In today&#8217;s fast-paced lifestyle, our mind is always occupied with something or the other and social media makes the biggest contribution in this. Dr. Jyotsna Bakshi, Senior Fellow and Psychologist, DIPAS, New Delhi, explained why we should allow ourselves to be bored sometimes and what positive effects it can have on the brain. According to Dr. Joshi, being constantly on smartphones and social media is harming our mental health, it increases stress, distracts attention, reduces creativity and gradually people also become victims of addiction. </p>

Being a little bored increases neuroplasticity in the brain, which is especially important in children and adolescents. So even if you have five minutes, put the phone away and go the old-fashioned way, draw something, write, fantasize or just sit comfortably with music.</p>
