During the winter session of Parliament, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi mentioned blue turmeric. He gave this information during his conversation with PM Modi and also told about the specialty of blue turmeric. Let us know how beneficial is blue turmeric for your health?

How beneficial is blue turmeric?

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told that she consumes blue turmeric daily. She eats it daily for protection from pollution, relief from sore throat and allergies. Let us tell you that blue turmeric grows in the soil of Wayanad and is very beneficial.

What is blue turmeric like?

It is worth noting that blue turmeric is also called black turmeric or Curcuma cassia. It is different from normal yellow turmeric. It is brown from outside and blue-violet from inside. Actually, it contains high amount of curcumin and smells like camphor. It is grown in North-Eastern India, Wayanad of Kerala and many areas of Madhya Pradesh. Being rare, it is also expensive.

What are the benefits of blue turmeric?

According to many studies done on blue turmeric, blue turmeric has high anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Camphor, ar-termerone and other essential oils are found in it. It increases immunity, reduces inflammation and prevents many diseases. Also, in this era of pollution, it strengthens the lungs and throat.

Does blue turmeric also cure cancer?

According to Dr. Abhishek Shankar, Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology, New Delhi AIIMS, blue turmeric contains a lot of curcumin, due to which it has anti-cancer properties. Lab studies have revealed that it helps in stopping the growth of cancer cells. However, it should not replace medicine and it is important to consult a doctor. According to Dr. Rashmi Sharma, Ayurveda Specialist at Patanjali Ayurveda Hospital, Haridwar, blue turmeric is very beneficial in joint pain and arthritis. It reduces swelling and provides relief from pain. Taking it daily with a small amount of milk or water provides relief to arthritis patients.

How to use blue turmeric?

Take 1/2 to 1 teaspoon turmeric powder mixed with milk or water daily.

You can drink it by adding it to tea.

Make a paste and apply it on the joints.

Mix in salad or vegetable.
