Former cricketer Aakash Chopra enumerated 4 reasons due to which the team was in such a condition.

Players’ injuries became a problem

While sharing the video on his social media, Aakash Chopra listed 4 reasons. First he talked about the injured players in the team. He said, “Injuries happened before and after the tournament started, Dewald Brevis was not there in the first 3 matches, Spencer Johnson was not there for a long time. Khalil Ahmed and then Ayush Mhatre get injured. Jamie Overton gets injured, big players were getting injured so the job was not going to be easy for them.”

Bad form of captain Ruturaj Gaikwad

The former cricketer also cited captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s not being in form as one of the reasons for the team’s condition. He said, “One was, can you get Ayush Mhatre to open? Rituraj said that I am going to do it, he opened but the form was ordinary. Runs were not scored and the approach was also under question.”

auction strategy

Aakash Chopra also raised questions on the auction strategy of Chennai Super Kings, he said that it was not right because you did not have Dewald Brevis, you were not able to play Matthew Short because you had only 2 foreign batsmen. He further said, “You could not make Jack Fox play even a single match, you made Matt Henry play but soon you lost confidence in him. You could not use Prashant Veer.”

Citing the middle order of Chennai Super Kings as a reason, the former cricketer said, “Your middle order was unstable. Shivam Dubey was not in form, Dewald Brevis also could not do anything special.”
