VD Satheesan himself has given information through a post on social media. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will also attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Kerala Chief Minister nominee VD Satheesan says that the swearing-in ceremony will take place at 10 am (18 May 2026). After almost 6 decades, the entire cabinet will take oath together along with the Chief Minister. Indian Union Muslim League has already announced its candidates. There are many capable leaders among the 63 Congress MLAs. Many capable leaders have also been kept out. He will remain out of the cabinet. There is sorrow and difficulty in it. Such decisions have been taken due to various limitations, norms and social realities.

VD Satheesan has been MLA 6 times

In the Kerala Assembly elections 2026, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) had won 102 out of 140 seats. Also the ten year long leftist rule was overthrown. After this victory, the Congress high command made 6-time MLA VD Satheesan the new Chief Minister of Kerala.

How were the Kerala Assembly elections this time?

In this election, the UDF alliance got 102 seats. This includes 63 seats for Congress and 22 seats for IUML. Whereas the ruling LDF got only 35 seats. The Left Democratic Front was running the state government for the last 10 years. Pinarayi Vijayan’s leftist alliance lost badly in this election. With this, the Left was no longer in power anywhere in the country. In this, CPIM got only 26 seats and CPI got only 8 seats. The BJP led NDA alliance got only 3 seats. Here, BJP’s Rajiv Chandrashekhar registered a historic victory from Nemom seat by 38 hundred votes.
