A big controversy has come to light from Jaipur, Rajasthan regarding the voter list update process. A video from Raghunathpuri ward number 33 of Jhotwara area is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which some youths from the Muslim community are seen arguing with a female BLO (Booth Level Officer).

The youth allege that the BLO did not visit their homes to give the forms and an attempt is being made to deliberately remove the names of their families from the voter list.

Asif Maqbool of Raghunathpuri Jhotwara Ward No. 33 in Jaipur asked BLO Mithilesh Savita:

“Why were my and my family’s names removed from the voter list?”

BLO said, “I will strike off the name of anyone who does not come to me to collect the form.”

By the way, BLO has to go door to door and give forms.

To take away the right to vote… pic.twitter.com/F1mAXYcZoH

What is the whole matter?

In the video, two youths Asif and Maqbool were seen asking questions to female BLO Savita Mithilesh. They allege that the BLO has not come to their house to give the form. Besides, marking has been done against his and many other families’ names in the voter list. This could be a conspiracy to erase the name of the entire community on some signal.

The youth say that the BLO sits at a certain place in the area and expects people to come themselves to collect the forms. They allege that the names of those who do not turn up to collect the forms are being struck off. It came to light that in the voter list maintained by the BLO, many names of a particular community were marked.

Female BLO remained silent after questions

When the youth started asking questions, the female BLO remained silent at first. Later she only said that she had gone to give the form, but when the youth repeatedly told her that she had not come home, she could not give any clear answer. Surrounded by questions, the BLO said that she would not answer any questions and also said that she was a government employee. The youth recorded the entire incident on their mobile cameras and posted it on social media.

Congress also shared the video

The matter became more political when this video was shared on the official Congress wrote, “People’s names are being targeted and deleted, a game is being played in the name of SIR. Taking away the right to vote is an attack on the Constitution and it will not be tolerated.”

The matter escalated after the dispute

After this video surfaced, a debate has erupted in the area. It is alleged that a particular community is being targeted in the name of SIR (Special Summary Revision) in the voter list. The matter has now moved from social media to political allegations and counter-allegations. At present, this video is raising questions on the election preparations and transparency of the election process in Jaipur and action is also being demanded from the local administration.

Voting for the first phase of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 started today with great enthusiasm and peaceful atmosphere. In this phase, voters are exercising their franchise in Madhepura, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Patna, Bhojpur and Buxar districts.

The Election Commission has given priority to technology and security in the first phase of voting. 100% webcasting has been arranged at each booth, and voters can directly view their voting information through the new Voter Information Slip (VIS) and EVM Net App. For the first phase, 121 general observers, 18 police observers and 33 expenditure observers have been deployed. Special security surveillance has been maintained in rural areas, so that voting can be conducted fairly and smoothly.

According to voter data, Digha assembly constituency has the maximum number of voters registered at 4,57,657, while Barbigha has the least number of voters at 2,31,998. In terms of area, Bankipur is the smallest (16.239 square kilometer) and Suryagarha is the largest (62.247 square kilometer) assembly constituency.

The Commission has made extensive use of technology to maintain transparency in the election process. Voters can confirm their franchise through EVM Net App and VIS and get complete information about the voting process.

In the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the fate of many famous and big candidates will be decided in Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). This list includes Grand Alliance’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and Vijay Sinha. Apart from this, folk singer Maithili Thakur, Bhojpuri film star Khesari Lal Yadav, Janashakti Janata Dal’s Tej Pratap Yadav, Janata Dal (United) state president Umesh Kushwaha and Bhola Yadav will also compete for their votes in this phase.

Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Voting for the assembly elections in Bihar is going to be...

Bihar Assembly Election 2025: Voting for the assembly elections in Bihar is going to be held on 6th and 11th November. The results of the voting will be declared on November 14. Meanwhile, let us know how the Election Commission decides how many people will vote at which booth. Let us know what are the rules for this.

Limit on number of voters per booth

It is a very important job of the Election Commission to ensure that voters can cast their vote easily, safely and without any confusion. For this, a system called rationalization of polling stations is followed by the Commission. This system decides how many voters there will be at each polling center and where those centers will be located.

Let us tell you that the Election Commission usually sets a limit of 1500 voters for each polling station. This helps in avoiding crowding, reducing long queues and allowing the voting process to continue throughout the day without any hassle. However, this number may vary depending on the geographical conditions of the area. Polling stations can also be set up for very small numbers of voters in remote, forested areas, hilly or sparsely populated areas.

What are the remaining rules?

Along with this, there is also a rule that voters have to travel only two kilometers to reach their polling station. This ensures easy access to polling stations and helps in increasing the voting percentage. Under this rule, people living in remote villages, tribal areas or small settlements do not face any difficulty in exercising their franchise.

Auxiliary polling station for crowded polling stations

Whenever the number of voters in a particular area exceeds the limit of 1500, an auxiliary polling station is set up by the Election Commission. This support center is established in the same building or in the surrounding premises. These polling stations are marked by adding letters like A, B and C after the polling station number.

Selection of location of polling stations

Polling stations are usually set up in government buildings such as schools or community halls. This is because these are public places and it becomes very easy for voters to identify them.

decision making process

This entire process starts by analyzing the voter list of every assembly constituency. From this it can be known how many voters live in each area. After this, based on this number and distance rules, the District Election Officer prepares a list of polling stations. This list is then shared with recognized political parties. After this they give suggestions or raise objections. After reviewing all the processes the final list is sent to the Chief Electoral Officer of the state and finally to the Election Commission of India for approval.

Also read: When all types of weapons are sold in the world then why not nuclear bombs, what are the rules regarding this?

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has once again made serious allegations of alleged irregularities in the voting process and voting list regarding the Haryana Assembly elections. He claimed in the press conference on Wednesday (5 November) that there are more than 25 lakh fake voters included in the voting list of Haryana, which directly raises questions on the fairness of the elections.

Rahul Gandhi said that an example of this irregularity is a Brazilian model, who allegedly voted 22 different times in Haryana. He raised questions as to how the name of this model came in the voter list and why the name of the same woman was registered at many different booths and places. The picture of this Brazilian model was shared by Mathews Ferraro on social media, which makes the seriousness of this matter more clear.

Matheus Ferroro had clicked the photo of the model

The name of this woman as mentioned by Rahul Gandhi is not Matheus Ferroro. Matheus Ferroro is the name of the photographer who clicked this photo. This photo is available in the photographer’s profile on websites like Unsplash and Pexels.

Do you need more evidence that Haryana Elections were rigged totally? pic.twitter.com/sOPJ3G9JAM

Rahul Gandhi made these serious allegations

Rahul Gandhi said that there are a total of 2 crore voters in Haryana and out of these, about 12.5 percent were found to be fake voters. He said that the voting process was tampered by using fake photos and names, and that is why a conspiracy was hatched to convert the possible huge victory of Congress into defeat.

Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi alleged that many BJP leaders are voting in Haryana after voting in Uttar Pradesh. Giving specific examples, he said that Dalchand sits with the UP minister, is a sarpanch and his son Yashveer is also voting in Haryana. Along with this, he told that the names of the fathers of some fake voters were changed. Rahul said that he has solid evidence of this entire matter.

What did the Election Commission say?

However, Election Commission sources have responded to this allegation and said that Rahul Gandhi had earlier not raised any objection to the voter list of Haryana and till now no official complaint has been received against this list.

In the press conference, Rahul Gandhi especially appealed to the youth of the country and Gen Z voters to pay attention to this issue, as it is directly related to their future and democratic rights. He warned that it is necessary to question the democratic process and the transparency of the Election Commission and this allegation has been presented with complete evidence.

MK Stalin on SIR: Tamil Nadu’s ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Special Intensive Revision process.

The move comes after the Election Commission of India (ECI) last week issued orders for the next phase of SIR of voter lists in 12 states and union territories, which will cover a total of 51 crore voters.

Nomination work will start from November 4

The nomination process for this phase will begin from November 4 and the final voter list will be published on February 7, 2026, with January 1, 2026, as the base date. Assembly elections are to be held in the five states/union territories next year in April-May 2026. West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are included in the list of 12 states where the SIR process will run in the next three months. However, Assam, which is one of the election states, is not included in this list.

CM M.K. Stalin accused ECI of conspiracy

On Monday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin accused the Election Commission (ECI) of a conspiracy and said the SIR was a malicious attempt aimed at removing opposition voters.

Stalin said, “To stop this undemocratic step, we called an all-party meeting and passed a resolution condemning the SIR. The complete revision of the voter list by the Election Commission a few months before the elections is a deliberate strategy to remove legitimate voters.”

Big allegation made giving example of Bihar

CM Stalin alleged that a similar process was adopted in Bihar also, where lakhs of genuine voters were removed from the list. He said that the first opposition to this controversial process started from Tamil Nadu, after which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and opposition leaders of Bihar also opposed it. Stalin said, “Even after the legal case was registered, the Election Commission did not give any satisfactory answer”.

AIADMK and BJP also targeted

Stalin met AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. He also made a scathing attack on Palaniswami and said that he was playing a double game and was afraid of the Election Commission because of his links with BJP. He further said that migrant laborers from Bihar have got respect and employment in Tamil Nadu, but the Prime Minister is “doing political drama for electoral gains in Bihar.”

The controversy has started just hours after the Election Commission of India (EC) announced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in 12 states and union territories. The states where this process is to begin include opposition-ruled Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, where assembly elections are to be held next year.

Tam Lanadu was the first to raise the flag of protest. Chief Minister M.K. The Stalin-led DMK government has termed the process as a conspiracy to snatch away the voting rights of the people of the state and has decided to call an all-party meeting on the issue on November 2. DMK and its allies targeted the BJP government at the Center and said that this step is an attempt to weaken and defame democracy. He says that it will be very difficult to do this work on such a large scale during the north-east monsoon in November-December.

The party alliance said, “We are not saying that the voter list should not be revised, but it is wrong to do it in such a hurry. When assembly elections are going to be held in the state in April, then this step is not appropriate.” DMK alleged that Muslims, Dalits and women were targeted during SIR in Bihar. The statement said, “Tamil Nadu will not allow any such conspiracy to succeed. We will together oppose it.”

West Bengal and Kerala government also targeted

The ruling TMC of West Bengal and the CPI(M) government of Kerala also made sharp attacks on the Election Commission. TMC MP Derek O’Brien said, “The SIR in Bihar was just a trial, the real target is Bengal. The public will answer to the commission in a few months, which has now become completely biased.”

Senior CPI(M) leader M.A. Baby said that the Commission’s decision is one-sided and hasty. He alleged, “When the Supreme Court is hearing the validity of SIR in Bihar, taking this process forward is an insult to democratic standards.”

Congress also raised questions on the intentions of the Election Commission

Congress also raised questions on the intentions of the Election Commission. Party spokesperson Pawan Kheda said, “In Bihar, the shortcomings of the SIR had to be rectified by the intervention of even the Supreme Court. Now the same experiment is being repeated in other states. It is clear that the Election Commission is now working under the control of the BJP.”

SIR in Pan India: After successfully completing the first phase in Bihar, now the Election Commission of India is all set to start the second phase of special intensive vetting in 12 states. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has announced that the people of Bihar have shown their faith in this process. Along with this, he further said that the purpose of this process is to update and also verify the voter lists across the country. Meanwhile, before starting this process, let us know about those documents without which it is impossible to prove one’s citizenship.

what is sir

Special Intensive Revision, also known as SIR, is a major initiative of the Election Commission to clean and update the voter database of the country. Booth level officers go door-to-door to verify information related to address, age and identity of voters. The purpose of this entire initiative is to ensure that only eligible citizens remain in the voter list. Bihar was the first state to successfully complete this process and now this model will be implemented in the entire country.

Which documents will prove citizenship?

When it comes to proving citizenship, certain documents are legally recognized as per government guidelines. These include birth certificate, residence certificate, passport, National Register of Citizens document, government identity card or pension order. Let us tell you that Aadhar Card, PAN Card or Ration Card are valid only for address or government schemes, they are not considered as proof of citizenship. Along with this, Voter ID card is also not considered as the final proof of citizenship. In some cases, valid civil documents of the parents can also establish the citizenship of the child.

What should you do before SIR

Before this process, you should ensure that you have your birth certificate and residence certificate in the correct order. If these documents are not available then apply for them immediately through the local government office or online portal. It is also advisable that you double check that the details of all your documents such as name, date of birth and address are the same in all the given records.

Also read: Like India, is there SIR in Pakistan too, what documents does the Election Commission ask for there?

Preparations for Bihar assembly elections have now intensified. In this episode, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will visit Bihar on 4 and 5 October along with Dnyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. During this time, the team of the Commission will review the administrative and security arrangements in the state.

This high -level tour is taking place at a time when the Election Commission is going to release the final voter list on 30 September on the basis of special intensive revision (SIR). Opposition parties have questioned this process, alleging that millions of real voters can be deprived of it. However, the Election Commission has dismissed these allegations outright and said that the aim of SIR is to make the electoral system more transparent.

Commission team will assess the ground situation

The current term of Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on 22 November. In such a situation, new assembly elections are set to be held in the state. According to officials, the Commission team will sit with senior administrative and police officers of the state in Patna and assess the ground situation. This process is usually done before the formal announcement of the election.

Elections can be held in three to four stages

Sources say that after the visit of Bihar, it is possible to announce the election schedule by the Election Commission in a few days. Based on previous experiences, it is expected that this time also elections can be held in Bihar in three to four stages. However, this time there is also a challenge of festivals before the Commission because the electoral atmosphere will be between big festivals like Diwali and Chhath. The commission is already alert to protect voters from any inconvenience.

How many stages were held first?

The history of assembly elections in Bihar has also been witness to phased voting. In the year 2020, elections were held in three phases on October 28, 3 November and 7 November. The results were declared on 10 November. At the same time, elections were held in five phases in 2015, while in 2010, voting was held in six phases. In 2005, elections were held in three phases in February twice and in three phases in October.

Assembly elections in Bihar are near and this time the Election Commission is fully resorting to technology. A special revision of the voter list is going on in the state before the election and the final voter list is going to be released on 30 September 2025. After this, people whose name will be recorded in the voter list will be given a new, digital and advanced voter card. If you have not made your voter card yet or you are a new voter, then this time is absolutely right. You can make your voter card made by applying very easily and this time the card will not be limited to paper or plastic, but will also be found in digital form. In such a situation, let us know that if your voter card is not yet made, then in which easy way can you get it before Bihar election.

What is E-EPIC?

E-EPIC is a digital voter card that will be in a secure PDF format. It will have a special QR code which will include your information like the name of the voter, serial number, part number, date of birth, address and other basic information. You can show it in your mobile or computer and show it if needed anywhere. If you ever forget the physical voter card, then your work will also be done with E-EPIC. The purpose of making it is that for some time, it has been seen that fake voting, duplicate voter cards and misinformation cards cause great problems.
The villagers of a village are worried as soon as the voter list of Muzaffarpur...

The villagers of a village are worried as soon as the voter list of Muzaffarpur district comes in front of the voter list. The case is to add the names of Muslim voters to the houses of Hindu families at many booths of Sakra assembly constituency. According to the villagers, no Muslims live in this village, yet the names of Muslims were added to their house address. There is a lot of resentment among the villagers after the matter came to light on Monday.

Both Hindu Muslims in the same house

The situation here is that both Hindu Muslims are voters in the same house, when it was investigated, it was found that the booth number 223 in the middle school Sahdullahpur with the voter Poonam Devi of House No. 2, Ladli Khatoon, husband- Mo. Islam is named. Ravindra Kumar, Seema Devi, Nisha Devi, Khushboo are named among the same family in house number 3, but Mo in the same list. Junaid, Father- Mo. Nazir Ali is named.

In house number 4, 4 Muslim names were given among a Hindu voter. A Muslim name has been found among the Hindu family in house number 10. Many disturbances have also come to light in the booths of Katesar Panchayat Bhavan. House numbers 36, 37 and 38 have included the names of 15 Muslim voters here, while the local people say that no Muslim families live there.

Local Awadhesh Thakur says that “There are no Muslim voters in our village, but Muslim names have been added to almost every house. Umesh Thakur whose house number is 50. His family has been living in Tajpur in Samastipur for the last 20 years. The house is vacant, but 7-8 Muslim names in the voter list have come from their address.

The same Vishambhar Thakur, House 39 has 6 Hindu voters, but now 8 Muslim names were also added to them. Another voter Lakshmi Sah whose house is 56. The names of 11 Muslim voters are recorded with 7 Hindu voters. Santosh Thakur, whose house number is 51, has added 6 Muslim names among 3 Hindu voters.

What does the villagers say about the disturbance?

Villagers say that “this is not just a mistake, it has been added under the conspiracy”. People in the village are saying that all this cannot be just a mistake, this has been done in a planned manner. If someone else’s name is left in our house, then tomorrow will make someone else claim on our property. Fake voting can be done at the time of elections. Till the disturbances are not right, we will boycott voting.

The villagers allege that they had complained to BLO Santosh Baitha about this matter, but no action was taken through them. Regarding the entire matter, BLO Renu Kumari of Ward 5 and 6 said, “I do not even know how this happened. The process of filling Form-8 has been started on the orders of BDO.”
