The recent violent protests in Ladakh shook the entire region. Ladakh Ladakh Ladakh Governor Kavinder Gupta has given a statement about this incident. He said that such a situation is very unfortunate in a peaceful and harmonious field like Ladakh. He says that behind this whole incident, a big conspiracy smell comes and the role of many outsiders in it is suspicious.

LG Gupta said that the situation suddenly deteriorated during the protest and the mob took violent form. The situation reached such an extent that some people tried to burn the vehicles of the security forces. Describing it as a serious crime, he said that the attempt to spoil the peace and harmony of Ladakh will not be tolerated at any cost.

Hand of external forces behind Ladakh performance- Kavinder Gupta

Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta also clarified that the administration is investigating the matter thoroughly. Security agencies are investigating which organizations or individuals provoked the demonstration and which external forces are behind it. LG clearly said that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances.

Administration should save people from being misled

Kavinder Gupta appealed to the people to maintain peace and ignore the rumors. He said that Ladakh has always been known for his peace, culture and brotherhood. In such a situation, the elements that spread violence and anarchy are harming the image of the area. He also appealed to local leaders and social organizations to save people from being misled and cooperate with the administration in restoration of peace.

About 90 people injured in violent incidents so far

LG said that about 90 people have been injured in violent incidents so far. 19 of these are still undergoing treatment. He said that many people have suffered minor injuries while some have been admitted due to serious injuries. Gupta expressed confidence that the situation of all the injured will soon become normal and they will be discharged from the hospital. The administration has taken strict steps to maintain peace. Section 163 has been implemented in Ladakh and instructions have also been directed to close the precautionary school-colleges. LG said that these steps were necessary to protect people and maintain law and order.

Police and central forces patrol fast in the area

The administration is also cautious about the damage in the demonstration. Police and central forces have intensified patrolling in the area so that the situation can be controlled. The administration says that the situation is currently under control and the safety of common people is the top priority.

LG of Ladakh assured that the peace of the area would not be allowed to be affected in any way. He said that strict action will be taken against the conspiracy and those who spread violence.

Amid violence during the protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, Islamic religious leader Maulana Shafiq said on Sunday (April 13, 2025) that attacking people in the name of protest is against the principles of Islam and should be condemned.

In Kolkata, Imam Shafiq of Nakhoda Mosque, more than 100 years old, also claimed that most of the people of other religions are against the new Act. He said, “Those who have attacked innocent people cannot be a part of any democratic opposition against the Waqf (Amendment) Act. What they did is against the principles of Islam.”

‘Right to accept everyone as their religion’

Addressing reporters, Shafiq said, “Everyone has the right to obey their religion.” Shafiq alleged that some vested selfish elements who want to divide the people of West Bengal and want to spread unrest for political gains have hatched this conspiracy.

He urged members of every community not to be influenced by their (anti -social) tricks. Senior Maulvi, who came with the Imams of several mosques of the city, said that he is waiting for the proposed meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on 16 April. The Chief Minister is going to hold a meeting with religious leaders of the Muslim community regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act on that day (16 April).

Shafiq said, “(in that meeting) Bengal will show the way to fight against the law peacefully and democratically with the participation of various communities. Bengal will maintain the tradition of maintaining harmony among different communities that have been identifying us for centuries.”

Three people have died in the Murshidabad violence and the police have arrested more than 150 people. On the order of the Calcutta High Court, central forces have been deployed in violent areas. According to police officials, the situation in Murshidabad is currently normal.

Airport shutdown and impact on flights
The Tribhuvan International Airport had to temporarily shut down due to violence in Kathmandu. Several flights were diverted to India, including Bangkok to Air Asia, Dhaka to Bangladesh Airlines, Dubai from Dubai and Seoul to Korean Air. Apart from this, flights of Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai and Batik Air have also been stopped.

Why did the demand for monarchy arise?
In 2008, Nepal ended the monarchy and established a secular, federal, democratic republic. However, recently the demand for restoration of monarchy is increasing rapidly. The main reason for this is political corruption, economic instability, and increasing resentment towards repeated changes of governments.
