Today (September 19) in Delhi, the sky will be partly cloudy. The Meteorological Department has kept the city in the green zone, that is, there is no rain alert at the moment. However, there is a possibility of light showers in some places.

According to the Meteorological Department, light superficial winds may occur in the city in the morning. Talking about the temperature, today Delhi’s minimum temperature will be between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is likely to be around 33 to 34 degrees. The weather will be very pleasant.

Yesterday’s temperature was less than normal

On Thursday (September 18), Delhi’s maximum temperature was recorded at 33.8 degrees Celsius, which was about 0.6 degrees below normal. At the same time, the minimum temperature was recorded at 25.2 degrees Celsius. Many areas of the city also received light rain during the day, due to which the weather felt a little cold and happy.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that the relative humidity level in Delhi was recorded at 81 percent at 5:30 pm on Thursday. It is clear from this high humidity level that the moisture content in the atmosphere was quite high, due to which the weather felt light humid and viscosity.

Slight improvement in Delhi’s air

Talking about the quality of air in Delhi, the air quality index (AQI) was 107 at 6 pm on Thursday (September 18), which falls in the ‘medium’ category. This will give some relief to patients suffering from respiratory disease.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI is considered to be ‘good’ between 0 and 50, ‘satisfactory’ between 51 and 100, ‘medium’ between 101 and 200, ‘bad’ between 201 and 300, ‘bad’ between 301 and 400 is considered ‘very bad’ and ‘severe’ between 401 and 4000. This means that pollution in air is not very dangerous for the common people, but people with respiratory problems should take some care.

Delhi weather news: The month of April this year in Delhi was the hottest and polluted in the last 3 years. According to reports from India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), both heat and pollution reached record level this time in the country’s capital. Experts believe that there is a huge reason for rainfall and western dry winds.

According to the IMD, the average maximum temperature of Delhi in this April was 39 degrees Celsius, which is 2.5 degrees above normal. This was the hottest month of April 2022, when the average maximum temperature was recorded at 40.4 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature was also 21.8 degrees on average, which is 0.5 degrees above normal.

How much it rained throughout the month?

Meteorological Department officials said that this time due to lack of Western disturbance and lack of rain, the heat in most parts of northwest India was higher than normal. Especially from 7 to 9 April, hot and dry winds in Delhi-NCR created situations like heat. There was only 0.7 mm of rainfall during the entire month, while the normal average is 16.3 mm. In April 2023, 19.4 mm in April and 7.5 mm in 2024 was recorded.

Mahesh Palawat, the meteorological expert and vice -president of Skymet, said that this time the dry and dusty weather not only proved to increase the temperature, but it also severely affected air pollution. He hoped that light rain may occur in early May, but after that the heat may show its effect again.

Talking about the level of pollution, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) was 211 in this April, which is the highest since 2022. This figure keeps air quality in a ‘poor’ category and can adversely affect health.

‘Yellow Alert’ released for 1 and 2 May
On Tuesday (April 29), the maximum temperature of the capital was 37.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 24.5 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of a similar weather today (30 April). At the same time, ‘Yellow Alert’ has been released in view of the possibility of strong winds and rain between Thursday to Saturday (May 1 to May 2).
