You don’t want to stick to the same style all the time. You don’t want to do the same thing. But the kind of script I am reading now is a little different from the earlier scripts. So yes, the success of Homebound has given me a lot. It has given me a very good situation. This has brought me success in my career. It has given me a name. He has given me good offers. And Homebound will always be a memorable film in my life.”

No regrets about cutting any scene
He was asked whether there were any scenes of his in the film which could not be included in the final cut, and whether he regrets it? He said, “I don’t regret any scene. Many of the scenes we shot were cut. Because the film has to have a fixed duration, I don’t have any regrets. But there were some scenes with Jhanvi, which were very beautiful. There was a scene with my mother, it was a very emotional scene. That could not be included in the film. And I also had many more scenes with Ishaan which were not included in the final cut. However, I have no regrets because at the end of the day, we are giving the film its due.”

Vishal said, ‘Our worst phase was when we lived in a chawl house in Malad and my parents had incurred a lot of debt. To repay that debt, we had to sell our house and even after that we were able to repay only 20 percent of the debt.’

The actor said that we had shifted from Malad to a rented house on Mira Road. My father used to work on the machine, but that too had to be stopped due to the noise in the building. My father has also sold coconut water and made packets of horn-gram for the beer bar.

Vishal said that he himself used to help his father in making packets of horn-gram for beer bar. He was very young at that time. Vishal said that he does not like talking about the days of struggle because no one should feel that he is cashing in on those days. But we have seen very bad times.
