While running the heater, keep some ventilation in the room. A slight gap in the window or door is enough so that fresh air can keep coming. A completely closed room poses the greatest risk. People think that a closed room will get hot quickly. But due to this oxygen decreases and the danger increases.

Never keep the heater near the bed or curtains. Many times the hot air ignites the cloth and the fire spreads. People often make this mistake, especially in small rooms. Always keep the heater on the floor, in a stable place and away from flammable objects. This reduces the possibility of fire to a great extent.

It is not at all safe to keep the heater on continuously while sleeping. If there is excess humidity in the room or less oxygen, the body gradually goes towards unconsciousness. The better way is to heat the room first and turn off the heater while sleeping.

Avoid using extension cords with heaters as much as possible. Often due to overloading the wire gets heated and starts melting and short circuit occurs. Plug the heater directly into the wall socket. If you notice even a slight defect in the wire or plug, replace it immediately.

If there are children or elderly people in the house. So do not keep the heater close to them. Many times it gets touched unknowingly. Which can cause problems. Oil heaters or ceramic heaters are safer options. Because their outer surface does not get very hot.

It is equally important to get the heater serviced from time to time. Accumulation of dust affects the heating element and increases the possibility of smoke. Clean the heater before using it and if you notice any strange sound or burning smell, turn it off immediately. A little common sense makes winter safer.
