Two members of the West Virginia National Guard deployed in the US capital Washington were shot on Wednesday (26 November 2025), a short distance from the White House. On the matter, FBI Director Kash Patel and Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser said that the Guard members have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Mayor Muriel Bowser has called it a targeted attack, which has further increased the concern of security agencies.

Immediately after the incident, the FBI and local police started a joint investigation. FBI Director Kash Patel said that the injured soldiers were treated on time. A suspect has also been caught after being shot and there is no threat to his life at present. Agencies are trying to find out whether the attack was deliberately targeting soldiers.
