When the Moon transits over Ghanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati Nakshatra, it is called Panchak Kaal. Panchak is also observed when Moon transits in Aquarius and Pisces.

Talking about the types of Panchak, there are many types of them like – Rog Panchak, Mrityu Panchak, Agni Panchak, Raj Panchak and Chor Panchak. When Panchak starts from Friday then it is called ‘Chor Panchak’.

Panchak is being observed from Friday, 31st October. Therefore it will be called Chor Panchak. Chor Panchak will run from 31 October to 4 November 2025. Therefore, avoid doing some work during this period.

One should avoid money transactions during the five days of Chor Panchak. It is believed that financial transactions done during this period cause financial loss. Also avoid traveling towards the south.

During the time of Chor Panchak, one should not do things like starting a new business, making big investments, business deals etc. It is believed that work done at this time rarely brings auspicious results.

It is considered inauspicious to do things like marriage, engagement, upanayana, purchase of new clothes or jewellery, investment etc. during Chor Panchak.

Why auspicious work is not done in Panchak: According to astrology, Panchak period is considered inauspicious and harmful. This is the period when the Moon passes through Aquarius and Pisces. During this period, the influence of many zodiac signs and constellations gives inauspicious results. It is advised to avoid auspicious activities during Panchak so that there is no negative impact in life.

When and how Panchak is formed: When the Moon passes through Dhanishtha, Shatabhisha, Purvabhadrapada, Uttarabhadrapada and Revati constellations, then Panchak Kaal is formed. Because of these five constellations it is called “Panchak”. This time lasts for about five days and is considered inauspicious. During this period, building a house, traveling or collecting things is prohibited.

Five types of Panchak: Panchak is divided into five parts, Rog Panchak, Nrip Panchak, Chor Panchak, Mrityu Panchak and Agni Panchak. Disease Panchak starting from Sunday is harmful for health. Monday’s Nrip Panchak is auspicious for government work, while inauspicious for personal work. Friday’s Thief Panchak can cause financial loss. Saturday’s Mrityu Panchak brings crisis in life, and Tuesday’s Agni Panchak is considered unfavorable for works like house construction.

Which constellations cause harm in Panchak: There is fear of fire in Dhanishtha Nakshatra, whereas in Shatabhisha the possibility of quarrel increases. Health may deteriorate in Purvabhadrapada, Uttarabhadrapada may cause financial loss, and there are chances of financial loss in Revati Nakshatra. During these constellations, one should avoid travelling, moving towards the south or making a new bed.

Death and precautions during Panchak: If a person dies during Panchak, then five effigies of flour or kush are made along with him and he is also cremated. If you do not do this, there is a possibility of Panchak Dosha. According to astrology, this defect can cause death or distress for five other members in the family.

Auspicious work to be done in Panchak: Panchak is often considered inauspicious, but some constellations are favorable for auspicious works. Sarvarthasiddhi Yoga is formed in Uttarabhadrapad Nakshatra. In Dhanishtha and Shatabhisha Nakshatras, travel or machinery work is auspicious, while in Revati Nakshatra, business, buying clothes or jewelery is beneficial.
