How to Prevent Artery Blockage: Just as cleaning the house is a part of our daily health, it is equally important to take care of the health of the arteries, but often people ignore it. Clean and healthy arteries keep blood flow smooth in the body and reduce the risk of serious diseases like heart attack and stroke. Just as the brain controls the entire body, similarly the arteries work to deliver oxygen-rich blood to every part of the body.

Dr. Sumit Kapadia, a vascular surgeon with more than 18 years of experience, told TOI that arteries can be kept healthy by making some small but correct changes in lifestyle. He has given three natural and effective ways to protect heart health and keep the arteries clean.

What happens when arteries become clogged?

When fat starts accumulating in the arteries, it is called plaque. It contains elements like cholesterol, fat and calcium. In medical language this process is called atherosclerosis. Due to this, the arteries start narrowing, due to which the flow of blood and oxygen reduces. Chest pain may start and the heart has to work harder to pump blood.

Increase Vitamin K2 Intake

According to Dr. Kapadia, Vitamin K2 is very important to keep the arteries healthy. This vitamin activates proteins in the body that prevent calcium from getting deposited in the wrong places. If there is a deficiency of Vitamin K2, then calcium starts accumulating on the walls of the arteries, due to which they become hard. Vitamin K2 is found in dairy products, egg yolks, fermented foods like natto and sauerkraut, and some. Research shows that people whose diet contains adequate amount of Vitamin K2 are less likely to have heart related problems.

Reduce Refined Carbohydrates

Another important step is to reduce the intake of refined carbs. White bread, sugary snacks, soft drinks and processed foods may seem low in fat, but they increase inflammation and oxidative stress in blood vessels. The third and very important way is regular exercise. Doing at least 30 minutes of walking, cycling, swimming or strength training every day improves blood circulation and strengthens the heart. Exercise keeps blood pressure under control, weight remains balanced and chances of plaque accumulation are reduced.

Rising Heart Attack Trends: Heart related diseases are increasing rapidly in India. High blood pressure, cholesterol and stressful lifestyle have made people’s heart health the biggest threat. Experts say that if people still do not pay attention to their diet and lifestyle, then the cases of heart attacks may increase further in the coming years. It is important to recognize body signals in time and get regular checkups done so that this silent danger can be avoided.

Why are heart attack cases increasing in India?

Heart disease has become the biggest cause of death in India. Between 2014 and 2019, there has been an increase of about 50 percent in heart attack cases in the country. Urbanization, changing lifestyle, poor diet, stress, smoking and diseases like diabetes are the main reasons for this. Experts believe that this problem is not limited to health only, but it is also affecting the country’s economy, stability of families and working life.

Why does heart attack happen?

Heart attack occurs when blood flow in the blood arteries leading to the heart stops due to a clot or blockage. Due to this, oxygen does not reach the heart muscles and within some time the cells start dying. If timely treatment is not received, it can prove fatal. According to T. Suman Kumar, cardiologist at Srimatha Heart Clinic, Vijayawada, “Most heart attacks, strokes and heart failure do not occur suddenly, but their risk factors are already present in our body, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and smoking.”

Four big dangers hidden in the body

According to doctors, most people do not have their first heart attack suddenly, but there are some silent risk factors hidden behind it, such as:

high blood pressure – Prolonged increased blood pressure damages the walls of the arteries.

cholesterol – Increased LDL cholesterol in the blood forms fatty deposits in the arteries, which obstructs blood flow.

blood sugar or diabetes– Increased sugar weakens the blood cells and increases the risk of heart disease manifold.

smoking – Tobacco damages both the heart and arteries.

All these factors affect gradually, but symptoms appear when the danger has increased. Therefore regular checkup is necessary.

How to reduce the risk of heart attack?

The good thing is that most of these risks can be controlled. The risk of heart attack can be reduced significantly by eating right, regular exercise and medical checkup. For this, you need to make some improvements in your diet, such as including fruits, green vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats in it. Apart from this, do exercise, in which walk or yoga for at least 30 minutes daily. Quit smoking as far as possible. Stopping tobacco consumption immediately reduces the risk of heart disease. Most strokes and heart attacks occur because people do not monitor their health. If timely diagnosis is made, doctors can start treatment at an early stage. Especially people above 30 years of age or those with a family history of heart disease should get themselves checked regularly.

Symptoms of Heart Attack: Heart attack cases have increased rapidly in the last few years. Many such videos are seen on social media and media, in which a person is sitting, eating, playing, dancing and suddenly gets a heart attack. Many times a person dies due to not getting timely treatment. In such a situation, the question comes in our mind that does heart attack come suddenly? Doesn’t our body give any warning about this in advance? If you also have such questions in your mind, then let us tell you what signs appear in our body before a heart attack, which if we understand, can save life.

What signals does the body give in advance?

According to the American Heart Association, the body may show several warning signs hours or days before a heart attack. These include chest discomfort, pain spreading to other parts of the body, difficulty in breathing and sudden sweating. Mayo Clinic reports that the most common sign of a heart attack is pressure or heaviness in the chest. This pain can sometimes spread to the left arm, back, neck, jaw or even teeth. Apart from this, sudden cold sweat, nausea and dizziness are also warning signs. Apart from this, it has been said in many other reports that many patients feel abnormal fatigue before heart attack. Especially women often complain of excessive weakness and fatigue without any particular reason. If we talk about normal symptoms, they include pain or heaviness in the chest, cold sweat and nausea, dizziness, spreading pain and weakness, difficulty in breathing and unusual fatigue.

Why do heart attacks occur?

Now we come to the question why heart attack occurs. The simple answer is that a heart attack occurs when the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle stop due to blockage. Blockage is usually caused by cholesterol layers, fatty deposits and clots. Due to stoppage of blood flow, the heart does not get oxygen and heart attack occurs. If we talk about prevention, then to prevent this, a healthy lifestyle should be adopted, for this health checkup should be done on a routine basis. Apart from this you should quit smoking and alcohol. Due to these, heart attack is triggered the most.

Heart Attack Causes: In the last few years, cases of heart attack and stroke have increased rapidly. Busy life and changing lifestyle have contributed a lot in increasing it. Heart attacks and strokes often seem to happen suddenly, but the reasons behind them are already present. Recently, a study conducted on more than 90 lakh people of America and South Korea revealed surprising results. Research found that almost 99 percent of heart attacks and strokes were related to only four main risk factors. Let us tell you what has come out in the research.

Four major causes of heart attack and stroke

There are many reasons for heart attack and stroke, but the four most common reasons found in the study are-

high blood pressure

high cholesterol

increased blood sugar

Smoking (if you were smoking before or are currently smoking)

That is, if these factors are present in a person then his risk of heart disease increases manifold. Even in women below 60 years of age, more than 95 percent of the cases were found to be due to these reasons.

Most dangerous high blood pressure

Among the four factors found during the research to cause heart attack, blood pressure turned out to be the biggest risk. In both America and South Korea, more than 93 percent of patients had high blood pressure before heart attack or stroke. Experts believe that controlling blood pressure in time is the most important key to prevent serious heart disease. According to Philip Greenland, a cardiologist at Northwestern University, “This study makes it clear that if one or more of these factors are present in someone, then serious heart problems are almost certain in the future. The real focus should be on controlling these reasons.”

The truth about heart attack without any reason

It is often said that heart attacks and strokes are increasing even without any risk factors. But researchers claim that this is not completely correct. He says that in previous studies, diagnosis was often missed or low-level risk factors were not taken into account.

doctors warning

Neha Pagidipati, a cardiologist at Duke University, wrote in the editorial, “We have to do better. It is very important to manage the risk factors in the beginning, instead of waiting for major diseases.” What has emerged from this entire research is that heart attacks and strokes do not happen suddenly. The biggest role behind this is blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and smoking. The good thing is that all these four factors can be controlled. The risk of heart disease can be reduced to a great extent by proper diet, exercise, routine checkups and staying away from smoking.

Heart Attack Symptoms: In the last few months, you must have continuously heard or read that people are having heart attacks. People are falling and dying at weddings while dancing, eating or drinking. After Corona, cases of heart attack have increased rapidly. Imagine that you are alone at home and you get a heart attack, what will you do. Because there will be no one to help you at that time. If you are nervous thinking this, then don’t panic. Let us today tell you some expert solutions, in which if you are alone at home and have a problem like heart attack, then how can you prevent it.

When does heart attack occur?

Heart attack may seem to you that it comes suddenly, but the truth is that it does not happen suddenly. This happens when cholesterol and fat accumulate in our arteries. Due to which plaque is formed, this plaque not only creates problem in blood flow but also damages the heart muscles. Doctors say that most heart attacks occur when people are alone, which makes it even more dangerous and fatal.

What to do if you have a heart attack?

Experts say that you have to be aware about this, so that you can save your life. Some symptoms of a heart attack include severe or pressing pain in the chest, pain spreading to the arms (especially the left arm), neck, jaw and back, difficulty in breathing, severe fatigue, nausea and vomiting and excessive sweating. If you notice any such problem, according to the doctor, such cases should not be taken lightly. Additionally, symptoms may be different in women, such as severe pain in the neck, arms or back. Many times a heart attack does not happen suddenly. Many people may see warning signs hours, days or weeks in advance. Persistent chest pain or pressure that does not go away even with rest can be an early sign of a heart attack.

What to do in case of a heart attack?

Experts say that if you are alone and have a heart attack, then first of all call the emergency service immediately. Explain the situation to the operator and follow their advice. The second most important thing is that as soon as you feel the symptoms of a heart attack, chew and swallow an aspirin tablet. According to doctors, it prevents heart attack cases from becoming serious. If you feel that you are experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, then immediately sit in a position that is comfortable for you. Until the ambulance or doctor arrives, call a friend, family member or neighbor immediately so they can help.

Cases of heart attack are increasing very fast in India. If we look at the data of the Indian Heart Association, then every year about 2 million people in India are hit by heart disease, most of which are of heart attack. This disease, which is seen in the first aged people, has now started making 15 to 20 year old youth as their victims. The main reason for this is unhealthy food, tension and random lifestyle. It is worth noting that our body gives many signals before heart attack. If these signals are identified on time, then life can be saved. Let us tell you what things can be saved before a heart attack.

How are the initial symptoms of heart attack?

According to doctors, a heart attack does not suddenly come. Many times its symptoms start appearing a few weeks in advance. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Heart Association (AHA), the most common symptom of heart attack is pressure, heaviness, squeezing pain or irritation. This pain lasts for a few minutes and occurs many times again and again. People usually ignore it. Apart from this, breathless without hard work can be a sign of lack of oxygen in the heart. If there is a sudden pain in your left arm, shoulder, neck, jaw or stomach and back, then it can be a sign of heart attack. Repeated sleeping at night to feeling vomiting can also be a sign of heart attack. Apart from this, when the heart is not able to pump the blood properly, then there may be swelling in the legs or legs.

These methods can save life

The initial 60 minutes of heart attack are called Golden Hour. If the patient gets treatment during this time, the chances of saving their lives increase by 90 percent. The first and necessary step for this is to call the emergency number. If you are alone, immediately inform the neighbor or an acquaintance, because every second is precious at such a time. In such a situation, the car should not run itself, because the problem may increase in the way.

Aspirin can help

If you are feeling symptoms of heart attack, then you can take 300 mg tablet of aspirin. It has to be kept in mind that you should not be allergic to it and this medicine should not be used without the advice of a doctor. Aspirin dilutes the blood and can prevent blood clots from forming, which is the main cause of heart attack. According to the American Heart Association, Aspirin can reduce heart loss by 20-30 percent.

This medicine can also provide relief

If you are a heart patient, then you can take the medicine mentioned by the doctor. It should be used according to the advice of the doctor. This drug can increase blood flow to the heart by widening the blood vessels and reduces chest pain. However, this medicine should not be consumed without consulting a doctor.

CPR can also save life

If symptoms of heart attack are seen, then sit immediately or lie down. During this time try to take a deep breath and do not take tension at all. If a person has fainted after a heart attack and is unable to breathe, then immediately start CPR (Cardiopulmonary Rescue). If the patient is not aware of giving CPR to the person present, then give the patient to the patient. For this, press rapidly in the middle of the chest. This speed should be from 100 to 120 times per minute. This helps in making blood flows.
