Before taking the brilliant catch, Hetmyer had broken Chris Gayle’s record by scoring the fastest half-century in the T20 World Cup for West Indies. Hetmyer completed his fifty in just 22 balls. Earlier, in the 2009 T20 World Cup, Chris Gayle had scored a half-century in 23 balls. Shai Hope, present in this list, had completed fifty in 24 balls in the last season i.e. 2024 T20 World Cup.

However, it is worth noting that the record of scoring the fastest half-century for West Indies in T20 International is in the name of Chris Gayle. Gayle completed his half-century in just 17 balls against South Africa in 2015.
