Complaint regarding EVM

He has complained about late response of EVM. He said that there is some problem with the buttons of the voting machine, it is running slowly. According to news agency ANI, Debnath said that ‘he feels that there is some problem with the button of the EVM. It is taking time to suppress it, I will inform the officer.

BJP made candidate from Panihati

The mother of the female doctor who was murdered after being raped in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, has been fielded by BJP as its candidate from Panihati assembly seat. At the time of nomination, BJP leader Smriti Irani and other big leaders of the party were also present with him. After filing the nomination, he targeted TMC and said that their only aim is to overthrow the Trinamool Congress rule in Bengal, which will ensure the safety of women in the state and prevent incidents like the RG tax case.

Enthusiasm among voters regarding voting

There is tremendous enthusiasm among voters on Wednesday regarding voting in the second phase of West Bengal Assembly elections 2026. Long queues formed at many polling stations early in the morning. Women are also participating enthusiastically in voting. A large number of women were seen standing in line to vote at a polling booth in North 24 Parganas district. Before the start of the elections, mock polls were also conducted at various polling stations of 142 assembly seats, so that the voting process could run smoothly.

Results will come on 4th May

Earlier on April 23, voting was completed on 152 seats in the first phase. In the first phase, there was a huge turnout of 93.2 percent in Bengal, which is a new record. After this huge voting, both TMC and BJP are making big claims of their respective victories. Voting for the second phase continues on Wednesday. After the completion of the second phase of voting, the votes will be counted on May 4 and the results of the election will be declared.

Fate of 1448 candidates will be decided

In the second phase, more than 3.21 crore voters will decide the fate of 1448 candidates. According to the Election Commission, there are a total of 3,21,73,837 registered voters on these 142 seats. These include 1,64,35,627 male, 1,57,37,418 female and 792 third gender voters.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised questions on the role of central forces and external observers during the elections. He alleged that fairness is not being seen in the election process and opposition parties are being targeted at the behest of BJP.

Targeted at Election Commission

Raising questions on the election process, Mamata Banerjee said, ‘Many observers have come from outside who are working completely as per the instructions of the BJP.’ Expressing dissatisfaction over the voting conditions, he asked, ‘The public has to cast their vote, but is voting possible in this kind of environment?’

The Chief Minister also claimed that all the flags and posters of his party were forcibly removed even before the elections. He alleged that some outside elements were doing their own thing and the local administration was being sidelined. He said, “They are not even allowing the councilor of ward number 70 to go out. Our workers are being picked up selectively. Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Abhishek and I remained awake the whole night.”

‘Observers are dancing on the tunes of BJP’ – Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee took the Election Commission to task during the press conference on Wednesday. He said, the Election Commission is openly harassing us. We have sent notice of contempt of court, external observers have been brought to Bengal, they are openly dancing to the tune of BJP. He further said, ‘Go to Chakraberia, you will see yourself that all our posters have been removed. Is this how elections are conducted? These people have brought some people from outside, and these people are doing nothing except spreading fear and terror among the voters. These will go away soon.

Second phase voting in Bengal

Voting on 152 seats has been completed in the first phase on 23 April. In the first phase, there was a record heavy voting of 93.2 percent in Bengal. Voting is taking place for the second phase today i.e. 29th April. Women are also participating enthusiastically in voting. After the completion of the second phase of voting, the votes will be counted on May 4 and the results of the election will be declared.
