Vaidhavy Yoga: In Indian Vedic astrology, equations of many types of planets are studied while considering marriage and marital happiness. Whenever it comes to marriage, Manglik Dosh is most discussed in the society.

But in the astrological texts, there is description of another very sensitive yoga which is called Vidhyavya Yoga i.e. the yoga of loss or separation from the husband.

What is Vidhyavya Yoga according to authentic scriptures?

According to the most authentic texts of Sanatan Astrology, when in the horoscope of a woman, the house responsible for marital happiness (seventh house), the house of age and good fortune (eighth house) and the influence of extremely cruel planets on their owners, then this yoga is formed. The scriptures clearly define this situation.

Maharishi Parashar explains in his book ‘Brihat Parashar Horashastra’ in ‘Strijatakaphaladhyay’ that if in the eighth house of a girl’s horoscope, which is the place of good fortune of the woman and the age of the husband, malefic or cruel planets like Rahu, Ketu, Saturn or Mars are situated in their own low sign or enemy sign, then that situation becomes the cause of widowhood.

Similarly, it is clearly written in ‘Jatakabharanam’ written by Dhundhiraj that if the lord of the seventh house goes to the eighth house and the lord of the eighth house comes and sits in the seventh house, then due to this change in the house and absence of aspect of auspicious planets, the spouse has to face serious trouble or separation after marriage.

Acharya Vaidyanath Dixit also writes in support of this in his book ‘Jatak Parijat’ that if cruel or sinful planets are present in the seventh and eighth house and the lord of the marriage house becomes weak or afflicted in the sixth, eighth or twelfth house, then a situation of great suffering or separation is created in marital life.

Is it more dangerous than Manglik Dosh

If compared according to the rules of astrology, fully active Vidhyavya Yoga is considered more serious and worrying than Manglik Dosha. There are completely scriptural and logical reasons behind this. Manglik Dosha is formed by the presence of only one planet i.e. Mars in specific houses.

The scriptures say that if both the groom and the bride are auspicious, then this defect automatically gets eliminated i.e. avoided. Apart from this, Manglik Dosh mainly creates aggressiveness, anger and mutual ideological differences in nature, which can be handled with mutual understanding.

On the contrary, Vidhyavya Yoga is not formed by any single planet, but by the combined and extremely negative influence of many cruel planets like Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and Mars.

While the defects are written in the scriptures, the infallible rules for their dissolution and ineffectiveness are also explained in detail, hence it is ignorant to be afraid of any one formula. The first and biggest rule in this is the nectar effect of Devguru Brihaspati.

The rule of the scriptures is that if the full sight of Devguru Jupiter falls on the seventh or eighth house of the horoscope, then the Vidhyavya Yoga is completely dissolved because the sight of Jupiter is considered like ‘nectar’ in astrology which absorbs all the defects.

The second main rule is to have longevity yoga in the groom’s horoscope. If the position of the planets in the horoscope of the girl is weak, but in the horoscope of the groom, the eighth house is strong, the ascendant lord is strong and Purnayu Yoga is present, then the Vidhyavya Yoga of the girl’s horoscope becomes completely ineffective. This is the reason that since ancient times, emphasis has been laid on complete matching of both the horoscopes before marriage.

Along with this, the principle of place, time and character also applies in today’s time. In the modern era, the results of this yoga are not exactly the same as it was written hundreds of years ago.

If after a thorough astrological analysis this defect is found to be fully active, then the surefire means for its removal have been mentioned in the scriptures and Muhurat texts.

According to authentic texts like ‘Muhurta Chintamani’ and ‘Sanskar Prakash’, if there is any such serious misfortune in the horoscope of the girl, then before the main marriage, the girl is symbolically married to the golden statue of Lord Vishnu, Peepal tree or Kumbh i.e. earthen pot, due to which the negative effect of the horoscope gets transferred to that inanimate object and ends.

Along with this, according to Shiv Purana, 1.25 lakh chanting and rituals of Mahamrityunjaya Mantra are considered completely capable of averting any kind of famine, suffering and life crisis.

To increase good fortune, girls have been instructed in the scriptures to jointly worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva and observe Mangala Gauri Vrat, which brings unbroken good fortune and pacifies all the evil planets in the horoscope.
