You will be surprised to know that our grandfather-grandfather used to eat more sweet or desert than nowadays. Still, his health was better and he used to remain more fit. The main reason for this was his routine and lifestyle. Machines were not used much at that time, so people used to do much physical labor in their everyday works. Whether it is to work in the fields, do the work of houses by hand or walk for long distances. His body was constantly active.

Apart from this, his food was also natural and pure. Jaggery or other natural sweeteners were often used instead of sugar and adulteration was very low. His diet consisted of balanced nutritions and he usually stayed away from processed food or junk food. Despite eating sweet, good physical activities and healthy lifestyle kept them away from diseases and healthy. Let’s know what was his lifestyle and the reason for being healthy.

Healthy lifestyle and physical activity

In earlier times, people’s lives were not as sedent as today. People often used to walk, work in the fields and used to do a lot of physical labor or physical activity in their day to day work. His work was his exercise. Despite not having modern gym, people were associated with traditional sports, wrestling and other physical activities.

Balanced dile and healthy food

Despite the high amount of sweet quantity in people’s food in olden times, its quality and other nutrients were also better. They did not consume highly processed or refined sugar like today. Sweet often came from jaggery, honey or natural fruits, which also contained fiber and other nutrients.

Whole grains and fiber

The diet of old people was rich in whole grains, pulses, and vegetables, which contain high fiber. The fiber slows the abjarbation of glucose in the blood, which does not cause a sudden increase in blood sugar.

Healthy fat and stress free life

His food used to have a balanced use of ghee and other natural fat, which provided energy and felt the stomach filled, which reduced excessive sweet craving. Not only this, people’s life was stress free compared to today. Stress hormones can increase blood sugar and its levels were usually low in the old times. People used to sleep quickly and get up early, which gave them enough and quality sleep.

In such a situation, it can be seen that even though people used to eat sweet in the old times, their active lifestyle, natural and nutritious diet and stress free lifestyle helped their body to absorb sugar better and stay fit.

When you see ultra processed food like pizza-burgers, chips-nuts, biscuits, french fries, do you get water in your mouth too, so it is not due to eating it. Actually, people eat ultra processed food repeatedly to remove unnecessary addiction and to remove their emotional distress. This was revealed in a recently published study in the Food Science and Nutrition Journal. This study was done with ultra-processed food i.e. UPF eating, food addiction, eating things for happiness and mood. & Nbsp;

 How Ultra Processed Foods are prepared?

According to the changing lifestyle, food processing is becoming very high, which new technology has a lot of contribution in increasing. However, the amount of food processing and its purpose directly affect the health of the common people. This is the reason that the Nova classification system has divided food items into four categories. One of these categories is UPF i.e. Ultra Processed Food, which contains a lot of adatives and which pass through intensive industrial processing. This is the reason why their natural structure also deteriorates. & Nbsp;

 How to have ultra processed food for health?

It is worth noting that anti-humuctor, flavor inhansar and emulsifiers are usually used to prepare UPF, which reduces the cost of making them and increases the shelf life. The important thing is that the earnings from UPF, aggressive advertisements, changing lifestyle have increased their intake significantly. However, due to low nutrients and high fat, UPF are proving dangerous for the health of the people. & Nbsp;

 Such study on UPF

In this study online, researchers focused on UPF intake, food addiction, mood and headonic hunger. Explain that headonic Hunger means food for taste-joy and emotional satisfaction according to the need of the body. The survey was conducted from September 2024 to January 2025 on people aged 18 to 65 years in Ankara of Turkia. The important thing is that people with incomplete answers, psychic disorder and eating disorder were not given place in this survey. & Nbsp;

 These techniques used in study

Food habit of the people involved in the survey was assessed using high processed food consumption screening questioner. At the same time, the headonic Hunger was evaluated through the Power of Food Scale (PFS). Apart from this, food addiction was examined with the help of Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS). Also, depression anxiety stress scale-21 (DASS-21) was used to know the emotional status of the people involved in the survey. & Nbsp;

 This was revealed in the study

This study included 3,997 adults, whose average age was 31.7 years. Of these, 63 percent were women and 52.9 percent were unemployed. The average body mass index (BMI) of all these people is 24.5 kg/m & sup2; Was. The weight of 55 % people involved in the study was normal, while 11.7 % people were obese. Apart from this, 27.5 % people were overweight and 5.6 % were underweight. The average score of all on SQ-HPF, PFS, and YFAS standards was 5.1, 2.8, and 2.9 respectively. & nbsp;

The average score of tension, depression and anxiety on Dass-21 was 5.9, 5.6, and 5.0 respectively. UPF intake of more than 55% of people was less, while about 45% of the people used to consume very high ultra processed food. The survey revealed the average age of ultra processed food eaters got 28.8 years, while the average age of UPF less eaters was found to be 34.1 years. The important thing was that ultra processed food alone and unmarried people eat more. It was also revealed that people consume them not according to the need of their body, but according to their mood.
