There is great relief news for thousands of parents living in Delhi. The first merit list for nursery admission in private schools has been released for the academic session 2026-27. The moment for which parents were waiting for a long time has finally arrived. Now parents can prepare to take the next step related to the future of their children.

Like every year, this time too there was a lot of enthusiasm among the parents regarding nursery admission. A large number of parents had registered their children. Now, under the guidelines of the Directorate of Education (DoE), about 1,741 private schools of Delhi have uploaded their first merit list and waiting list on the official website of the school.

Where to see your child’s name?

Parents who had applied for nursery admission can now check their child’s name by visiting edudel.nic.in. Apart from this, merit list and waiting list are also available on the website of the respective schools.

When will I have to go to school?

According to the Directorate of Education, between January 24 and February 3, parents can visit the school to get information related to admission and complete the necessary formalities. During this time, the schools will ask for the documents of the selected children, they will be verified and after that the admission form will be given.

Large number of children selected in many schools

This time many renowned schools have selected a large number of children in the general category. Some schools have given place to more than 200 children in the merit list and have kept more than 100 children in the waiting list. Some major schools have been selected – Bal Vidya Niketan located in Pushp Vihar has selected 132 children, 100 are in waiting, St. Paul’s Pre-Primary School in Hauz Khas has selected 478 children, St. George’s School in Alaknanda has selected 155 children.

New arrangement for nursery, KG and class 1

Under the new admission structure of the Directorate of Education, nursery and KG (kindergarten) have now been included in the foundation stage. After this the children are enrolled in class 1. All private schools are running the admission process according to this rule.

What should be the age of the child?

The age-related conditions of the children have been clearly set for the academic session 2026-27, so that the physical and mental development of the children can take place properly. For nursery, it has been determined that the age of the child should be at least 3 years by 31 March 2026. After this, for admission in KG, the child should be at least 4 years of age. For admission in Class 1, children should be at least 5 years of age. All these conditions are mandatory for all private schools, to ensure that the child gets the right level of education and proper mental development. Thus, determining the age of children is a basic need, which helps in the first steps of their education life.

What is the complete process of admission?

Schools had to upload the admission criteria and marking system by November 28. The last date for application was 27th December. Parents uploaded the required documents and information on January 9 and the selection was done on criteria set by the school, such as distance from the school, siblings already studying and parents being alumni.

When will the second merit list come?

If your name has not appeared in the first list, then there is no need to panic. The second merit list will be released on 9 February. The entire admission process will be completed by March 19.

Important advice for parents

1. Keep checking the school website and edudel.nic.in regularly.

2. Keep all the necessary documents ready in advance.

3. Go to school and complete the process within the stipulated date.

Every day lakhs of people travel by train in India. Train is the most reliable and cheapest means of travel for weddings, travelling, work or meeting family. The best thing about train travel is that you can book multiple tickets at the same time with your family or friends. But it often happens that when you book tickets for 4 to 5 people, not all their tickets are confirmed. In such a situation, the question arises that if there are five people in the same family and the tickets of only three of them are confirmed, then can the remaining people travel in the train, will TTE remove them from the train and what will be the penalty? So let us know if there are 5 people in the family but only three tickets are confirmed, then how can the rest travel.

How does the ticket booking system work in Railways?

When you take tickets for 4-5 people in a single booking, a PNR number is generated for your ticket. This PNR is a record of all your ticket information. This includes who all are travelling, in which train, seat number and coach, dates of journey. In such a situation, if you booked tickets for five people. Out of these, some tickets get confirmed and some go in the waiting list, so earlier the rule was that if some tickets on the same PNR were confirmed and some were in waiting, then everyone could board the train. Waitlisted passengers may not be able to get a seat, but could travel in the train and the TTE would not deboard them. But now Railways has changed the rules.

What are the new rules for those with waiting tickets?

Now Railways has made it clear that only those passengers whose ticket is confirmed can travel in the train. Waiting list passengers cannot board sleeper or AC coaches. If your ticket status is still waiting even after charting, you cannot travel in that coach. If you board the train without a confirmed ticket, TTE can deboard you from the train and fine or legal action can also be taken.

What to do if 3 out of 5 tickets are confirmed?

If there are 5 people in your family and after ticket booking, 3 tickets are confirmed and 2 are left in waiting list, then waiting list passengers, if the ticket is converted to RAC, then you can board the train. RAC means that your seat will be shared with someone. If the ticket is still waiting after chart preparation, then you cannot board the train directly. Apart from this, you can buy general tickets by going to the station. You can book general tickets from UTS app. Boarding the train without a ticket or waiting ticket is against the rules and TTE can take action.

IRCTC and waiting ticket

If you book a ticket online and it is not confirmed, then IRCTC auto-cancels that ticket and refunds the money. This means that you do not need to cancel the ticket yourself. If a passenger in the train cancels the journey and the seat becomes vacant, then TTE can give the seat to a waiting passenger.

Also read: Old number linked to Aadhaar has been closed, this is how you can add a new mobile number.

Railway Waiting List Types: Crores of people travel by train every day in the country. Indian Railways is not only the fourth largest network in the world. Rather, it is also an important part of the everyday life of crores of passengers. Due to such a large scale of ticket booking every day, it is not possible for everyone to get a confirmed seat. This is the reason why Railways has created different waiting list categories.

So that the booking system continues to work in an easy and systematic manner. Many people go to the waiting list while booking tickets. But they do not know in which waiting list the confirmation is received quickly and in which it is not. It is important for any traveler to know this so that the journey can be planned in a better way. Let us tell you the complete details.

What are the different waiting lists of trains?

There are many types of waiting lists in Indian Railways. Which have their own different meaning. The most common among these is GNWL i.e. General Waiting List. Which is connected to the station from where the train starts. If you have booked a ticket from the originating station and the seat is full. So your name goes in this list. Apart from this, RLWL i.e. Remote Location Waiting List is for those passengers who travel from any intermediate station.

Also read: If you make these mistakes with your phone, it may explode

PQWL i.e. Pool Quota Waiting List is for specific stations. Where the quota of seats is limited. Whereas TQWL i.e. Tatkal Waiting List is made for tickets booked through Tatkal quota. And this list is confirmed last. Apart from all these, there are some other categories like RLGN. Which is decided according to the route and station of the train.

Which waiting list gets confirmed first?

Now the question arises that which of these lists gets confirmed the fastest. According to railway rules, GNWL i.e. General Waiting List tickets are confirmed first. Because in this the cancellation is directly linked to the starting seats of the train. If tickets booked from originating stations are cancelled.

Also read: Government is giving Rs 10 lakh to Rekha who lost her life in Delhi blast, know how to get compensation?

So GNWL people get priority. On the contrary, in RLWL and PQWL, tickets are confirmed only when already booked tickets on the same routes are cancelled. Whereas in TQWL the chances of confirmation are very less. Because seats in Tatkal quota are limited.
