Mobile recharge plan: A bad news is coming out for crores of mobile users across the country. Telecom companies are preparing to make their recharge plans expensive once again. According to an Economic Times report, companies are planning to increase tariffs after the fifth consecutive day increase in the number of net users. It is likely that by the end of the year, mobile recharge rates may increase by 10 to 12 percent.

It is worth noting that earlier in July 2024, telecom companies had increased basic plans by 11 to 23 percent. Experts believe that this time companies can bring tier -based plans, in which the data limit will be reduced so that users are forced to buy additional data packs.

New record set in May

In May 2025, the number of mobile active users reached the highest level of 29 months which was about 1.08 billion. During this time Reliance Jio took the biggest advantage and added 5.5 million new active users to increase its market share to 150 basis points to 53%. At the same time, Bharti Airtel added 1.3 million new active users.

Tariff will increase with 5G services

Now the prices of mobile plans will be adjusted according to 5G services. According to brokerage firm Jefferies, the rapid growth of Jio and Airtel, and Vodafone Idea’s user Loss, has created a proper environment for companies to increase tariffs. The upcoming tariff changes can be decided on the basis of data consumption, internet speed and time of use. Experts also believe that companies will specifically target premiums and mid-tier customers so that it has a direct impact on common users.

Indian company entry into satellite broadband

Meanwhile, Hyderabad -based Indian company Ananth Technologies has created a new record to get the country’s first private company to start the satellite broadband service through indigenous satellites. Under the approval received by IN-Space, this company will launch 4 tonnes of Wajney GEO Communication Satellite which will be able to give speed up to 100 GBPS.

The company is going to invest about Rs 3,000 crore in this project. Alan Musk’s starlink in this region is still in the process of obtaining permission in India. This change can prove to be a big step towards taking Indian digital infrastructure to a new height.
