What did the IMF Chief say?
Recently, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva had come to Los Angeles to attend the Milken Institute conference. During his address, he talked about the war situation and said, ‘If the war in the Middle East continues for a long time, the situation will get worse. The economic growth projections made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) three weeks ago are no longer relevant, because the ongoing long war in the Persian Gulf means that the growth rate will be low and inflation will increase.

If the war drags on, the situation will get worse
Not only this, the IMF Chief warned on Monday that inflation is already increasing, and if the ongoing tension in the Middle East continues till 2027, then it will have to face huge losses. He also said that if oil prices reach around $125 per barrel, the entire world economy may have to face ‘very bad consequences’. He also said that the slight increase in inflation forecast earlier is not possible now. Inflation may increase significantly in the coming times.
