Bright light flashed in front of the eyes, vision lost

KayLynne was sitting in the kitchen doing makeup for the date. Then suddenly a bright light flashed in front of his right eye and he lost his vision. He could not see anything for about 15 minutes. After some time his vision came back, so he ignored it considering it to be a strange but minor incident.

The body became numb and the tongue faltered.

Some time after losing her vision, KayLynne started feeling a tingling sensation in the right side of her body, which gradually turned into numbness. The scariest moment came when she could not even speak properly. Instead of words, strange sounds were coming out of his mouth. Seeing this her husband got scared and without any delay took her to the hospital.

Shocking truth revealed in the hospital

As soon as he reached the hospital, the doctors did a CT scan. Even the doctors were shocked after seeing the report. KayLynne had had a stroke. When doctors asked him about his neck pain, he told that he had cracked his neck while returning from Walmart. After this, the doctors clarified that due to cracking of the neck, a vein in his neck had burst, which is called artery dissection. Due to this, a blood clot formed and it reached the brain, causing a stroke.

Luck was good, major surgery postponed

According to doctors, KayLynne was lucky that the blood clot dissolved quickly. For this reason he did not need surgery. His life was saved because he got timely treatment. Now she is slowly moving towards recovery.

People are shocked on social media after this incident came to light. Many users are writing that they too crack their neck every day and never think about the danger. Doctors are also warning that jerking the neck or repeatedly cracking it can prove fatal.

How does the virus spread?

This virus can spread through saliva, nasal breath, ulcers water and even stool. Children often share toys and surfaces, causing the infection to move from one to another. Dr. Mohan Bairwa explains that “This virus can spread to others before the symptoms of infection are seen. Some children can spread the virus without showing symptoms.”

Who is more in danger?

• Children younger than 5 years are the most affected, as their immunity does not develop completely.
• However, older children, adolescents and adults with weak immunity can also be infected.

Treatment and precautions

No special medicine or vaccine is available for HFMD right now. It is a viral disease, so antibiotics are not affected. Treatment is based mainly on reducing symptoms and relaxing the patient, such as-

• Paracetamol or ibuprofen can be given with doctor’s advice for fever and pain.
• The child should be given enough fluids so that there is no dehydration.
• To reduce throat pain, use lukewarm water or use a spray.
• Avoid spicy, citrus and hot drinks.

This is a threat to viral children spreading rapidly in Delhi-NCR, but even the big immunity people are not able to escape from it. In such a situation, schools, families and society need to be vigilant. Cleanliness, hand washing habit and isolating infected children is currently the biggest defense.
