West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee targeted the Center on Thursday (September 4, 2025) on the recent order under the Foreign Citizen Act, in which members of minority communities of neighboring countries have been allowed to stay in India without valid documents. He called it an election tactic.

During a discussion in the West Bengal Assembly on a government resolution to condemn the alleged atrocities on Bengali migrants, CM Mamata Banerjee claimed that the Center’s move is aimed at misleading the public before the upcoming elections. He accused the BJP of using such a strategy to polarize voters.

Discussion was not held in Parliament, BJP took unilateral decision- Mamta

West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee said, ‘This is nothing but electoral tactics, but this time it will not work. There has been no discussion in Parliament on this new rule. How can the BJP take a unilateral decision on such matters? There is no discussion, debate or parliamentary committees to discuss or discuss such important issues? ‘

Referring to the implication of the order of the Center, Banerjee questioned whether those living without documents will be given the right to vote? He asked, ‘They (government) are saying that people who come without documents will be allowed to live. So will they be allowed to vote in elections? Will they get Aadhaar and ration cards? ‘

Banerjee said, ‘Will you provide ration, citizenship and constitutional rights to those who come till 2024? The BJP will have to clarify this because nothing is mentioned in these relevant issues in the new order. He questioned that the BJP had made such false promises before the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but how many people were really given citizenships?

Caa Under the government will give citizenship of India without papers

According to the Union Home Ministry, members of minority communities- Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians, who came to India by December 31, 2024, will be allowed to stay in the country without passports or other travel documents to avoid religious oppression from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

According to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), which came into force last year, Indian citizenship will be provided to the members of these oppressed minorities who came to India on or before 31 December 2014.

We will not let anyone take away the rights of citizens- Mamta

Banerjee expressed his strong opposition to the process of arbitrary and unilateral decisions of the Center on sensitive issues like immigration and citizenship. He said, ‘We will not let anyone snatch the rights of citizens. We follow the ideals of Ramakrishna (Paramahamsa), Netaji (Subhash Chandra Bose) and Rabindranath (Tagore). They have shown us the way and we will not wander even a step from him.

Mamta Banerjee spoke on the change in the GST system of the Center

In another issue raised during his speech, Banerjee said, “The decision to cut tax rates on a wide range of items commonly used by the GST Council recently, including personal health and life insurance, corn flex and television, is the result of his repeated protests for the past several years.”

Recalling his previous demands raised in the meetings of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, he said, ‘I had demanded that insurance be exempted from GST. He was forced to do so. You imposed anti-public decisions, increased the tax burden and then made agreements with three-four countries. But we remained adamant on our attitude.

His remarks came a day after the announcement by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that the GST Council has approved extensive changes in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. He also accused the Center of financial discrimination against West Bengal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal on Friday (August 22, 2025). Addressing the public meeting here, PM Modi targeted Trinamool Congress (TMC) and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. PM Modi said in his address that in the last 11 years, the BJP government at the Center has given all kinds of help for the development of West Bengal. Our Government of India has given more than 3 times the money to Bengal for the construction of the National Highway in Bengal by the UPA coalition government in its 10 years.

PM Modi said, “The budget of Bengal for Railways has also been increased three times as compared to earlier. But, there is a big challenge before the development works in Bengal. The challenge is that most of the money we send to the state government for Bengal is looted here. That money is spent on TMC cadre. Therefore, in many schemes of poor welfare, Bengal is lagged from other states of the country.

PM Modi reached Kolkata before Durga Puja

PM Modi said, “I have come to Kolkata at a time when the preparations for Durga Puja have started here. Kolkata is decorating with a new color, new glory. When the festival of development is also associated with the festival of faith and joy, happiness doubles. I have got the opportunity to lay the foundation of the big projects related to Kolkata Metro and Highway.”

He said, “West Bengal is one of the largest states in the country in terms of population. So until the strength of West Bengal increases, the journey of developed India will not be successful. Because BJP believes, BJP’s reverence is- ‘When Bengal rises, only then will the developed India become.’ In order to benefit all the schemes in Bengal too, it is necessary that the BJP government should also go here, the BJP will come. ”

BJP has a plan for the development of Bengal- PM

PM Modi said, “BJP has a concrete plan for the development of West Bengal, a roadmap, but TMC is an enemy of development. Its witness is also Dum Dum Kshetra, it is one of the most crowded areas of Kolkata. Smart City Mission is going on for the development of such urban areas of the country. But the TMC government also refused to join this mission. The mission of the BJP is to stop the BJP’s plans.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (July 10), while attacking the BJP, alleged that she was targeting Bengali migrant workers in Jai Hind Colony in Delhi and spreading its anti -Bengali agenda outside the state borders.

In a strict post written on social media platform Facebook, Mamata Banerjee said that she is very upset with the news of harassment and forced eviction of Bengali residents in Vasant Kunj area of the national capital.

CM Mamta Banerjee accused BJP government

Trinamool Congress President and West Bengali Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the BJP -ruled administration has denied the basic facilities like water and electricity in an attempt to displace the Bengali residents. He said, “I am very upset to hear the shocking news of harassment from Jai Hind Colony in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. This colony mainly resides in Bengali people, who have built as part of the unorganized workforce of the city. ”

He said, “His water supply was allegedly cut on the orders of the BJP -led government. Electric meters were confiscated and suddenly the electricity was cut off the day after tomorrow. The residents of the colony also claim that the Delhi Police stopped the private tankers of their invited water with the help of RAF personnel, for whom the residents of the colony had paid. ,

BJP is behaving like infiltrators with Bangla speakers- Mamta

The Chief Minister said, “Despite another violation from Delhi Police in December last year, the matter is being forcibly evicted despite being under consideration in the court. If the basic rights of shelter, water, electricity are being crushed, then how can we claim to be a democratic republic? ”

He warned that such action is similar to the identity of Bangla -speaking Indians and criminalization of the language. He accused the BJP of treating Bangla -speaking people like intruders in his own country.

More than 1.5 crore migrant in Bengal living with honors- Mamta

Banerjee said, “There are more than 1.5 crore migrant laborers in Bengal who are living with respect. But this cannot be said about the BJP ruled states, where Bengalis are being treated like intruders in their own country. Speaking of Bangla does not make any Bangladeshi. These people are as much citizens of India as anyone else, no matter what language they speak.

Mamta Banerjee pledged to raise the matter on every possible platform

The development came to light after a political dispute on Wednesday (July 9, 2025), when the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal accused the BJP -led Odisha government of illegally detaining Bangla -speaking migrant workers in Jharsuguda district despite legitimate documents.
Kolkata law college case: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a constant attacking against the ruling party Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Chief Minister of the state regarding the sexual harassment case of Law College, Kolkata. The BJP has also accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party Trinamool Congress (TMC) that it is not supporting the victim in this case.

,TMC is standing with the accused,– Pradeep Bhandari

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has targeted TMC and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on this matter. Pradeep Bhandari said on Sunday (June 29), “The state government led by Mamta Banerjee in West Bengal is not with the victim, but she is seen standing shoulder to shoulder with the accused.”

He said, “It seems that he is supporting the accused of rape in this case, who is the leader of his party Trinamool Congress. Apart from this, the West Bengal administration is also being accused of destroying evidence in this matter.”

TMC Conspiracy to divert attention from the case- Amit Malviya

At the same time, IT department head of Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Malviya has posted a post on social media platform X regarding this matter. Amit Malviya has described the quarrel between TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra as a way to divert people’s attention from sexual harassment case in Kolkata.

He wrote in his post, “In an attempt to divert people’s attention, Trinamool Congress (TMC) Kalyan Banerjee is now attacking his own party’s female colleagues and MP Mahua Moitra. Even Banerjee is even humiliating him as a gold deger.”

In another desperate distraction tactic, TMC mp kalyan bnerjee has now stooped to Attacking his own colleague, calling mahua moitra a gold digger.

Let’s be clear: The BJP has noting to do with the Trinamool Congress’s internal feuds. This is just mamata bnerjee’s latest… pic.twitter.com/pgtaislkbe

TMC’s internal quarrels BJP Nothing to do- Amit Malviya

With this, he clarified that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nothing to do with the internal quarrel of the Trinamool Congress. This is just a new and disgusting conspiracy of Mamta Banerjee, so that the gang rape case of Kolkata Law College can divert attention to the people and try to bring justice to the victim and bring the voice being raised. ”

Amit Malviya said, “We reiterate that no woman in West Bengal is safe, nor from criminals nor from the ruling party of the state, which works to save them.”

Violence in west Bengal over new waqf act: There were incidents of violence in a protest against Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025 on Monday (14 April) in Bhangar area of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The police claimed that the law and order situation in Murshidabad is largely under control. The supporters of the Indian Secular Front (ISF) clashed with the police in the Bhangar, in which many people were injured. Public properties were damaged during the violence and several police vehicles were set on fire.

Clash was prevented from going to rally against Waqf law

The clash began when the police stopped the ISF supporters from going towards Ramlila Maidan in Central Kolkata, where they were going to attend the rally against the Waqf law. ISF leader and Bhangar MLA Naushad Siddiqui was addressing this rally. According to the police, the people involved in the rally were stopped on the Basanti highway near Bhojarhat, where a large number of ISF workers gathered from neighboring areas such as Bhangar as well as Minakhan and Sandhankhali.

ISF Many policemen injured in clash with members of

The tension increased when the mob tried to cross the interruptions of the police, causing a clash between the two sides. A senior police officer said, “The protesters set some police vehicles on fire. Some policemen were injured in the protesters’ attack.”

Eyewitnesses said, “The police lathi-charged to disperse the protesters, due to which a worker of ISF suffered a head injury. Necessary permission was not taken by the police for the rally held at Ramlila Maidan. The situation was not soon deteriorating, due to which the ISF workers started protesting on the highway, which led to traffic, which led to the blockage of the situation, and the situation was deployed in a large number of police force to control the situation. It was dispersed. “

Opposition parties raise questions on police system

Opposition parties alleged that the police did not take any action to stop the fierce mob. Addressing the rally in Kolkata, Siddiqui said, “This law is not just an attack on Muslims, it is an attack on the Constitution. We will not accept this law. The government that supports such laws will have to go.”

BSF Officials visited the violence affected area

Earlier, senior BSF officials visited the violence affected areas of Murshidabad district and assured people of all necessary assistance to restore peace and ensure their safety. A delegation of BSF led by Additional Director General (East) Ravi Gandhi visited Sati and Shamsherganj police station areas as well as several disturbed areas of Dhulian, where three people were killed and several others injured in widespread violence over the weekend. The Additional Director General told PTI after the tour, “We talked to the people and assured them of their safety. We talked to the local people and our soldiers posted there. The situation is gradually becoming normal.”

People are returning back due to violence

Additional Director General also held a meeting with the Director General of Police of West Bengal and other senior officials. Ravi Gandhi said, “A joint strategy has been prepared to increase patrolling in the area. We are working with the state police in intensive coordination to restore normal conditions. ”The state police has said that the situation in Murshidabad is gradually becoming normal, shops are opening again and the families left home are returning.

Additional Director General (Law and Order) Javed Shamim said, “Shops have started opening and people are returning. So far 19 families have returned to their homes. Malda and Murshidabad, both district administration are working together to ensure the safe return of the people who have gone from the districts.” He said, “210 arrests have been made so far. I urge people not to pay attention to rumors. If we have to maintain peace then rumors have to be stopped.”

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appealed to people

After this, while inaugurating a ‘Skywalk’ near the Kali temple in Kalighat, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked people not to participate in non-religious activities in the name of religion. Mamta said, “Everyone has a democratic right to perform peacefully with permission. I will request people not to take the law in their hands.”

BJP Bengal unit president visited relief camp

BJP’s West Bengal unit president Sukant Majumdar visited a relief camp set up at a school in Malda. Many Hindu families suffering from Murshidabad violence have taken refuge in this relief camp. He met the displaced families and later visited the special control room established to assist the affected people.

Mazumdar said, “Many women cried stating their objections. Their houses were set on fire, destroyed and threatened to kill them. A woman has taken refuge here with her four -day child.” He alleged that these attacks were carried out by the ‘radical forces’ under the guise of protests.

He claimed, “Initially 200-250 families took refuge here. Now due to pressure from the police to close the camp and about 75 families are left to hide the failure of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They are still living in the shadow of fear.”

Shubhendu Adhikari has made a big demand for assembly elections

Accusing the law and order situation in the state, senior BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari demanded that the assembly election to be held in 2026 in the state should be held under President’s rule.

The official said, “The unrest in Murshidabad has highlighted the failure of the state government in maintaining the safety and peace of citizens.”

The Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly told reporters in Kolkata, “Wherever there are Hindu minorities, they are prevented from voting. The police acts like the ruling party workers. Assembly elections for independent and fair elections should be held under President’s rule.”
