If WhatsApp Web is logging you out every few hours then it is not a glitch nor are you facing any technical glitch. This is happening due to the implementation of new rules of the Government of India. Actually, the government has made SIM binding mandatory from March 1. Now it is important for your WhatsApp account to be linked to the SIM present in your phone. If you remove the SIM card the app will stop working. This rule will also affect WhatsApp Web.

What is SIM binding?

SIM binding means that all messaging apps including WhatsApp and Telegram can be accessed only on the device which has the same SIM with which the registration was done on that platform. If that SIM is removed from that device, becomes inactive or another SIM is inserted in it, then the app will automatically log out the user.

What will change after its implementation?

Till now, to create an account on WhatsApp, one had to verify the number only once. For this, the mobile number had to be entered at the time of registration and the user could verify his number by entering the OTP received on it. Later, even if a user removed the SIM from the device, WhatsApp would continue to work, but now this is changing. Now every few hours WhatsApp will check whether your device has the same SIM or not. Some functions of WhatsApp may stop working if you remove, change or deactivate the SIM.

WhatsApp Web will also be affected

It is worth noting that WhatsApp is bringing this feature only for Indian users. This decision will affect WhatsApp web and desktop along with WhatsApp mobile app. Sessions on both platforms may auto-log out after approximately every six hours and the user will need to re-authenticate.
