Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Friday (August 22, 2025), Vice Presidential candidate of Congress -led coalition, Justice B.K. Accused Sudarshan Reddy of ‘support’ Naxalism and said that if he had not pronounced the decision on Salwa Judum, Maoism in the country would have ended before 2020.

Inaugurating the Manorama News Conclave organized by the Malayala Manorama Group, Shah said that the party’s possibility of victory in Kerala has decreased due to the Congress being elected a candidate for the post of Vice President.

‘Justice Reddy inspired by ideology deciding on Salwa Judum’

Shah, citing the 2011 Supreme Court verdict on Salwa Judum during the question -session under the Conclave, said, ‘Sudarshan Reddy is the same person who helped Naxalism. He ruled on Salwa Judum. If the decision on Salwa Judum had not been pronounced, the Naxalite terrorism would have ended by 2020. He is the same person who was inspired by the ideology that gave a decision on Salwa Judum.

In December 2011, Justice Reddy of the Supreme Court ruled that using tribal youth as special police officers in the fight against Maoist rebels, whether they are called ‘Koya Commandos’, called Salwa Judum or called by any other name, is illegal and unconstitutional. He had also ordered that weapons should be taken immediately from them.

Shah said that Kerala has suffered the brunt of Naxalism. The people of Kerala will definitely see that the Congress party is fielding a candidate who supported Naxalism and used a holy platform like Supreme Court. The ruling NDA has given the Governor of Maharashtra C.P. Radhakrishnan has been elected as the Vice -Presidential candidate, who is a senior BJP leader from Tamil Nadu with the background of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Asked about the bill being proposed to remove the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Ministers in the Lok Sabha for 30 days after arrest in serious criminal charges, Shah said, “There is no need to say anything more on this matter.”

He also targeted Rahul Gandhi and claimed that the Congress leader had tore an ordinance in 2013 by the Manmohan Singh -led UPA government, which was to provide relief to MPs and MLAs who were disqualified or convicted for any crime.

Shah said, ‘At that time, this ordinance was brought from Manmohan Singh to help Lalu Prasad. Rahul Gandhi had tore a copy of the ordinance approved by the cabinet in the name of morality. The same Rahul Gandhi is now seen hugging Lalu ji in Gandhi Maidan.

Amit Shah said about Bihar SIR dispute

Regarding the allegations of ‘vote theft’, the Home Minister said that after Rahul joined the Congress leadership, he looks at constitutional matters with suspicion. In the context of the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, Shah accused the Congress of creating an unnecessary controversy over this process.

He claimed that the Congress had an opportunity to raise objections at the constituency, district and state levels, but it has not filed any complaint on SIR till now. Regarding the implementation of SIR in other states, he said that this Election Commission has to decide.

Names of 22 lakh people in voter list even after death

He said, ‘The Election Commission has decided to get SIR across the country. There were names of 22 lakh people who have died in Bihar’s voter list. If there is a possibility of fake votes, should their names be removed or not? It is a matter of general knowledge.
