External Affairs Minister S.K. Jaishankar has made a big statement on Sunday (October 5, 2025). Jaishankar said that the Laxman lines of New Delhi should be respected in any trade agreement between the two countries. He also said that efforts are being made to find a shared basis in this regard.

Jaishankar admitted in a dialogue session of a program in New Delhi that there are some issues between India and the US and many of them are associated with not finalizing the proposed trade agreement.

We have not been able to reach any agreement for our business talks- Jaishankar

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that it is necessary to make an understanding about trade between India and America, because America is the largest market in the world. However, he also clarified that the Laxman lines of India should also be respected. He said, ‘Today we have some issues with America. One of the major reasons for this is that we have not been able to reach any agreement for our business talks till now and due to not reaching there, some charges have been imposed on India.

Inappropriate levy on buying fuel from Russia- Jaishankar

Jaishankar Kautilya was speaking in a discussion on the form of foreign policy in the Economic Enclave. During this, he said, ‘Apart from this, there is a double fee, about which we have publicly said that we consider it very inappropriate. This fee targets us for buying fuel from Russia, while many other countries are also doing this. They also include those countries which have a more conflict relationship with Russia than at the present.

Us It is necessary to make business understanding with- Jaishankar

The relations between New Delhi and Washington have been under severe stress since the US President Trump doubled the fee on Indian goods to 50 percent. It also includes 25 percent additional fee on the purchase of Russian crude oil from India. India termed this action of America as unfair, unwanted and irrational.

Jaishankar said, “Whatever it is in the end, it is necessary to create a business understanding with America, because it is the largest market in the world and also because most of the countries of the world have made such an understanding with America.” He said, ‘But it should be an understanding in which our basic boundaries, our Lakshman lines can be respected. In any agreement, there are some things on which you can interact and there are some on which you cannot talk.

India’s approach is absolutely clear- Jaishankar

Jaishankar said that India’s approach is absolutely clear. He said, ‘I think we are absolutely clear about this. We have to find that land and talks have been going on since March.

India and the United States have resumed talks on the recently proposed trade agreement after a few weeks of gap. The Foreign Minister also said that the stress in relations is not affecting every aspect of the conversation. He said, ‘There are problems, issues, no one can deny it. Those issues require negotiations, discussions and solutions and this is what we are trying to do.

He further said, ‘I will really refrain from finding anything implications about it more than issues. I think I also want to say that a large part of the relationship is either running as before or in some cases is going on more than before.

It also read: ‘Russia is damaging Ukraine’s infrastructure’, Jailonski accused Putin

Vladimir Putin has strongly criticized the US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose heavy tariffs on India to buy crude oil from Russia. He has accused America of ‘double standard’. He said that America buys a large amount of uranium from Russia. Last year, Russia sold $ 800 million to the US and is expected to sell up to $ 1.2 billion this year. He said that Trump himself is buying uranium and pressurizing India to stop crude oil khardina.

Putin said this at the International Valdai Forum of Security and Geopolitical Experts of 140 countries including India in Sochi, Russia. Putin said that Russia is the second largest uranium supplier in America all over the world and this year it is going to buy $ 1.2 billion from Russia.

America has purchased uranium from Russia $ 800 million
Vladimir Putin said, ‘America is also included in the largest countries in the world using nuclear plants and even if not, but nuclear energy is being built there, not there, which needs a large amount of fuel. We are not the largest supplier of uranium, but is the second largest supplier in America. He said that 25 percent of uranium in the US market goes from Russia and in 2024, Russia earned around $ 800 million by selling uranium to America.

Putin accused Trump of double standards
US President Donald Trump has imposed 50 percent tariffs on Indian goods, out of which 25 percent of tariffs have been imposed as a penalty to buy crude oil from Russia. Western countries have imposed centers on Russia due to the war that has been going on for more than two years with Ukraine, but India buys, which Trump has objected. He has also requested European countries to impose 100 percent tariffs on Russian oil buying countries. However, America itself is buying chemicals, uranium and fertilizers from Russia.

Russia will compensate for the loss of Trump’s tariff
Putin has also said that India’s tariff is causing damage to India, it will be compensated with oil imports. India buys raw on a large scale from Russia, due to which there is a lot of imbalance in trade between the two countries. On the other hand, America is also pressurizing India not to buy oil from Russia, so Putin wants to reduce trade imbalance with India. He has instructed his government to take steps in this direction and said that Russia can buy pharmaceutical and agricultural products from India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump may meet in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia later this month. In fact, leaders of both countries can have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the upcoming ASEAN Summit.

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Malaysia on 26-27 October 2025 to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit. At the same time, Malaysia has also invited US President Donald Trump to attend the conference. If President Trump confirms his participation in this conference, this will be the first multilateral platform, where the leaders of the two countries will face face to face after Washington has imposed 50 percent tariff on India.

America tensions in relations with India

Since the US impositions 50 percent tariff on India’s goods, the relationship between the two countries has been tension. At the same time, on the other hand, America is increasing its closeness with Pakistan these days. America’s tension with India increased even more when Trump targeted New Delhi for energy relations with Moscow, especially crude oil imports.

Criticism has been trumped for the purchase of Russian oil

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized India for importing crude oil from Russia. Apart from this, he has also warned India that such a purchase weakens international efforts to put pressure on Moscow to end the Ukraine war.

Trump’s associate Peter Navarro made sharp rhetoric

Apart from President Donald Trump regarding Russian oil imports, many Trump of Trump’s colleagues have also made sharp statements against India, including the name of Peter Navarro. Navaro, while making statements on India, even said that the ongoing struggle between Russia-Ukraine is Modi’s war. Along with this, he also accused India of making profiteering through its refineries and called India a laundromat of Russian oil.

It also read: Trump’s tension will increase! Putin will come to India for the first time after the tariff, when will PM meet Modi?

Russian crude imports: At this time 50 percent tariff is placed on India with America. In addition to the base tariff of 25 percent of these, 25 percent of 25 percent has been applied as penalty due to purchasing cheap oil from Russia. In such a situation, India has asked the US that if it allows New Delhi to import oil from Iran and Venezuela, then India will stop purchasing oil from Moscow.

Russia, facing international sanctions amidst the Ukraine War, started offering cheap oil. India imports about 90 percent of its needs. In such a situation, the purchase of oil at cheap prices from Russia has helped India to reduce the import bill to a great extent.

India’s condition in front of the US

However, India can also get similar cheap oil from Iran and Venezuela. According to a Bloomberg report, during the US visit this week, Indian authorities strongly put their stand on the issue of oil imports before the Trump administration.

He said in his suggestion that Indian refiners would need to allow the permission to import oil from Iran and Venezuela from Washington to cut the procurement of oil from Russia. Because these two countries are currently imposed international restrictions.

India’s aggressive side

Significantly, this visit of Indian officials has taken place at a time when Washington has put a huge tariff of 50 percent on New Delhi. However, despite the penalty, the purchase of cheap oil from Russia is still going on by India.

At the time of tour of New York, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal indicated that India wants to increase the purchase of oil and gas from the US. He said that America will contribute to our energy security goals. Significantly, since the war between Ukraine and Russia started in 2022, India has increased a tremendous increase in the purchase of crude oil from Moscow.

US President Donald Trump was agitated over a question asked about Russia. After which he told the journalist who asked the question that you find a new job. In fact, US President Donald Trump was answering the questions of journalists present there after meeting Poland President Karol Navoki at the White House. Meanwhile, a journalist of Polish media questioned President Trump about Russia. After which there was an argument with Trump Bhakk and his journalist.

What question was asked by US President,

The police media journalist questioned the US President that ever since Donald Trump took over as President of America, he has not taken any action against Russia yet. He asked, ‘You have claimed to take action against Russia’s President Vladimir Putin many times, but ever since you took over as US President, you have not taken any action against Putin and Russia?’ Responding to this question, Donald Trump said, ‘How do you know that I did not take any action against Russia and Vladimir Putin. Russia has lost billions of dollars so far due to my policies.

US President Donald Trump first asked the journalist, who are you? On this, the journalist said that I am a journalist of Polish media. After this, Donald Trump said, ‘How do you know I did not take any action against Russia and Putin, I have imposed secondary cases on India, which is the highest crude oil -import country from Russia besides China. Russia has lost billions of dollars due to banning India.

Trump said, ‘Russia has so much loss only when I have imposed initial sanctions on India, yet I have not taken the action of Phase-2 and Phase-3. So do you still think I have not taken any action? And if you feel that I did not take any action, then you should find a new job.

The US MP has warned President Donald Trump over the tariff imposed on India by the US. Senior US Congress MP Gregory Mikes said that the heavy tariffs imposed on India by Trump can harm the relationships that Washington has strongly adorned for several decades.

Gregory Mix, the top politician of the Democratic Party in the Foreign Affairs Committee, said that Donald Trump’s arbitrary tariffs are endangered by the important relationship between the two countries. This statement of Mikes has come to light after meeting with Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Quatra in America.

What did the US MP say in the official statement,

Gregory Mikes said in an official statement, “I reiterated my commitment to further strengthening our relationship, discussed the shared hope of peace in Ukraine and expressed my concern about President Trump’s arbitrary tariffs, who are putting in danger of the important partnership of India and America.” He also emphasized that the Congress fully supports the partnership of America and India, which has been deepened in the last 25 years, especially through Quad Summit.

Indian Ambassador expressed gratitude for continuous support

Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Quatra thanked US MP Mikes for his continuous guidance and strong support. In addition, he said that there was a detailed discussion between them on business, energy, indo-pacific and broad issues related to mutual interests. At the same time, Quatra also met separately with Carol Miller, chairperson of Congressonal Energy Export Cocks. During this, he discussed with Carol’s energy security and increasing hydrocarbon trade with the US.

Trump’s criticism for heavy tariffs imposed on India

To import crude oil from Russia, US President Donald Trump had arbitrarily announced an additional 50 percent tariff on India, which has been fully implemented to India some time ago. However, India is under severe criticism in Washington for imposing heavy tariffs. Trump has given rise to a new controversy in Washington. US Congress MPs have accused Trump that he has deliberately targeted India except for China and other big importers who bought a large amount of crude oil from Russia.

GST couricil meeting: The two -day meeting of the GST Council is going to be held from Wednesday. The country and the world have a special eye on this meeting being held ahead of time. Because after the announcement of PM Modi of GST Reform, steps will be taken in that direction. In this, ambitious changes in Goods and Services Tax (GST) may be considered to reduce tax on daily use items.

The GST reform will be taken during the meeting of this GST Council under the chairmanship of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In the proposed reforms, the current 12% and 28% tax slabs are prominent to keep two tax rates of only 5% and 18%. Apart from this, a special rate of 40% will be done on a few selected items.

Why GST Council is important

The tax slab cut and the decrease in prices due to this has been commonly welcomed. But the states ruled by opposition parties are demanding compensation for the loss in revenue due to this change.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Independence Day speech on 15 August told about the plan of GST reforms. Soon after, the Central Government shared a blueprint for the proposed improvement with a group of ministers (GOM) of various states for initial review.

GOM has agreed to the proposal of the center to reduce tax rates. The council will consider these recommendations on 3-4 September.

The news agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the Group of Ministers has supported the imposition of 18% GST on an electric vehicle priced up to Rs 40 lakh, while agreeing hard to the changes in the slabs. However, the central government wants to encourage electric vehicles and is supporting 5% rate for them.

What can be big changes

Ghee, dry fruits, 20 liters of drinking water, salty, some shoes and costumes, medicines and medical equipment are likely to be reduced from 12% to 5% tax slab.

Objects like pencils, bicycles, umbrellas and hair pin can also be brought into 5% slab.

Taxes on electronic goods like TV, washing machine and refrigerator can be reduced from 28% to 18%.

At present, the highest rate and compensation cess of 28% is applicable to vehicles. 18% rate will be applicable to early level cars. At the same time, a special rate of 40% will be applicable on SUVs and luxury cars.

A special rate of 40% will also be applicable to the objects like tobacco, paan masala and cigarettes. Additional tax can also be levied on this category on this category.

Opposition states like West Bengal have demanded that any tax imposed above the rate of 40% be shared with the states. So that their revenue deficit can be compensated. Eight states ruled by opposition parties include Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal.

The tariff imposed on India for importing oil from Russia on behalf of US President Donald Trump is being criticized. Along with many former US leaders, many economists have also called Trump’s move stupid. At the same time, now an American journalist has called Trump’s policy with outrageous and goth -filled with additional tariffs imposed on India.

American journalist Rick Sanchez said in an interview to news agency ANI that America should not treat India as it is a school going to school. He said, ‘India is not a school going to school, but a big boy.’ He said, ‘Donald Trump’s decisions often arise from irritation, malicious and unscientific thinking. I appreciate India that he is standing firm on his decision against Trump’s move.

Most people consider the American policy of secondary tariffs absurd- Sanchez

Sanchez said, ‘America’s policy regarding secondary tariffs is very absurd in most people.’ He criticized America’s perspective in such a way that America needs a supervision in its decision -making process when he was treated with India.

What did Sanchez say about American tariff on India,

Sanchez said that India emphasized the importance of the right to buy crude oil from Russia and to choose its oil suppliers independently, calling it a transformative and dangerous moment. He said, ‘This (of Trump administration) is an abusive and ignorance policy, as they do not understand the reasons for the Ukraine war from the perspective of Russia. But you (to the Trump administration) have to take care of this, to which to some extent Prime Minister Modi has noticed that any policy is derogatory when you start considering a country like India as a school going to school, which has a bright history, resource and ability to be across. This is exactly the same as they are treating India like a school child, who needs to be told what they should do and what not to do. But India is not a school child, he is a big boy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday (August 31, 2025). After meeting Xi Jinping, PM Modi said that the relations between India and China should not be seen from the perspective of a third country. Prime Minister Modi’s comment clearly indicates the aggressive trade tariff policies of the US and President Donald Trump.

In the statement, the ministry said, “The two leaders have discussed the need to increase India and China’s need to increase the shared base on terrorism and multilateral platforms such as bilateral, regional and global issues and challenges.” The statement also emphasized the strategic rights of Asian neighboring countries.

PM Modi’s visit to Japan and China took place at a time when US President Donald Trump is constantly isolating India from Russia to import crude oil and many other issues. At the same time, talk about PM Modi’s visit to China, which has taken place after seven years, then the meeting of him and Chinese President Xi Jinping was held when the two countries are showing softening after a military conflict over border dispute in Ladakh’s Galwani Valley in 2020.

What should Prime Minister Narendra Modi speak to Chinese President,

According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (Mea), Modi and Xi Jinping reiterated that the difference in their votes should not be converted into controversies. The two leaders agreed to the fact that ‘both their (India and China) economies have important role in stabilizing the global trade.’ In addition, he also discussed the need to find the solutions accepted in a fair, logical and both sides of the border dispute.

According to Mea, Prime Minister Modi told Xi Jinping, ‘Both India and China follow their strategic rights and their relations should not be seen from any third country’s perspective.’

US President Donald Trump has no longer a plan to come to India for Quad Summit later this year. The relationship between the US President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being told in the last few months behind this decision of Donald Trump.

The New York Times has claimed in this regard in a report published on Saturday (30 August 2025). The newspaper published a report titled ‘Nobel Prize and a difficult phone call: Trump-Modi Relations Definition’. In this, citing people familiar with Trump’s program, he said, “After telling Modi that he will travel to India for the Quad Summit later this year, Trump has no plan to go to India in the autumn.” However, no official reaction has been revealed from India regarding this claim.

India is hosting a quad summit

India is going to host the Quad summit later this year. The Trump administration hosted a meeting of quad foreign ministers in January 2025 this year. A day earlier, on January 20, 2025, Trump took the oath of office for a second term in the White House.

Trump claims several times to stop Indo-Pak struggle, India denied

Amidst trade tension between India and the United States, New York Times explained how Trump and Modi’s relations deteriorated after repeated claims of trump of arbitration in a four-day military clash between India and Pakistan. However, India denied this claim.

According to the report, ‘Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi got angry with the repeated claims of President Trump to resolve the India-Pakistan struggle and this was just the beginning. It claimed that Modi’s patience towards Trump is responding. Trump and Modi spoke over the phone on 17 June, it was a 35 -minute phone call, which took place after Trump returned to Washington from the G7 Summit in Canada. Prime Minister Modi also attended that conference.

According to the report, Modi and Trump had a meeting to meet during the G7 leaders summit in Canada, Canada, but Trump soon returned to Washington. Before leaving Kananaskis and finishing his first Canada visit in a decade, Modi spoke to Trump in Washington over the phone. During the phone conversation on 17 June, Trump again said how proud to end the military conflict and he mentioned that Pakistan is going to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize. According to the people who are aware of this development, the clear implication of this was that Modi should do the same and the Trump should also be nominated for Nobel.

Modi clarified, Trump has no role in ceasefire with Pakistan

According to the report, ‘Indian leaders were enraged by that statement of the American leader. He told Trump that America’s involvement in the recent ceasefire has nothing to do. This was decided directly between India and Pakistan. Trump ignored Modi’s comments to a great extent, but disagreement and refusal to talk on the Nobel Prize by Modi has played a big role in creating a sour in the relationship between the two leaders. There was once a close relationship between them and who had been going from Trump’s first term.

Trump repeated claims 40 times over Indo-Pakistani ceasefire

The New York Times wrote in its report that the White House did not accept the June 17 conversation nor did Trump give any information about it on his social media handle. Trump has repeated his claim to stop the conflict between India and Pakistan since May 10.

According to the report, since Trump has imposed an additional 25 percent fee on India for the purchase of Russian oil, it seems to be a special huge penalty on India for not being involved in the discourse rather than any kind of consolidated effort to reduce business deficit or cut money for Putin’s war.
