Nick&#8217;s non-profit organization Beyond Type 1, which works on Type 1 diabetes across the world, is now running a campaign in the country to increase awareness and eliminate the shame and hesitation associated with it. Priyanka told on Instagram that she is happy to bring this campaign of her husband Nick Jonas to India. Beyond Type 1 aims to bring together Type 1 diabetes patients from around the world on one platform where they can get the right information, resources, support and inspiration to live better lives. </p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>What did Priyanka Chopra say?</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Priyanka wrote that her understanding of Type 1 diabetes began with Nick&#8217;s medical journey. Diagnosed at just 13 years old, Nick managed his condition to create a life that empowers people to push beyond limits. Priyanka said that Nick founded Beyond Type 1 so that people struggling with diabetes could get respect, information and support.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The cases of databites are continuously increasing all over the world, India is one of them. According to WHO, about 7.7 crore people above 18 years of age are suffering from diabetes in India. India has the second highest number of youth with Type 1 diabetes in the world. In many cases, the disease is caught late and children suffer alone for years.  To fill this gap, Beyond Type 1 is launching a campaign in India, which will include stories of people who brought a big change in their lives while fighting diabetes. The people involved in this campaign are Lieutenant Colonel Kumar Gaurav, Mehreen Rana, Nishant Amin, Shreya Jain, Indu Thampi and Harichandran Ponusamy.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Nick Jonas&#8217;s own journey</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Nick Jonas was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2002, when he was just 13 years old. In the beginning he felt completely alone. Later he realized that there are many people like him who go into isolation after diagnosis, who need some support and understanding. This experience led him to start Beyond Type 1. It is an organization that aims to create an environment where people can share their journey, talk openly and strengthen each other.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">According to signs, there are 8 major reasons for increasing blood sugar, in which sugar keeps increasing even without eating sweets. In these-</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>morning sugar rise</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Between 4 and 8 in the morning, the body produces certain hormones, such as cortisol and growth hormone. This tells your liver to make more glucose so you can wake up. If you have diabetes, your body is not able to produce enough insulin, so sugar increases in the morning.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Effect of reduced sugar at night</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If sugar levels drop too low at night, the body produces more glucose in the morning to compensate. Because of this, sugar increases as soon as you wake up in the morning. This mostly happens in people taking insulin.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">During these days, estrogen is low, due to which the body does not respond properly to insulin. This may increase blood sugar.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Steroid medicines given in case of inflammation or any disease, such as prednisone, increase glucose in the liver and reduce the ability of insulin – this increases sugar.</p>
