST) and Loeling Disability Code (IBC).

He further said that there should be talk of electrification, collective housing or 88,000 km in the country. Like the construction of roads more than India, other countries have not yet developed such a large scale infrastructure.

India ahead in terms of fast payment

Regarding digital payment in India, former CEO Amitabh Kant said that 1.5 billion people are not digital identity in any other country of the world, we are also ahead in terms of fast payment. This gives great boost to development.

Let us know that US President Donald Trump has announced a 50 percent tariff on India, which is doubled from the 25 percent tariff declared last month. Trump wrote on his social media, ‘India is our friend, but his tariffs are the highest in the world. Their non-modern trade rules are also very strict. Also, India buys the most military equipment and energy from Russia, which is not good at this time.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a new tariff on all his business partner countries. Announcing in the Rose Guard of the White House, Trump said that China will impose 34% tax on imported goods. Whereas 20% tariffs will be charged on others including European country. On the one hand, while this announcement has threatened the global economy, on the other hand the possibility of a trade war has increased.

On Wednesday, Trump signed the executive order and called it Liberation Day i.e. Open Day and said that April 2, 2025 would be reborn for the American industry. 10% baseline tariffs will be imposed on all imported goods in the US, which will directly affect more than 180 countries. Countries like China imposed 34 percent tariffs, 20 percent on European Union, 25 percent on South Korea, 46 percent on Vietnam, 32 percent on Taiwan and 10 percent on Australia.

According to Trump, this tariff installed on his behalf will promote domestic production. He said that his move will bring hundreds of billions of new reviews to the US government and will bring equality in global trade.

Let us see how much reciperoch tariff was imposed on which countries on behalf of Donald Trump:

34%on China, European Union: 20%, South Korea: 25%, India: 26%, Vietnam: 46%, Taiwan: 32%, Japan: 24%, Thailand: 36%, Switzerland: 31%, Indonesia: 32%, Malaysia: 24%, Cambodia: 49%, Cambodia: 49%, United Kingdom: 10%, South Africa: 30%, Brahmil: 10%, 10%, Bangladesh: 37%, Singapore: 10%. Israel: 17%. Philippines: 17%, Chile: 10%, Australia: 10%, Pakistan: 29%, Turkish: 10%, Sri Lanka: 44%, Colombia: 10%tariff.

In his address to the White House, Trump said- My American colleagues, this is the liberation day which was waiting for a long time. On 2 April 2025, the US industry will be re -remembered for rebirth, after which the US -rich campaign was again started. Trump further said that the taxpayers had been cheating for more than 50 years for a long time. But now it is not going to be further. The board, led by Trump, decided to impose 52% US tariffs on India and the duskated recipe will be imposed 26%.

President Trump said that India’s business trek has been very tough about America. He cited PM Modi and said that he is our good friend, but I told him- you are our friend, but you are not behaving well with America. They are charging 52% on us. You have to understand that we did not charge anything for many years and decades. And this happened when I came to American power seven years ago and started it on China.
