The monsoon is wreaking havoc at this time from the mountainous areas of North India to the plains. Flood -like situation has been created in many districts of Delhi, UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The water level of the Yamuna river in Delhi has crossed the danger mark, while the cloudburst in Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand has intensified rescue operations. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning saying that heavy rains will continue in many states for the next few days. In Uttarakhand, the red alert is declared in Uttarakhand till August 12, which can make the situation more serious.

There is a possibility of cloudy and light rain or drizzle in the capital Delhi on Friday (8 August 2025). The weather will be pleasant due to the fall in temperature, but intermittent rain in NCR’s Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad can affect people’s movement. Although the risk of floods is not directly here, the increased water level of Yamuna can cause water filling in the low -lying areas.

Fear of heavy rain and strong winds in Uttar Pradesh
Many districts of Uttar Pradesh have alert of moderate to heavy rain today. Dozens of districts including Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Ramnagar, Badaun, Kanpur Dehat, Banda, Prayagraj and Sonbhadra can blow winds at a speed of 30–40 km/h. In these areas, farmers and general public have been advised to take precautions, because continuous rains can damage crops and infrastructure.

Lightning and flood threat in Bihar
There is alert of heavy rains in western and northern districts of Bihar. Districts like West Champaran, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga, Supaul and Kishanganj are also in danger of not only rain but also sky lightning. In the flood -affected areas, the administration has intensified relief and rescue operations, while people are being appealed to stay safe in homes.

Red alert and school closed in Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand is currently facing the most serious situation. The red alert continues in Pauri Garhwal, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Bageshwar and Nainital with a warning of heavy to very heavy rain. Many roads have been closed due to cloudburst incidents and landslides. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took stock of the situation with NDRF and SDRF teams and directed to speed up the rescue operation.

Relief and light rain in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
There is a possibility of rain relief in most districts in Rajasthan, but there may be moderate to heavy rains in Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur and Kota today. The speed of rain in Madhya Pradesh is slow. Sagar, Vidisha, Indore and Khargone have a lightning alert with light rain.
