The monsoon which people were waiting for across the country has finally reached Kerala. However, this time many speculations were being made regarding the arrival of monsoon. Usually, monsoon reaches Kerala by June 1, whereas this time the Meteorological Department had predicted its arrival only on May 26. But the monsoon neither arrived before the scheduled time nor on June 1. Finally, on June 4, the south-west monsoon hit Kerala, after which heavy rains started in many areas of South India including Kerala.

According to the Meteorological Department, now the monsoon is progressing rapidly and by June 5, it has reached some parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Goa. In the coming days, it will move further and reach the states of North India. The Meteorological Department has said that during the next seven days, there may be heavy to very heavy rain at many places in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Goa. At the same time, an alert of heavy rain has also been issued in the states of North-East India. In the next two to three days, monsoon may reach central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, south-west Bay of Bengal, west-central and east-central Bay of Bengal and many parts of Northeast India.

When will it rain in North East?

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of widespread rain in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya between June 5 and 11. At the same time, good rain can also be seen in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from June 6 to 11. During June 5 to 7, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds are expected in Assam and Meghalaya. Apart from this, rain may continue in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from June 5 to 8.

When will it rain in South India?

Talking about South India, there is a possibility of rain at many places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during June 5 to 11. There may be rain in North Interior Karnataka between June 6 to 11 and in South Interior Karnataka between June 5 and June 8 to 11.

Fear of lightning in many southern states

Apart from this, during June 5 to 11, good rain is expected at many places in Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep and Telangana. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal may also receive heavy rains between June 5 to 7 and June 8 to 11. Heavy rain has been predicted in Kerala and Mahe from June 6 to 7 and June 10 to 11. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Lakshadweep from 5 to 7 June and in many parts of Karnataka from 5 to 11 June. The Meteorological Department has also said that thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds may occur in many areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Karnataka.

Weather is going to change in North India

The weather is going to change in North India also. There may be rain in Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh during June 5 and 6. Heavy rain is also expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on June 5. Apart from this, there may be rain in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab from June 5 to June 7 and June 11. There is a possibility of rain in Western Uttar Pradesh from June 5 to 6 and June 11, while in Eastern Uttar Pradesh from June 5 to 6 and June 10 to 11. The weather is going to change in Rajasthan also. It is expected to rain in Western Rajasthan from June 5 to 7 and in Eastern Rajasthan from June 5 to 11. Whereas in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, rain may continue from June 6 to 11. Alert of storm, lightning and strong winds has also been issued in many areas.

When will monsoon reach UP and Delhi?

According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will now gradually move towards North India. Monsoon usually reaches Maharashtra around June 10. It is likely to reach most parts of Madhya Pradesh by June 15, while in some areas it may reach by June 20. Monsoon usually reaches Gujarat between 20th and 25th June. Monsoon is expected to reach Uttar Pradesh between June 20 and 25. At the same time, the possibility of monsoon arriving in Bihar by June 15 has been expressed. The probable date of arrival of monsoon in the national capital Delhi has been said to be 25th June.

Winter has once again returned in Delhi-NCR. Due to the melting of snow on the mountains and the effect of western disturbance, cold winds have started blowing in the plains of North India. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave may persist with dense fog in Delhi on Wednesday (4 February 2026). Cold will be felt more in the morning and late night.

The Meteorological Department has said that the effect of cold wave will be seen in entire North India including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Bihar. There is a possibility of low visibility due to fog in many areas, due to which road and rail traffic may be affected.

Chances of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir

A slight increase in day and night temperatures was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The minimum temperature in Srinagar was 2.8 degrees Celsius, while the mercury dropped to minus 5.3 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg ski resort. According to the Meteorological Department, a weak western disturbance is active at this time, due to which many areas may remain cloudy. There is a possibility of snowfall along with rain in high altitude areas.

Rain alert in Haryana and Punjab

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of light to moderate rain with cloudy sky and strong winds in most parts of Haryana and Punjab. There has been rain and hailstorm in many districts of Punjab during the last 36 hours, due to which the cold has increased further. There is a possibility of rain in Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar and Mohali in the next few hours. The minimum temperature here can be 5 to 6 degrees and the maximum can be around 22 degrees Celsius.

Fog wreaks havoc in UP and Bihar

Rain and hailstorm alert has been issued in about 25 districts of Uttar Pradesh including Agra and Moradabad divisions. There may be light drizzle along with thunder and lightning in Central UP. At the same time, the effect of winter continues in Bihar and there is dense fog in many districts. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert in view of cold and fog.
