At the same time, due to difficulty in swallowing food, food or liquid goes into the lungs, which increases the risk of infection.

The nervous system is also directly affected by stroke. The patient may have trouble speaking, understanding and remembering. Tingling, numbness or weakness is felt in some parts of the body. Eyesight may be affected and many patients may also suffer seizures.

After stroke, the circulatory system is also affected. People who have high blood pressure or high cholesterol have a higher risk of repeated stroke or heart attack. Staying in bed for a long time also increases the risk of blood clot formation.

It has a deep effect on the muscles. A part of the body may become paralyzed or weak. Balance and coordination deteriorates, making walking difficult. Muscles start stiffening or contracting without control. For this reason, physiotherapy and regular exercise are necessary in stroke recovery.

Digestive and urinary systems can also be affected after stroke. Problems like constipation, difficulty in swallowing and sometimes loss of control over stool or urine occur. Right diet, adequate water and light activity can reduce these problems. Exercise and medicines are used to regain urinary bladder control.

Stroke can also affect relationships and personal life. In many patients, the desire for physical relations decreases; men may suffer from erectile dysfunction and women may suffer from dryness. Depression and lack of confidence also affects relationships. In such a situation, it is important to consult a doctor and have an open conversation with your partner.
